"Looks like fun," Ian said. "I'll be needing that one." Carly turned and looked slowly at him. "I could tell what you came for the moment you walked in." She gestured, and a bolt of light shot from her hand and hit Ian, knocking him back several meters into a mirror. He stood up slowly, a smoking hole in his shirt. "If that's how you want to play, then let's play," Ian snarled. He motioned, and a shard of glass from the mirror he had shattered flew at Carly. She tried to duck out of its way, but it still sliced deeply into her arm. She fired a huge blast of light straight at Ian. When the smoke cleared, she could see him laying on the floor. Was he dead? She crept closer, a ball of light ready to use on Ian. His eyes suddenly snapped open, and quick as a snake he grabbed her exposed ankle. Carly gasped at the waves of energy that were leaving her. Her accusing eyes landed one last time on Ian, before the light flowing from her body was completely absorbed by Ian. He shakily stood up, minor burns covering most of his chest. "Witch," he spat at the gray and still body on the floor. He limped out of her house just as police pulled up in front of it. Ian frowned. The neighbors must have heard the sounds of the conflict. "This is the police! Put your hands behind your head!" shouted an officer getting out of his car. Ian considered the request for a second. He even thought about letting them get a few shots off. In the end, however, he raised a hand, and a white-hot bolt of light cut through the hood of the police car, all the way to the gas tank. Ian made his escape while the burning car could cover it. He grinned evilly. That was two abilities now. And he still had a full list. He looked down at the cell phone he had taken from an agent with the SCS (Superhuman Combat Services). Of course, he had ended up taking the man's ability too, but the man had been a coward and a weakling. He looked at the the next name on his list. Tommy Harris. "Perfect," thought Ian. "No one even suspects."

"Freak!" Claude shouted. He punched a boy strapped to a chair in front of him.
"I didn't know, Claude!" shouted the boy he was hitting. "I don't like being a freak! You think I wanted this to happen?"
"You're one of them," muttered Claude. He raised his hand for another blow, but a cold, authoritative voice stopped him.
"That's enough," said the new boy. He stood in the doorway, next to a girl. "Stay out of this,' spat Claude. "He's one of them."
"One of us," corrected the girl. Claude looked at her in confusion. "I don't want any trouble," he muttered, backing up. He turned
and fled out of the far door. "Will, he's going to call the police," the girl announced. "We'll deal with that later, Kayla."
Will said. he walked across the room and stood next to the boy in the chair. "What's your name?" Will asked.
"Tommy Harris," he answered. "Are you like me?" Will smiled. "That depends," he said as he bent to untie the straps.
"I have an ability if that's what you mean." The sound of sirens pierced the air. Will and Tommy straightened up.
"This is the police!" a voice outside yelled. "Come out now!" "Tommy, what do you do?" Will snapped.
"I can turn invisible," he frantically answered. "This will feel a little bit weird," Will told him. Will
grabbed Tommy's arm, and his hand began to softly glow. Kayla grabs Will's other hand, and all three vanish.
Unseen by waiting cops, a back door opens, and closes by itself. A block away, Will, Tommy, and Kayla reappear.
"Be more careful," Will warns. He picks Kayla up and flies away.

Carly Gray is cooking dinner for herself. She hears something move behind her and spins around. Ian Monroe is
