The van pulled up outside a large building. Flint an Knox jumped out. Mark followed.

"Follow me," Knox told Mark. "Flint, go park the van."

Flint got back into the van and drove around a corner. Flint walked towards the building, past a large staue of a double helix and in through some tinted double doors.

The entered into a large lobby. Knox told Mark to sit down on a long leather seat. Knox dissapeared into an elevator. Mark waited for several minutes. Flint also entered the door and went up into the elevator. Mark took out his phone and looked at it. No calls. No texts. Nothing.

"Expecting someone?" came a voice. Mark looked up to see an elderly man in a suit sitting in the seat opposite.

"No, no, I just..." Mark started. "I don't know. Hey, do I know you from somewhere?"

"I know what it's like," the man said ignoring Mark's question. "Your family rejecting you for who you are, what you can do."

"You know about abilities?" Mark stood up and started to walk around. "Why am I even asking, everyone I meet these days seems to know about them."

"Although you're family may have rejected you, I can tell you now that we won't," came the man's voice from behind Mark. "He's ready for you now."

"Who is?" Mark asked turning round. The man had dissappeared. Mark looked all around. He had completely gone.

"Mr. Petrelli's ready for you now."

Mark looked up to see a balding man on the balcony above the elevators.

"Come on," he said.

Mark got in the elevator. When he got out the man guestured his hand down a hall and lead the way. He turned a corner, then another, past a lab, then through a door into a room with windows on two sides.

"Mr. Petrelli, the man you sent for is here," the man said.

"Thank-you Maury," said another man, Arthur Petrelli. "Could you check on how Daphne's doing with recruiting Matt."

"Of course." And with that Maury left the room.

"Sit down Mark," said Arthur. "Do you know why you are here?"

"Let me guess," said Mark, taking a seat. "Would it have something to do with my ability?"

"Correct. I need you to do me some favours. I want you to work for me."

"And why would I do that?"

"Because, there's a bad world out there, and we just want to rid it of the evil. Walk with me."

Arthur stood up and walked out the room briskly, Mark alongside him. They entered a lab.

"There's one thing you should know Mr. Cunningham, Pinehearst is the future."

Arthur walked up to a glass room with closed blinds and opened the door. He entered and Mark followed. An indian doctor was standing over a patient.

"How's our patient Doctor Suresh?" asked Arthur.

"Not well," said Doctor Suresh turning around. "Oh, you brought someone else."

"No, no. Mr. Cunningham's our newest recruit," Arthur said putting his hand on Mark's shoulder.

"Pleased to meet you," said Mark, outstreching his hand. Doctor Suresh reached out and shook it. Mark suddenly jumped back, noticing scabs over the back of Suresh's hand.

"I... I have stuff I need to be doing," said Suresh, heading for the door. "I need another one."

"Very well doctor," said Arthur. "Mark, come with me.

Mark followed Arthur back to his office. Arthur picked up a badge.

"Here, wear this. You can get some new clothes downstairs, get Knox to get them for you. He'll be in the room at the bottom of the hall."

Mark headed for the door.

"Oh, and you'll need this," Arthur said, picking up a file from his desk.

Mark took the file from him.

"Who is this?" he asked.

"His name is Glen Merrick."

"What do you want me to do? Recruit him?"

"No, we need you to kidnap him."
