Irony

The first episode of Volume 5 is Orientation, then juxtaposed by some disorientation with Jump, Push, Fall? Has anyone else noticed this? --Isaac Mendez 15:12, 23 July 2009 (EDT)

I don't get it.--ERROR 07:53, 22 August 2009 (EDT)

Not a seperate episode

The next chapter Ink was credited as chapter two so I believe that Jump, Push, Fall should be combined with Orientation because they are one whole episode. SlicinDicinEdgar

Did we ever see the title card?

Was there a title card for this episode, or did it simply transition from Orientation? --Radicell 02:37, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

  • I didn't see one. I'm not sure where the break was, and I'm not sure we'll have a title card for this episode. As for where the break between the two episodes is, I didn't see anything clear. I would say that the commercial break closest to the one hour mark makes sense. That would mean Orientation ends with Sylar holding Matt Jr. Jump, Push, Fall begins with Sylar still holding Matt Jr., but then throws him to Matt Sr. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:41, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
    • If it's so, then we have to change the appearances again. --Janrodrigo 08:46, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
      • Just did. :) --Radicell 08:50, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
        • So, what if on the DVD(or Blue ray), what if there is a title card?! :) ~~IHHTalk 21:53, 27 September 2009 (EDT)
          • Awesome. Then we can use that title card. Hopefully, when the episodes are split up on the DVD, that will also tell us exactly where one episode ends and the next begins. And yes, we might have to redo appearances a little. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:37, 28 September 2009 (EDT)
            • That would be pretty awesome and yeah but it wouldn't be much editing... ~~IHHTalk 16:51, 28 September 2009 (EDT)

the student, in the dorm room, with a power

Is it just me or does Gretchen give off that, i pushed her out of the window, so i could get closer to you because i am very secretly helping the carnival get close to you vibe ?? Scorvi12--02:45, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

  • I totally got the vibe that she had something to do with the death. Don't know about the carnival though. --DarrellG 12:55, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
    • Well, i was three-quarters right. It was a student, in a dorm room, with a power. Except it wasn't Gretchen.. --Scorvi12 04:23, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Not only that, but you had the carnival part right as well. It wasn't Gretchen's motivation (she just wants to make kissy-face), but it was indeed the reason for the push. --Maelwys 15:25, 14 October 2009 (EDT)

Timeline issues

So those two graphic novels in which Ando and Kimiko run from the bikers never happenend now, and I find it hard to belive that they could be together for years, and she not know about their(Hiro and Ando) powers. Hopfully they ansewer clearly in a episode or graphic novel if she does.--Ratclaws 09:41, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

End of Orientation, Beginning of Jump, Push, Fall

I'm fairly sure Orientation ended after Tracy found Danko at about 40 mins in, then there was a commercial then a Claire scene, which began Jump, Push, FallTracyStraussFan 15:46, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

I agree, the way I saw it, it ended with Tracy looking at Danko, and then a heavy noise with a black screen, and then it started with the the Claire scene. Have they ever used a heavy noise with a black screen while the episode was still was on? Because that seemed like a finale of the episode to me. --Dman dustin 10:30, 24 September 2009 (EDT)

So, what do we add? I suppose Arlington, but also the college and Claire's dorm room? We also need to update Danko's apartment and wherever Noah's living. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 16:24, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

Written by Adam Armus & Kay Foster?

Anyone else saw in the credits the part where Noah is walking and appears the credit "Part Two Written by Adam Armus & Kay Foster" I thought Kring was writing both episodes.MattParkman456 19:43, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

References to past second episodes?

So, Hiro tries explaining the butterfly effect to Samuel, like Angela did to Future Peter in the second episode of season 3. And Claire uses her powers to test one of her bizarre theories, and gets caught in the act, like in the second episode of season 2. If there was a reference I missed to the second episode of season 1, this would be incredibly strange.--Gibbeynator 22:11, 22 September 2009 (EDT)

  • Well, the second episode of the first season was the first time that Matt was featured, and showed the first time he discovered his powers; this episode focused on Matt trying to not use his powers. Also, the whole business with the key inside Danko reminded me very much of the key that Mohinder finds. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:42, 22 September 2009 (EDT)
    • Yeah, it feels like there are too many similarities with the beginnings of Sesaon 1. --Janrodrigo 01:13, 23 September 2009 (EDT)

Character appearances

If there's "no discernible breaking point" between these two episodes, how do we order the character appearances? -- Tristan0709 talk 02:49, 23 September 2009 (EDT)

