Željko Ivanek (ˈʒɛʎko iˈʋanɛk) is the actor who portrays Emile Danko. He also portrayed a shape shifted James Martin in the episode Into Asylum, and Sylar in the episodes Turn and Face the Strange and An Invisible Thread.
Željko Ivanek is a well-rounded actor with accolades from his theatrical performances as well as his television performances. Prior to Heroes, Željko was most noted for his television work as "Ray Fiske" in Damages, "Governor Devlin" in Oz, "Andre Drazen" in 24, and "Ed Danvers" in Homicide: Life on the Street. He has also performed in The Mentalist, John Adams, Lost, Law & Order, The West Wing, The Practice, House, The X-Files, Cold Case, and Tim Kring's Crossing Jordan.
Željko has also performed in numerous theatrical productions, including The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, The Pillowman, The Glass Menagerie, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Two Shakespearean Actors , and Loot. His film credits include Live Free or Die Hard, The Hoax, The Manchurian Candidate, Dogville, Unfaithful, Black Hawk Down, Hannibal, Snow Falling on Cedars, A Civil Action, Donnie Brasco, Courage Under Fire, and School Ties.
Following Heroes, Željko continued to work on Damages, and added such notable characters to his resume as "JJ" from Big Love, "Magister" from True Blood, and "Blake Sterling" from The Event. He also had key roles in The Mentalist, The Words, Argo, and The Bourne Legacy.
- Željko has won numerous awards for his acting. He won an Best Supporting Actor Emmy in 2008 and a Drama Desk Award for Best Actor in 1982. He was nominated for another Drama Desk Award in 1992, and was nominated for three Tony Awards.
- Željko was born in Slovenia and emigrated to the United States when he was three years old.
- Željko attended Yale University. He graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
