A mysterious virus hitting billions of people and only the strongest survived.
Those with hard immune systems.
And those with abilities. The remaining humans felt the Heroes were responsible.
And so it came to pass that the world as we knew it was no more, with pain and suffering reigning supreme.
It was time to band together and rebuild things from scratch, or so you would think....

The year is 2008.
The date is Tuesday, June 2.
The time is 14.34pm.
The word is destruction.
Dead bodies line the world's major cities. From Australia to Zambia, there is very little left. Nobody really knows how it got out, how it spread so quickly, how it infected everybody in such a vicious streak. But those who have remained on this desolate wasteland once known as Earth are well aware that they should be thankful.
The word 'lucky' could be used to describe them, but it would be inappropriate; would you think it lucky if the whole world you inhabited crashed around you? Would you think it lucky if your friends, your family, your colleagues, just dropped dead in front of your face?
Before the virus was released, the world had been united. Now, discord, enmity, and pain reign supreme. The world has been clearly divided into two camps: Heroes, and Civilians. The Heroes have special abilities, abilities which have marked them down in history as unique and extraordinary. The Civilians who survived are the ones with either hard immune systems or remarkable fortune.
An uprising is surely on the cards; the Civilians blame the Heroes for what has happened, while the Heroes are bewildered at the fact that they have become the villains of the peace. All around the world, it is painfully close to civil war; there are no governments, no monarcy, no presidency... only fighting, and suffering. Grief drives the civilians forward, while the Heroes are motivated by the imperative to survive. In the words of Charles Darwin, only the fittest will survive this war.

This is a Heroes role-playing game set in 2008. Our RPG does not follow the mythology or storyline of Seasons 1 and 2 of the show, so dead characters such as Isaac and Linderman are available to be played. There were some main victims to the virus: Ted Sprague, Candice Willmer, Alejandro Herrera and Ando Masahashi are not able to be played. But every other character is available, along with various original characters to add to the original plot. Volume One is entitled Apocalypse, and the question is, whose side are you on?
