Interview with Adam and Kay

Adam Armus and Kay Foster have agreed to an interview, which is very cool of them. We're setting up a time still, but it'll probably be Monday evening, January 14. I'll post more definite information as things are finalized, of course. For those of you who don't know, Adam and Kay are both producers of Heroes. They have also been writing partners for about seventeen years, and are the minds behind Homecoming, Run!, and The Line. Questions should probably focus on those episodes, though other questions are absolutely welcome. Submit away! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:52, 10 January 2008 (EST)

  • Just a note: there's no need to sign your questions. When I type them up and print them off, I always delete signatures and timestamps. I don't mind if they're there, but there's no need to put them. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:32, 11 January 2008 (EST)
  • Just a quick reminder to everybody that Adam and Kay and I are going to be talking tonight at 8 pm EST. Any last minute questions about Homecoming, Run!, or The Line should be submitted before then. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:11, 14 January 2008 (EST)
    • Great conversation last night. We were interrupted a few times by dying cell phones, phone glitches, and exuberant children, but we managed to have a really nice conversation. • Ryan is still transcribing Nate's transcript, you so may be waiting a bit.--MiamiVolts (talk) 11:38, 17 January 2008 (EST)
        • I only do transcribing when my wife is at work (she works nights). She's been really sick lately, so she's taken some time off, and I haven't gotten my transcribing finished. Questions for Adam and Kay