  • It's defined as the commercial break after we see Sylar holding Matt, Jr. --Radicell 03:04, 23 September 2009 (EDT)
    • Agree. That's the most logical spot to define "Part 1" and "Part 2". It's also right near the one hour mark. Unless we hear something more official about where Tim Kring stopped writing and Adam and Kay began, or where one director stopped and the other began, I think that the commercial break Radicell described is the best breaking point. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:21, 23 September 2009 (EDT)
      • On the NBC and Hulu video streams theres a 1:30 minute break between where Matt sees sylar holding Matt JR like in the trailers. Hulu also describes the bit after as part 2 and the bit before the break as part 1.--Fr0z3nB0nes 11:28, 23 September 2009 (EDT)
      • On air there was also a showing of the viewer rating code, which takes place at the break point in two-hour two-part episodes. --Gadfly 03:28, 24 September 2009 (EDT)

New flame :D

I don't know if anyone has thought about this but I'll say it anyway: Tracy and Noah sitting in a tree.... :D (at least that's what I got from the hospital scene) Meteoritu =D- 20:56, September 23rd 2009

      • Troah needs you--Manwithnoname 16:02, 24 September 2009 (EDT)
        • I noticed it too. I don't want this to happen. It just doesn't seem right. And just like Meteoritu said, I can't see him with anyone else either.--Catalyst · Talk · HL 17:01, 24 September 2009 (EDT)
          • Just think about all other relationships and what they do together. Maya and Mohinder. Tracy and Nathan. Sylar and Elle. Isaac and Simone. Simone and Peter. Sex. I can't even imagine Noah having sex let alone with Tracy! ~~IHHTalk 17:15, 24 September 2009 (EDT)
            • Dear Lord, the title of this section just put the lamest joke about this relationship in my head. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 17:17, 24 September 2009 (EDT)
              • They can't get together, because then one of them would either end up dying, or be completely forgotten about and left in a alternate universe.--Ratclaws 17:23, 24 September 2009 (EDT)
                • I will pray to Tim Kring if he manages to put this shipping alive --Manwithnoname 12:59, 26 September 2009 (EDT)

Not really an episode?

Perhaps this isn't really an episode, instead Orientation is simply an extra-long one? The reason I suggest this is because Episode:Ink's title card displayed it as "Chapter Two" instead of "Chapter Three"... --Radicell 04:27, 29 September 2009 (EDT)

