(A) Holy smokes! Say it ain't so! (B) Cool tie ins! --SacValleyDweller (talk) 04:07, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Ok, I'll say it ain't so. Donna and Thompson are down, but I doubt that they're dead (probably just knocked unconscious). It was a cool ending, with lots of flashbacks...which were good, but I was hoping for more "in-depth content". I mean, I felt it was a good novel, but the flashbacks could have used more depth...they tied in a lot there, but glossed over so much. The drawing was okay, but not pristine... could have used thinner lines and brighter colors, I think. The lettering was excellent as always.--MiamiVolts (talk) 04:21, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- I will add that there's so many characters, locations/places referenced in this novel that I'm really looking forward to part 2. With most of the character development already done, it could be really good. :) BTW, I left out Sean's military commander from the list of character appearances. If anyone thinks it might be worthwhile, feel free to add him.--MiamiVolts (talk) 05:26, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- I quite liked this one, one of the best in recent months. An open ending, with lots of references, albeit like Miami said, they're not very detailed. But there's only so much you can do in 8 pages I guess. Loads of info to add too (places, people etc.) -- Friskymuffin - (talk) 08:36, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- I noticed Ivan Spektor wasn't on the checklist.--Citizen 08:40, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Well noticed. I think he should have some info at least, as he is mentioned. -- Friskymuffin - (talk) 08:43, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

Kill squad
As far as I can tell, Tom and Drake are different members of the team. The team consists of 5 members: Sean Fallon, Tom, Drake, Rosetti and Ballou.--MiamiVolts (talk) 11:16, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
upon closer inspection:
Page 2, panel 3: Sean caption: "Then there's Drake, who wont let anyone forget how long he's been doing this." Man: "You're both full of it. Back in my day, before Bennet went soft, we rean missions under Spektor. That Bastard was the real thing. Sean?" Sean: "Before my time, Tom. You know that." --SacValleyDweller (talk) 17:08, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
We don't find out who the name of the person in image 3. -- Friskymuffin - (talk) 17:43, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Ok, after reinspecting the images and dialogue, I now think the unknown squad member could be Steve Gustavson. Does anyone else agree?--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:24, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Could be, but (1) its unclear in that panel who is speaking or if the man in question is even in the panel and (2) We have little reason to suspect that Steve was misrepresenting himself and was anything else other than an agent of the Nevada State Gaming Commission. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 19:15, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Ok, just a thought. Rosetti following Hiro around the states had gotten me thinking more about that.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:46, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- What do ya know, Harrison said on 9th Wonders that not one, but two of the kill squad members from the story have already appeared in episodes of the show.--MiamiVolts (talk) 04:53, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
- Ok, just a thought. Rosetti following Hiro around the states had gotten me thinking more about that.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:46, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Heres a list of people who COULD be mebers of the team.
- Linderman's cop
- Corinthian security guard =Ballou?
- Francis =Rosetti?
- Linderman's guard
- Linderman's guard (II) =Rosetti?
- Linderman's henchman
- Kaito's henchmen =Fallon?
- Primatech agent= Unknown guy?
- Rufus
- Stanley= Rosetti?
Duno if eny of them are, but Francis looks a lot like Corinthian security guard. --Skywalkerrbf 06:30, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
- Francis/Francus is not one of the members as far as I can tell. Where are you getting that name from???--MiamiVolts (talk) 07:45, 10 July 2008 (EDT)

- Might Tom Drake = the phony exterminator? --SacValleyDweller (talk) 22:57, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

candice
mhhh, saylar killed her and then illusion dissapeared... but there (below page 6) she is dead and still being her, WHY? --cookie 12:10, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- My thoughts: Sean never knew what she really looked like and he imagined her like that when he found out she was dead.--Citizen 12:15, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- could be but it seems that all the pages have the pictures of his thoughts, and how he remembers every situation --cookie 12:36, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Good question. Could be a number of reasons: 1) that's a shot of Candice before she returned to her natural form, 2) he's remembering Candice only as he wants to remember her, 3) Candice didn't really die, but instead pretended to be dead so she could see how Sylar tries to absorb abilities and then went into hiding, or something entirely different. Can you tell I like option #3? :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:17, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- mhhh, as i said, it's difficult... eventually number 2 seems to be the most likely --cookie 12:36, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- "Candice didn't really die, but instead pretended to be dead so she could see how Sylar tries to absorb abilities and then went into hiding" Ugh.--Citizen 12:39, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- "Candice didn't really die, but was replaced by a stuffed gorilla that looked identical to her. She is currently living in the Amazon rainforest, where she is literally becoming one with nature. Soon, she will be a part of the grass, and the world will be saved forever." --DocM 12:41, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- So that means that Candice would have a plant mimicry power just like Lewis! But that can't happen cause you can only have one power. :) --Rayhond 12:44, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

My guess is that it is a production goof of some kind. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 14:56, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- I thought that if it showed "Betty" lying there, dead, it wouldn't be the Candice that Sean knows and it may cause some confusion as to who it was. Showing "Candice" with no head is the easiest way to make the story less confusing, as it's probably how Sean remembers her and it's in keeping with her image for his other flashbacks of her. -- Friskymuffin - (talk) 17:46, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
Lewis's ability
This guy doesn't just grow plants, his body mimics them, so it's a much different power than plant growth. It's very much like water mimicry, but with plants, thus the name I'm suggesting is plant mimicry.--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:17, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- But he leaves them behind also because Donna finds one of the plants that doesn't grow there. So what do you think of that.--Rayhond 12:24, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Perhaps Lewis does leave them behind. The water mimicry guy could also leave water behind too. That doesn't mean his ability is just water creation.--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:28, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Donna herself calls it plant growth. Maybe we should wait for part 2 to see how different this is from Au Co's ability.--Citizen 12:32, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Donna asks if Thompson thinks all the plant growth is "Lewis", to which Thompson says "no". He does say, however, that his skin exhibited signs of photosynthesis and that some of the plants there are not indigenous to North America.--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:56, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

I'm not sure this is the correct place to discuss this, but like parkmans (sr. and jr.) ability was initially just mind reading before becoming telepathy, couldnt more, if not most, abilities share this tendency: to first be a simple ability then with "regular use" become a more powerful and slightly different ability? --Lokomono 14:15, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- No. That is impossible. ----Action Figure 17:33, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Contrair, Action Figure! It could be. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 17:47, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- I agree with Locomono, as the evolved human gains more control of their power it can develop and have more/different characteristics that may be a feature of other powers. -- Friskymuffin - (talk) 17:49, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- Well, Thompson Jr. did say Lewis's ability had mutated, and from Donna´s comment it seems that he wasn´t originally capable of manipulating plants like he does now. However, we don´t know if his original power was indeed plant growth (which, in turn, would mean that Au Co was inexperienced using her power), so I think we should either list it as a different ability or wait for the next GN/assignment tracker update.--Referos 17:52, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- I'm happy with plant mimicry, at least for now. -- Friskymuffin - (talk) 17:57, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- I agree as well; I don't see what else they could have meant by his ability mutating other than becoming more powerful. One step below growing plants out of your body has got to be growing them from other sources, and it explains the unnatural flora. But lets play it safe and wait for a profile or an interview to clear it up. --Yamawhata? 22:16, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
- I was just joking, SacValleyDweller (talk) :) ----Action Figure 00:15, 9 July 2008 (EDT)
- What "other vegetation" is there except plants? --Juba 13:30, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
- Vegetation and plants are different, admittedly it is phrased poorly but vegetation refers to plants, trees, roots etc. so its a far more general term. -- Friskymuffin - (talk) 14:19, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
