{{plus}}Musicians tend to make the bulk of their profits from concerts, rather than the low percentage of sales given to them by their recording companies. Increased exposure is likely to lead to more people going to see live music and therefore, indirectly, copyright infringement might lead to greater profits for the actual artists.

{{minus}}Companies such as the [[wikipedia:MPAA|MPAA]] or the [[wikipedia:RIAA|RIAA]] release ludicrous figures of how much they 'lose' to piracy.

{{plus}}They in fact, do not lose a single cent to piracy. Everytime someone downloads a movies or album, the MPAA or RIAA do not lose any money. They simply do not gain any money. But...

What really pushes my buttons...

  • People who go on forums just to complain.
  • Jerks who think their better than everyone and above the law.
  • Monopoly companies such as the MPAA who attack piracy users with unfounded claims. Attack them by all means, but with justified attacks
  • Companies such as the AMPTP who think people will just agree with them.

2007 Writers Guild of America strike

  • This is another example of how big companies think they can just walk all over people.

The East and West WGA have the right motives and justification for this, The AMPTP should just agree to their terms and be done with it. Get them what they want, It is nothing compared to the millions (billions?) they will lose from the strike.

People in the WGA are not as rich as most people make them out to be. It is often thought that they are as well off as the actors/actresses that read their scripts. This could not be more wrong.

In places such as LA where the cost of living is tremendously large, These writers do want all that much. The WGA has proposed that writers receive 2.5% of distributor's gross for new media sales and distribution, the AMPTP's refusal of this is evidenced that the studios want to shut down rather than reach a fair deal.

The big companies really need to smart up and actually give these people a break for once, instead of being so selfish and greedy.