  • A lot of things add up to "Jump, Push, Fall" not being an individual episode. For one, double-length episodes are very common in television, particularly for season premieres and finales. In addition, "Ink" is labeled as Chapter Two. "Jump, Push, Fall" does not appear as a title card anywhere in these episodes, there is no discernible opener for the second episode in the way that (as far as I can tell) every single episode begins. There was no "TO BE CONTINUED" or "TO BE CONTINUED... NOW" like in the beginning of Villains. The point we defined as the "break point" between episodes is on par with most of Heroes' cliffhanger commercial breaks. If the only reason we're still calling it two episode is because NBC.com said so (despite what the episodes themselves say), then we need to refer to this as the second part of the first episode, not its own episode. --Ricard Desi (t,c) 13:35, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
  • what does this page say about jump, push, fall? read here. sure it doesnt have a break so its have to have end credit and a new intro to become episode two? shouldn't we follow the samthing as NBC says? they say that jump, push, fall is epsisode two. shouldn't we also say it then? /Spikey
    • I don't see where it says that JPF is episode two. All I see on that page is that JPF and Orientation are listed out of order. The listing I've seen from NBC shows that JPF and Orientation are the same episode. But NBC has been wrong in the past, whichever way you look at it. NBC is not a canon source. Our canon source is the episodes themselves. In this case, there is no episode break between the two parts. The credits also list a director for "Part 1" and "Part 2", and it says, "Part 1 written by Tim Kring" and "Part 2 written by Adam Armus and Kay Foster". That's the source we use. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:33, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
      • So then, what we label as "Jump, Push, Fall" is not really an episode, but the second half of Orientation. So should this page (Episode:Jump, Push, Fall) even exist? After all, the name "Jump, Push, Fall" as an episode name is mentioned nowhere in the episodes themselves (which is our canon source). --Radicell 21:19, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
        • That's one way to go, Radicell. I wouldn't be opposed to merge the two pages...but it certainly would make a huge page to list two parts of a two-hour episode on one page. Plus, it would mean a ton more edits to remove the "Jump, Push, Fall" sections in all the character histories and elsewhere. I'm not opposed to a merge, but my gut says that it's just more trouble than it's worth. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:46, 9 October 2009 (EDT)
          • I think it's worth the trouble to make this move, since it seems to me a little disorganized that we'd split one "episode" into two "parts" that both start with the "Episode:" prefix. However, I'd like to see how many people agree with me on this, before I make the edits. --Radicell 03:32, 10 October 2009 (EDT)
            • I think it's better split into two pages. It may be a little unconventional, but I think it works just fine. --Skullman1392 11:41, 10 October 2009 (EDT)
              • I still think we should merge the pages. Why would we have a page titled "Episode:Jump, Push, Fall" when there was no episode called that? Anyone else dis/agree? --Radicell 04:12, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
                • I totally agree with you Radicell. There was really no episode called Jump, Push, Fall. Even NBC has changed its website now to say: Episode:Orientation/Jump, Push, Fall. I see the disadventage that Ryan has told before, that it'll be a very long page and that it's too much work to fix the links but I think they should be merged anyway. --Janrodrigo 04:26, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
                • It may not be an episode itself, but it is a part of one, the opening credits said "part 1 written by..." and just as we do with graphic novels, we need to have it split. --mc_hammark 05:51, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
                  • Right, but that's what it's been called: Part 1 and Part 2 of Orientation. Not "Orientation" and "Jump, Push, Fall". --Radicell 06:25, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
                    • But just like graphic novels they have subtitles (not the words on the screen type)! --mc_hammark 06:29, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
                      • But we never see two parts of the same graphic novel released on the same night! If NBC released a 14-page Graphic Novel on one night and labeled the first 7 pages "Part 1" and the last 7 pages "Part 2", we'd probably still consider it as one graphic novel. --Radicell 07:18, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
                        • I don't know about you, but if they were labeled as different parts but released on the same night, I would still give them separate articles. --mc_hammark 07:40, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
                          • I see both sides of the argument. I lean on the "keep them separate" side of the fence. I don't see the harm in keeping them separate. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:53, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
                            • It just causes inconsistencies, is all I'm saying. For example, on Chris Bowman's character page, it seems that he's appeared in 4 "episodes" when really we label him as having appeared in 3. I guess in the end it's all a matter of "We can make an exception for this" vs. "Let's stay standardized and by-the-book". --Radicell 06:35, 21 October 2009 (EDT)
                              • Even if we don't merge the articles, at least we should do two things. First change the name of the articles, Episode:Orientation and Episode:Jump, Push, Fall because they're not really episodes but just parts of an episode. May be "Episode:Orientation/Jump, Push, Fall Part 1" and "Episode:Orientation/Jump, Push, Fall Part 2" or something similar? There could be a page "Episode:Orientation/Jump, Push, Fall" which could direct us to both of the pages (similar in construction with disambig pages). Secondly in the article's summaries we can merge the histories of Orientation and Jump, Push, Fall in order to prevent the inconsistencies mentioned by Radicell above. --Janrodrigo 08:57, 21 October 2009 (EDT)

2 hours long

in the trivia it says it's the first two hour long episode. I kinda have a problem with that as that's taking the adverts into account. can we not say that it's double the length of a normal episode. Without breaks it's just over 42 mins, and this one was around 85 mins, just over double the length. --mc_hammark 12:58, 3 October 2009 (EDT)

Wrong Episode Number

According to the official NBC Heroes website, this is episode 4.02. Therefore, all the other episode numbers listed here are wrong and must be fixed: Ink is episode 4.03, Acceptance is 4.04, and so on. --Rotinaj42 20:11, 24 November 2009 (EST)

  • There are many other sources on NBC.com, NBCUMV.com, and elsewhere, which number the episodes the way we are numbering them. NBC typically is giving a new number for each hour; thus, Jump, Push, Fall would be the second hour (402) and Thankgiving would be the eleventh hour (411). However, we are ultimately using a canon source (the episodes) instead of a secondary (and sometimes unreliable) source (NBC.com). The canon source numbers the chapters in a very consistent way. Thus Jump, Push, Fall was not a new chapter (so it is the second part of 401, or 401b) and Thanksgiving is the tenth chapter (410). I know it's confusing, but we take what we're given and record it as best we can. When we're faced with an odd situation like this, the canon source will win out every time. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:22, 24 November 2009 (EST)

Slushy vs balloon

Just rewatched this episode, does anyone understand the point of the balloon that kimiko looses, a plot point for later on maybe? I just didn't understand the reason they focused on her saying that unless it was important, like the balloon would cause something to have changed drastically but we won't find it out. --mc_hammark 08:06, 14 January 2010 (EST)

  • I think Ando could very well buy her a new one, improving their relationship. AltesUTC CH 06:42, 15 January 2010 (EST)
