	*** In all honesty, it could be something that the writers overlooked. However, having seen just a tiny sliver of what it takes to get a piece of writing approved (and that's from a "lesser" medium like the iStory), I'm sure there was somebody along the way who thought the same thing as you, and probably came up with a similar explanation to justify the continuity.
