			The book splits the narrative into small chunks, smaller than a typical chapter. Each division starts with the character's name, which also starts the sentence of the section. The sections are told from the perspective of the character {{--}} most are told from [[Luke]], [[Joanne]], and [[Marylou Winawer\|Marylou]]'s perspectives, with two sections told from [[Bobby Ayres\|COFFIN77's]] perspective, and one section told from both Luke and Joanne's perspective at the same time. Before Luke and Joanne learn Marylou's name, her sections are simply titled "The Target" (even though her actions are unknown to Luke and Joanne).
