Peter and Future Peter travel four years into the future to witness how the world has changed.  This is like the umpteenth terrible future vision in the Heroes-verse, and the problem with this one is that everyone has abilities.  They've all injected the magical formula that gives them abilities, and people now fly around New York City for kicks. Future Peter tells Peter that he needs to go to Sylar for help, but before he can say another word he's shot by Evil Claire. Peter escapes just in time.
Future Claire, who now hangs out with Future Daphne and Future Knox, plans to use Molly to find Peter.  Little does she know that Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) has gone to see Future Mohinder, who is now fully mutated and likes to hide in the dark.  He gives Peter some info on where to find Sylar, and when he heads to Costa Verde he's shocked to find the one-time supervillain wearing an apron, with a kid and making waffles.
Sylar (Zachary Quinto) pulls Peter aside and fills him in on the fact that their brothers.  Peter doesn't seem nearly as shocked by this as he should be, but I think that's just due to bad writing.  Future Sylar has atoned for his evil ways and now spends his days watching little Noah, who must be named after HRG.  Peter tries to tell Sylar that the world is doomed, and suggests he try painting the future if he's not convinced.
Meanwhile, Daphne visits Future Matt, who is her husband. He doesn't want to use Molly to find Peter, but his speedy wife talks him into it.  After she gets the info, she passes it on to Claire (Hayden Panettiere) so they can go find Peter. Back in Costa Verde, Sylar tells Peter to fix his watch if he wants to learn his cool power-collecting ability.  Peter picks up the power, but the gang is soon interrupted by the trio of Evil Claire, Daphne and Knox.
A confrontation took place, and Peter punches Claire before she even pulled the trigger on her gun. Daphne went after Peter, and Knox, who gained his strength through Noah's fear, throws Sylar through a table and accidentally kills Noah in the process.  Sylar gets so angry that he punched Knox until his radioactive power manifest and cause a nuclear explosion, wiping out the entire area.
About 200,000 people die in the explosion, but Evil Claire survives and is now about to torture a shirtless Peter with a scalpel. She's soon interrupted by President Petrelli, who tells his brother that Congress has decided to move forward with a superpowered army.  Peter goes a little crazy trying to figure out Nathan's true intentions, and accidentally pulls a Sylar and cuts open his head.  When Peter travels back to the present to visit Sylar, the villain tells him that he's now infected with the skull-slicing hunger because of the power of intutive ability.
Back in the present, Mohinder studies the bizarre rash on his back, but instead he goes next door to break up a domestic dispute when he hears the neighbors fighting. After Maya (Dania Ramirez) gets home, she tries to lay her charm on Suresh, but his ability cause him to burst into anger for no reason.  Maya storms out in a huff, and Mohinder soon realizes that there's no way to remove his rash.
Dr. Zimmerman tells Tracy (Ali Larter) that she's just one of a set of triplets, and that he discovered her and injected her with a formula that gave her superpowers.  Tracy wants to know the name of the mysterious company that greenlit the project, and when Zimmerman can't remember she almost froze me.
Soon after, Tracy tells Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) that she's resigning from her position.  Linderman informs him that it's his destiny to help her, which is why he arrives just in time to save Tracy from jumping off a bridge to her doom.  As shocked as she is to see a man that can fly, it does help her open up and show him her ability to Nathan. Both Tracy and Nathan soon started making out. They're also shown as being married four years in the future, officially making Tracy the First Lady.
Over in Africa, Matt (Greg Grunberg) puts on Utusu's headphones and starts dreaming of the future.  He witnesses the destruction in Costa Verde, and also sees that Future Daphne had her back blown off in the massive explosion.  He wakes up in Africa and realizes that he must find the speedster, but Utusu tells him he has to find a mystical animal to guide him first. Matt thinks the turtle might do the trick, which is going to make for a very slow journey.
Hiro (Masi Oka) and Ando are still stuck in the Level 5 prison, and if that's not bad enough they're also not getting along.  Ando (James Kyson Lee) is pissed off that Hiro said he didn't need him, and Hiro is still freaked out that Future Ando killed him.  The two teamed up for a moment to open up a vent in the ceiling of the prison cell so they can escape. But after that, Ando refused to go up but agreed to help Hiro up. Just as Hiro gets halfway into the vent, the Haitian shows up to rain on their parade.
As the episode comes to an end, Angela (Cristine Rose) tells Hiro and Ando that the missing formula can grant people special abilities.  After informing Hiro that some mysterious person is watching them and manipulating them, she tasks him to go dig up a very pissed off Adam Monroe for help. When the casket first opened, Adam was closing his eyes, but it suddenly opened. He strangled Hiro, and delivered the last words of the episode, "Hiro, you son of a bi~~".

Trivia

  • The title "I Am Become Death" is a reference made to J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, following the the first test in New Mexico. Oppenheimer said: "If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one. Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." The key line itself is borrowed from the Hindu text, Bhagavad Gita.
