Hiro agrees and jumps one minute back into the past outside the hut. He sees a new painting outside of Usutu hitting him in the head with a shovel. Hiro turns and Usutu is behind him. The Butterfly Effect

When Hiro is about to bend space to go after the thief that stole his half of the formula, Ando gets a sad expression on his face as Hiro is about to go without him. Yet, Hiro teleports the two of them out. Later, Hiro tells him of the future he saw where Ando killed him. Ando reassured Hiro that it wasn't him and that he is his friend.

One of Us, One of Them

Hiro and Ando teleport to outside a movie theater in Berlin, Germany, where they expect Daphne to show up based on their tracking.

Hiro and Ando follow the Haitian into the theater, where the exchange is supposed to take place, and take seats behind him while they work out a scheme. Daphne interrupts their plotting, and tells them she's just doing this because some guy is paying her. She tries to turn Ando against Hiro, but fails to do so and appears to leave.

Hiro and Ando hatch a plan where Ando is supposed to play an usher, but instead Ando hits the Haitian over the head and knocks him out. Ando expresses a reluctance to continue playing the "sidekick" to Hiro, reflecting the doubts Daphne had just been trying to exploit.

I Am Become Death

In the present, Hiro and Ando are kept in a Level 2 holding cell. Hiro tries to escape using the vent, but Ando refuses to help. Ando is angry that Hiro said he didn't need him, and that he's risked his life to help Hiro because they are friends and partners. When Ando wonders if it's because in the future, he killed Hiro, and Hiro tells Ando that every time he sees Ando, he thinks about the future. Ando tells him that he would never hurt Hiro, but he's starting to see why his future self did.

In the present, Hiro tries to hook his belt buckle into the vent above to bring it down. Ando offers to help, but Hiro won't let him. The two fight, then Ando pulls it away, noting Hiro was always terrible at tug-of-war. Ando successfully gets the belt in the vent, and pulls it open. He tells Hiro to enjoy his escape, and Hiro is surprised that Ando does not want to help. Ando reminds Hiro that he didn't want Ando around anymore, so Hiro goes to the vent, but realizes it's too high for him to reach. He asks for Ando's help one last time, and Ando begins to give Hiro a boost. Hiro apologizes to Ando for being a bad friend, and vows to change.

Angels and Monsters

Hiro and Ando are drinking at the bar and Hiro insists they can't lose heart; the world is depending on them. Ando comments that it can't get any worse. As that is said Daphne and Knox enter the bar. They want to offer Hiro a job. Hiro says they're badasses and wants to sign up. Daphne says that it isn't that easy and that he has to prove himself. Knox takes a sword from the wall, gives it to Hiro, and says he has to kill Ando. Hiro takes the sword, apologizes to Ando (noting some sacrifices have to be made), and stabs his friend.

Dying of the Light

Hiro asks him how it feels to have a friend kill him. Ando says they're even and Hiro takes Ando with him as he teleports to Africa.

Ando and Hiro appear at Usutu’s hut in Africa. They see his paintings of the future and Hiro claims that they’re only going to “borrow” him so that he can convince Daphne’s employers he’s sincere. He goes into the hut and finds a fresh painting of Usutu hitting him in the head with the shovel. He turns around, and Usutu hits him over the head with a shovel.

Ando wakes up Hiro, who explains what happened. Ando suggests that Hiro travel back in time one minute to stop Usutu from ambushing him. Hiro is reluctant to do so, insisting he can’t change the past. However, Ando points out that Hiro jumped back in time two hours to save him earlier. Hiro agrees and jumps one minute back into the past outside the hut. He sees a new painting outside of Usutu hitting him in the head with a shovel. Hiro turns and Usutu is behind him. Usutu hits him in the head with a shovel, then goes inside the hut and knocks out the original Hiro.
