First reference: | Homecoming |
Albert Einstein (14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955) was a German physicist best known for his theory of relativity and his equation E = mc2, which determines the equivalence of mass and energy.
About
Einstein's theory of relativity, specifically time dilation, is referred by Matt Parkman as an explanation for Daphne's capacity of traveling through time when running at superluminal speed. Interestingly, one of the first evidences for Einstein's theory of general relativity came during a solar eclipse. Also, the term "Einstein" is often used nowadays to refer to someone who is considered a genius.
History
Homecoming
In a dream, Mohinder views his father talking to Nirand. Chandra tells Nirand that people thought Einstein was crazy for his ideas.
Graphic Novel:The Man with Too Much Brains
During a math test, one of Matt Neuenberg's classmates asks him the answer of a question, calling him "Einstein".
Dual
Matt Parkman explains that, due to Einstein's theory of relativity, if Daphne's super speed were supercharged to the point of allowing her to run faster than light, she would be able to travel through time and rescue Hiro. Daphne replies, calling Matt an "Einstein".
1961
Chandra Suresh and Angela Petrelli cite Einstein: "The life of the individual has meaning only insofar as it aids in making the life of every living thing nobler and more beautiful".
Heroes Evolutions
In a blog post on A Hero's Quest, Hiro says, "The great time-space philosopher Albert Einstein once said that music is the driving force behind intuition."
Notes
- In reality, the explanation of how Daphne is capable of moving back in time is a discontinuity with Einstein's real theory of special relativity. Exceeding the speed of light gives a mathematically meaningless results instead of reversing time.
