Talk:Kimiko Nakamura
Karate Kick
I'm fine with generalizing it to 'martial arts' instead of 'karate' until they choose to give more info on her training. But being a 4th Degree blackbelt in Japanese Wado Ryu Karatedo, I can tell from her posture and position and application, that this wasn't a lucky 'adrenelized' kick, nor some other similar martial arts. Karate is the kicking art of Japan, and is commonly trained both in elementary schools, as well as families. With Kaito having such a strong Budo influence as seen in his Kenjitsu training, it would be highly improbably that she is doing a non-Japanese style such as American Kenpo, Korean TangSooDo, or French Savante. Of the other indigenous Japanese Budo martial arts(Judo, Juijitsu, Sumo, Iaido, Kendo, Aikido, Bujustu, Ninjitsu, tachi-dori, tanto-dori, idori, etc), only Karate would have a formed kick in the manner she delivers it.
I personally, don't see saying marital arts is being any less speculative than karate being that they are in Japan, and are Japanese, and that is the common and generalized kicking art of that location; but we can wait and see what the plan to reveal in the future for Kimiko and what her background training may be. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 08/28/2007 10:38 (EST)
