Easter Egg

Mr. Bennet, the Haitian and Eden. I don't think it's a still from an episode that's been on tv. Martijnvs 03:37, 29 July 2008 (EDT)

  • Since it's a behind-the-scenes image, I've updated the listing to use the actors real-life names. It's cool to see Eden again with her pre-Company appearance. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 05:36, 29 July 2008 (EDT)
    • How do we know when it's behind-the-scene or not? Wouldn't it be a better standard to always use the actor's names? Martijnvs 06:11, 29 July 2008 (EDT)
      • We always use behind-the-scenes unless we know for sure it's not. In-character images are screenshots from aired segments. Using the actors' names for ic doesn't make sense to me.--MiamiVolts (talk) 06:48, 29 July 2008 (EDT)
        • The most reasonable thing to do is of course to use actors names when it's behind the scenes shots (no matter how we chose to understand the term) and characters names when it's in-characters photos. That is the difference between the two, isn't it? :) Pierre 08:29, 29 July 2008 (EDT)
          • I agree with that, but I think it's not always possible to tell whether it's an in-character picture or not. Only when someone look directly in the camera you can be reasonably sure it's an bts-picture. I don't mind if my additions are rolled back or changed, but it would be nice if I can make useful contributions... Martijnvs 09:37, 29 July 2008 (EDT)
            • I think you misunderstand. If you can't find the shot in an aired episode, we're calling it behind the scenes. That should make it less difficult for you to distinguish. BTW, welcome to the club. Many contributions on a wiki end up eventually being slightly altered, reworded/reformatted, etc. No hard feelings... that's just how it works. Practice and experience help for your contributions to get less after-edits, but no one's perfect either.--MiamiVolts (talk) 09:53, 29 July 2008 (EDT)

Review

Great action in this novel. A shame, though, that they couldn't have filmed Echo's capture for part 3 of the webisodes, or else saved it for a part 4 sometime later. That would have been much better, imho. Anyways, this is still a good novel.--MiamiVolts (talk) 05:36, 29 July 2008 (EDT)

  • OK novel, although it's lacking much of the darkness of the webisodes imo. That might be since I'm not convinced in the greatness of artist Marcus To, finding his art too cartoonish. Nice to see Penny though, but I really think that Elle (even though I really like the character) is being a over-used in the novels. Pierre 05:59, 29 July 2008 (EDT)
    • Echo continues his rise into my favourite characters. --DocM 06:09, 29 July 2008 (EDT)

The Constrictor?

Although he is pretty much hidden by the title logo on page 2, the Constrictor does appear in the novel. Right? Pierre 08:33, 29 July 2008 (EDT)

  • I'd leave him off the appearances for now. We can't really tell if that's him, someone/something else behind the logo. When the animated novel is released, we should know for sure.--MiamiVolts (talk) 09:11, 29 July 2008 (EDT)

Penny

I thought Connie turned Elle into Gina because Elle is the only woman seen later on. Therequiembellishere 11:09, 29 July 2008 (EDT)

  • If you look closely, Penny's attire is different than Elle's in this novel. Penny gets knocked out cold, so that's why you don't see her again.--MiamiVolts (talk) 11:56, 29 July 2008 (EDT)

Conflicting information?

In the intro it says "Shortly before his power was reveled to his girlfriend, Gina, he accidentally killed a Company agent.", to me it didn't seem to much like an accident and technically he didn't kill him. Then in the novel it says "[Gina] thought my power was cool... until I accidentally killed a man by whispering in his ear.", is this talking about the same thing? If it is a later incident, it seems kind of odd that this is when he decided to "never kill again", unless it wasn't an agent. "They'd surrounded me in my home. They didn't even have the decency to knock.", is this shown on the webisode or is it a different time? On the webisode they did knock. -Lөvөl 13:43, 31 July 2008 (EDT)

Regarding the death of Agent Howard - remember that what we read in the novel is Echo's version of it all - when he fled from the Constrictor he thought that he had killed Howard. And since the Constrictor now is dead he will most certainly never now the truth.
The "whispering in the ear" could either refer to Howard or the Constrictor - either way it must be considered an euphemism - and imo one of the best lines of the novel :)
I also wondered about the knocking part - especially since the unnamed agent's knocking was the cliffhanger of the 2nd chapter. Reviewing all three webisodes the other day, I realized that Echo is absolutely right. Prior to the unnamed agents appearances, the agent only known as the Constrictor had broken into his and Gina's house, threatening to kill her. The knocking agents arrived later.
To sum it up - the seemingly conflicting information is just a result of the webisodes filming the actual events, while the GN retells it from Echo's POV, with his wording.
Actually pretty well written by Caise! :) Pierre 14:22, 31 July 2008 (EDT)