  • Since Season Two was cut short due to the writer's strike, are more episodes going to be produced for Season Three to make it a full season? --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 22:27, 10 January 2008 (EST)
  • You both appear to have started your film career co-writing several episodes for Xena: Warrior Princess and a few of Hercules: The Legendendary Journeys. Is this correct? Have either of you written for theater or other mediums?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:16, 10 January 2008 (EST)
  • Were you both on the set of the Hercules and Xena shows, which were filmed in New Zealand? Do you find it a very different experience working for a tv series that is filmed abroad?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:16, 10 January 2008 (EST)
  • Do either of you have any preference for action series over drama series or vice versa?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:16, 10 January 2008 (EST)
  • There is a little bit of that physical conflict in Heroes. Did you direct the fight sequences with your writing, or is most of that choreographed on-set by the actors and instructors?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:16, 10 January 2008 (EST)
  • The two of you wrote 'Lyre, Lyre, Hearts on Fire' (aired in 2000) for Xena, which was a musical episode. Have either of you pursued any additional music writing since then?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:16, 10 January 2008 (EST)
  • During the first season, when you wrote 'Homecoming', and 'Run!', how far ahead was the script writing from the producing?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:16, 10 January 2008 (EST)
  • The Season Two episode, The Line, which you both co-wrote, was dedicated to Tim Susco, who had passed away. Did either of you know Tim, and/or want to share anything about that? Heroes Wiki has donated to both the Give-Life Foundation and the Brain Aneurysm Foundation in dedication to him.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:16, 10 January 2008 (EST)
  • In The Line, Adam is presumed dead but we later learn he didn't die from the explosion that killed Whitebead and most of his men. So should we fear the worst about Yaeko's fate since Adam wasn't dead? Also, were there any cut scenes that described Yaeko's fate?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:16, 10 January 2008 (EST)
    • This episode was actually Out of Time - where Hiro and Adam's first fight occurs. The Line is about Adam's betrayal when Hiro breaks the space-time continuum. Question could still work, I suppose. Hope that clears things up. --DocM 11:09, 11 January 2008 (EST)
  • When/why did you pursue writing for television? What was special about television versus writing for some other medium (movies, newspaper, fortune cookies)?--Bob (talk) 02:48, 11 January 2008 (EST)
  • In The Line, Peter and Caitlin goes to a Montreal warehouse, and there is Whitebeard's flag inside the warehouse! Of course, we now know Adam is Kensei. Adam also tell Peter to go to that specific warehouse in Four Months Ago (not to mention the symbol appearing above the door). So, does the warehouse belong to Adam, or is the flags just an easter egg? 08:43, 11 January 2008 (EST)
  • In Powerless we see Adam going after a gold key in the vault after he already has the virus will this be important later?
    • I don't think they'll know the answer to that...--Hero!(talk)(contribs) 11:09, 11 January 2008 (EST)
      • Adam and Kay are both producers of Heroes, so they might know some answers to minutae, and I don't mind asking. However, I'm going to probably restrict my questions to focus more on the three episodes they wrote. But people can certainly post whatever questions they want; if I get a chance, I'll ask them. It's also good for me to know what's on other fans' minds. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:32, 11 January 2008 (EST)
  • Both episodes Homecoming and Run! are full of fight scenes, like the Sylar vs. Peter moments. How was the working in these episodes? (I'm not sure if I was clear enough, so, please, if someone can help me...) Scarlet Girl, 11 January 2008.
  • We were introduced to Zane's melting power in Run!, and got another glimpse of it in the next episode. Any chance we might see Sylar melt anything again?
  • Not a question, but let Adam know that some of us loved the old picture we had of him. --Hardvice (talk) 12:50, 11 January 2008 (EST)
    • Can you talk about being a female writer in Hollywood, is if just as rare in sci-fi? Any thoughts.
    • Adam Since your a lawyer any chance Nathan will go back to being a lawyer? Parkman and Petrelli are alredy close to the Heroes version of Law and Order? (He's a cop who reads minds, he's a lawyer who can fly -- together they solve crimes)
    • Can you talk about the process of breaking stories and how far in advanced that all happens. Do you, or did you, have a frame work for an entire season, tent polls, or do you do that in smaller degrees?
  • Will Claire ever learn what happened to her car? And who was driving in it?
  • Will we find out what happened to Caitlin?
  • Did we ever find out if Monica was injected with the virus? Bob said there were more people who could inject her besides Mohinder. Even though Mohinder destroyed the cabinet of viruses, there were more samples in later episodes.
  • Will we ever find out how Sylar gets his acquired powers?
  • Will we find out eventually how Peter could see and talk to Charles Deveaux in "How To Stop An Exploding Man" (the episode, not the comic)?
  • (I'm not sure which episode this is in, if it wasn't The Line, don't ask) How did Adam get the picture of the company founders if he was locked up? What about the Montreal tickets? PsilaqTalk to me 3:27 11 January 2008
  • In The Line,Whose hand is depicted in the painting 3/8? (the one with the Shanti Virus in someone's hand)(I get dibs!)PsilaqTalk to me 4:07 11 January 2008 (EST)
    • Dibs on what? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:48, 11 January 2008 (EST)
      • Like calling shotgun. :) He's saying he's first to suggest it as a question given the discussion on the image page. (Admin 18:54, 11 January 2008 (EST))
  • I wasn't sure about these questions but I thought I'd ask anyway. There is a youtube video of the volume three trailer ,but the quality is poor so will NBC release a quality version for us? Also how much longer can the strike go on before it's too late to do anything else with season 2?---Wilson84 18:03, 11 January 2008 (EST)
  • For Heroes Volume 3: Villains, how many villains will there be? will they all actually meet each other or are you not allowed to say that? Will they all have destructive powers?
  • In The episode The Line, one of isaacs paintings predicts hiro and takezo kensei fighting, wouldnt this mean isaac painted the past rather than the future??---Andrew Mck666 19:59, 12 January 2008 (GMT)
  • Will there be a Peter versus Sylar fight that actually uses a lot of their powers? Maybe something like in Five Years gone, but we would get to the see the ending of the fight or like in Homecoming, if Peter knew how to use his powers. Finally will there be more Peter and Claire interaction in the episodes to come? They are great on screen together.---Jedimasterchief9
  • What is the name of the woman standing to the left of Linderman in the group of 12 picture?
    • See previous interview for better phrasing of this question.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:07, 13 January 2008 (EST)
  • Do you know if Hana Gitelman will make another appearance onscreen? Martinpetrelli94321 20:46, 13 January 2008 (EST)
    • Her physical body is dead, so no. --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 22:01, 13 January 2008 (EST)
