He pulls out the trapped woman, but as he does, the gas ignites and there's an explosion and flying debris. While driving through rural Utah, D.L. Hawkins and his son Micah come across a nasty car crash. One driver is standing next to his car, dazed, and the other car is on fire. D.L. runs up to the burning car, and sees an unresponsive woman trapped inside the locked car.
As fire threatens to explode the car, D.L. phases his arm through the window and unlocks the door from the inside. He pulls out the trapped woman, but as he does, the gas ignites and there's an explosion and flying debris. Hiro stops time just as the ball of flame is about to hit D.L. and the woman.
