Review

Ah, well, kind of disappointing in the reveal, but it's a well done novel (writing and art). Very exciting, and kudos to Jason Badower on getting the tissue to look like a tissue this time. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 04:06, 2 September 2008 (EDT)

  • Why is the word "b!tch" explicitly appeared in P.6 but was censored on P.7? Chrisyu357 04:49, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
    • It was a nice written pice, although it is hard to give a fair review until having read all three parts... As of the art - I *really* don't like Jason Badower stories. I realise I'm up against pretty much everybody, but I just can't see him as a comic book artist. He *is* skilled, in his own way, and I might even consider buying a painting by him, but as a comic artist? No way - too static, and too much photography-ish. With that said, he has done worse (read: Blackout). Thank God for Micah Gunnell :) Pierre 10:56, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
      • That's too bad you feel that way. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:01, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
        • Not really - I feel rather proud, being able to see beyond the hype ;) Not to mention that it reveals my good taste! Pierre 11:20, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
          • What hype? I'm no comic book connoisseur, but I like Jason's style because it is so different from the rest of the crowd. When his first GN, Road Kill, came out, it was a breath of fresh air from To and Gunnell's cartoony styles. I had NO trouble recognizing Characters, which is a major gripe that I have against Gunnell. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 20:42, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
      • Wow, I totally agree with you. He is a good artist: the graphic novel are very movie-like and detailed - too movie-like, in fact, that it doesn't look and feel like a comic. I like Marcus To's previous works, because it really looks like a comic, but I'll have to admit Going Postal is not as good as if he has drawn that one in a hurry. Chrisyu357 11:06, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
        • That exactly why I like Badower. The richness of the art, especially when he colors it himself, blows me away every time. That's why I give him an A here.--SacValleyDweller (talk) 20:42, 3 September 2008 (EDT)

Penny's father?

who said julien was penny's father?¿ and why is that stated in the novel's page?!¿ --cookie 12:17, 2 September 2008 (EDT)

  • Yeah, While it is very likely that Julien is Penny's father, it doesn't actually say it anywhere does it? -Lөvөl 12:21, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
    • right! it's very likely, and maybe penny doesn't know that and will find out in the next chapter :P --cookie 12:28, 2 September 2008 (EDT)

Connie

Knew it. My guess is either she'll die (as the Company obviously exists for season three) or she'll be a villain/hero next season. Therequiembellishere 15:14, 2 September 2008 (EDT)

  • I don't know if that's the real Connie, but it could be. If Connie had used her ability in the fight with Sabine, that would be a way to positively id her, but she didn't do that. Here's a question, though... where'd the escape driver go? The SUV should still at the house, right? But we didn't see him except for at the beginning of this episode.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:49, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
    • maybe the connie we see in part 1 is... penny! (altered by connie) she seems very good at fighting, and that will put julien as her husband, nos connie's :P just a guess --cookie 19:53, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
      • I don't know if that's the case, but I can guarantee that we don't know all there is to know about Evs yet. I don't think Evs's identity is as simple as just Connie and Julien... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:08, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
        • I agree with you there, Ryan. Also, I doubt Penny is involved in Connie's scheming. Penny has been opposed to Connie being in the Company; so I don't think she's going to help in taking down the Company.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:22, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
          • She can't use her power on herself. You know this really is the stereotypical, I'm-smarter-than-I-look. I think we underestimated her because she was presented as a ditz, but she is a Company agent. She has to have brains, combat skill and deductive reasoning already. Therequiembellishere 21:04, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
          • maybe she's not helping connie, she is just physically altered by her, by cohersion, who knows... you just said penny has been opposed to her --cookie 01:19, 3 September 2008 (EDT)

timeline problem with devin

i was reading Jason Badower's blog, the artist of Root & Branch GN and when he's talking about page 3 of r&b part III, he states The agents in panel 4 are Donna, Thompson, Devin and some random dude. (also read this)

... if Into the Wild, Part 1 is to be placed inmediately after Foresight... and that GN inmediately after Hindsight, and that inmediately after Root and Branch, Part 3... and so on... at this point Devin Patterson MUST BE alive...

but, in page 1 of Hindsight we read Evs Dropper has been responsible for several agents deaths, including Patterson, Bianca's partner. how is he dead if he is alive in Root and Branch, Part 1, and then still there in julien's scape (Root and Branch, Part 3) so there it is... where is the Berlin story placed?!¿ --cookie 00:33, 3 September 2008 (EDT)

  • I think if we interpret the Company arc roughly like this, then we're OK. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 00:43, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
    • the problem is that devin is alive in R&B part 3 so the berlin arc can't be before that... BUT hindsight, foresight and into the wild part 1 are placed right after R&B part 3 as it is clearly stated in all the GNs... HUSTON we have a problem --cookie 00:47, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
      • I recall that Jason, the artist of r&b pt 3, said that Devin was supposed to be there. However, since we didn't recognize him, we didnt acknowledge it. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:09, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
        • well, it is the guy right next to donna in panel 4 from R&B part 3, and if you read Jason's blog, he says devin is there --cookie 01:14, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
          • I think it may be easier to say that Devin wasn't there, despite what more official sources say. That's what Im doing anyway. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:23, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
            • Is there any reason to think that the Berlin novels couldn't have occurred before R&B1?--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:42, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
              • The timing seems about right: We know that Gael, Devin, and Bianca are in Berlin while Donna, Junior, Fallon and co are in Virginia from the blurb in front of KS 1. It fits better as a tight cohesive story to place Sabine and Hartsdale clone in Utah at the same time. It also fits in kind that the big bag and tag would happen before Berlin; they all meet up back at HQ before going on their respective new missions. I suppose that it can be reinterpreted any number of ways. Anyway, That's my story and I'm sticking to it! --SacValleyDweller (talk) 02:11, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
              • I think it would be better to assume Devin is alive in R&B3, since that's how Jas drew it. I'd rather not discount that for our official timeline. I'll try and puzzle it out some more tomorrow.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:32, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
              • mhh yes, cause devin dies in berlin, and then he goes with bianca for the big bag & tag :) so that must be reversed, first the big bag & tag and then berlin, the problem is that berlin should be before hindsight but after R&B3 (damn i can't wait for part 2) --cookie 02:51, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
                • Jason Badower, as supreme and terrific a resource as he is, is not an official source. He's good information. The official source is the graphic novels. Sure, let's take what Jason says and try to "puzzle it out", but let's not assume that Devin is there just because Jason says so. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:46, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
  • right, i think the same way. maybe someone can ask him if NBC told him to draw devin explicitly in the novel --cookie 16:29, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
    • The question is whether Devin was in the script, or whether it was Jas's decision to draw him. I think it was the former, as I recall from the interview that in the R&B novels, they purposely avoided using mainstream characters like Elle to avoid problems in the timeline.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:01, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
