Character History
Nothing to Hide
While driving through rural Utah, D.L. Hawkins and his son Micah come across a nasty car crash. One driver is standing next to his car, dazed, and the other car is on fire. D.L. gets out to help, and another car pulls up to help; it is Hiro and Ando. D.L. runs up to the burning car, and sees a woman trapped inside. D.L. tries to open the car door, but it's locked. He bangs on the window, but the person inside is unresponsive.
The fire ignites some spilled fuel on the ground, and a line of fire races towards the gas tank. D.L. phases his arm through the window and unlocks the door from the inside. He reaches inside and pulls out the trapped woman, but as he does, the gas ignites and there's an explosion and flying debris. Hiro concentrates and stops time just as the ball of flame is about to hit D.L. and the woman. Hiro walks up to the (now stationary) explosion, thinks, and comments in Japanese "Why can't I have super strength too?" and starts to push D.L. and the woman out of the way of the blast.
The car explodes, and Ando and Micah are thrown back by the blast. As they get up, they look to their left. D.L., the injured woman, and the other driver are all on the side of the road next to an out-of-breath Hiro. Micah asks his dad what happened, but he doesn't know.
D.L. mentions they should take the injured woman to a hospital and Ando tells him that he already called the police. Knowing he is a wanted man, D.L. tells Micah that they have to go. Micah points out that D.L. saved the victim like a real hero and that now they can go back to Niki. D.L. tells Micah that they can't ever go back. As the police arrive, D.L. and Micah drive away. Hiro and Ando wave goodbye.
