** No idea. I've already asked Joe Tolerico. He called Tom "the iStory writer", but we know that others have contributed. I would stick to questions that focus on "The Agent"...but if there are any questions about previous chapters, I don't see the harm in posting them. Maybe in a different section, but only if there are really any burning questions... -- 21:31, 19 March 2009 (EDT)

I still need to add some images Tom sent, and do some more formatting before the interview goes "public". That'll be later tonight. In the meantime, enjoy! :) -- 18:27, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
* Terrific interview, Ryan! Lots of great information gleaned there; thanks for using so many of my questions. And thanks again Tom for the shoutout! PS. ** That's not Tom. He sent a picture which I'll upload later tonight. I have a meeting I'm leaving for in about 15 minutes, and then I'll finish the interview after Lost. Incidentally, Tom also sent some other images, one of a flowchart, and one of a diagram (both of which are linked and referenced in the interview). They're pretty cool and kind of intensely detailed. You'll see. But yeah, Tom gave some great answers. I was impressed with how clear he is--I guess he'd have to have an organized mind to keep track of the entire iStory, and then some. But what great details, eh? Man, oh man, I'm impressed. Anybody who isn't already reading the iStories should definitely go check them out. Wow. ...Incidentally, I don't ever include (or omit) questions based on who submitted them. When it comes time for me to send the questions, the first thing I do is remove any signatures from them so I'm left purely with questions and nothing else. Then I do some rewording, combining, and organizing so the questions have some flow, so they're all kind of written a similar style, and so nothing is asked twice (or at least I try to). So if I asked a bunch of your questions, it's less to do with me choosing your questions, and more to do with the fact that you just asked some really great questions that begged asking. :)<p>Incidentally, one thing you could do for me, Miami, is to put some links to the iStories in the interview. You're much more familiar than I am when it comes to where everything iStory-related is on the wiki. I commented out "LINK???" everywhere I thought it would be appropriate for us to link to a specific chapter or segment. If you could take care of that, that'd be awesome. Thanks, Volts! -- 19:33, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

* Who portrays Brian?
* Doug is mentioned once in chapter 9, when Barbara calls out to him, to let him know a kid (Anna) was in the tent. Is he the same person as Bobby, the ringmaster/magician? If not, what is his ability? What kind of relationship do Doug and Barbara have besides working in the circus together?
* Linda/Leona pointed a thumb towards the man and woman who are pretend-Siamese twins for the circus and appear to have some kind of phasing ability that lets them walk though each other. Then, she introduced Victor and Valerie. Are they the same people? If so, why did Anna say that they never talked to her, when the pretend-Siamese woman was the person to calm her down in the previous chapter? Also, what did Leona/Linda mean when she told Anna that they couldn't leave the circus until the twin was safe?
* Is Victor's and Valerie's ability related to their being twins? Were they in Bobby's circus when Rebel discovered them?
* What can you tell us about the origins/history of Bobby's circus and how evolved humans began working there? Did Rebel help Bobby to create the circus?
* The symbol for "Ellen", the underground railroad, was described as a hammer surrounded by four stars. However, an image of it was never shown. What is the correct placement of the stars (horizontal and at 90 degrees, or at 45 degree diagonals?) In the story, who came up with the idea for this "Ellen" symbol? Is there actually an "other team" Rebel started that Leona tells Anna about, or did she make that up? If it actually exists, do we know the people already on it?
* Is Barbara in the iStory the triplet of Tracy Strauss that Dr. Zimmerman referred to? If not, was she originally meant to be? When Barbara almost drowned Rachel and Janey, did she become water herself or did she just generate water from her hands?
* Is the sand that Gordon Hovey creates pure silicon dioxide (silica), or is it a dirty sand with a different chemical makeup? (Ryan note: If you would rather send this to Bill Hooper, that's okay)
* Is Crazy Tom named after you? Does this character actually transform what a person is wearing, or is he creating an illusion? Can he transform things that are not worn?
* Will we find out why Leona chose the name Linda Niles? Is Leona related to or did Leona know of Linda Tavara? Does Leona transfer life force to and from herself like the Wraith? Or is something else going on with her ability?
* Mary Krause's blood appeared to be acidic, and we have been told that was due to her ability. Can you tell us anything about the drug/gas that was applied through the fugitives' noses to keep Mary and the rest of the fugitives unconscious?
* At the end of chapter 12 of The Agent, the story says that "Janey hasn't been seen again. Yet." Will the iStory continue throughout the summer? Did Anna eat her Wheaties?

I hope that's not too many, but I think these are the main ones we have been exploring. I tried to word them so we would gleam new information, but I'll understand if you need to trim them down.--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:38, 3 May 2009 (EDT)

New Interview

Hey all! I am going to be interviewing Tom Inkel, who is credited as the iStory writer. I'm not sure how many writers there are altogether, but NBC has put me in touch with Tom. So, any questions you have the the iStory, feel free to submit them below. Tentatively, the questions will be sent on Monday, March 23. More information to come, I'm sure. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:28, 19 March 2009 (EDT)

  • Should we assume Tom was involved in writing all three volumes or just "The Agent"?--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:03, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
    • No idea. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:31, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
    • I confirmed it was all three volumes. (Admin 22:38, 19 March 2009 (EDT))
      • Awesome. You da man, Admin. So everybody should feel free to add any questions about any of the iStory content. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:44, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
        • Sorry it took so long to get this interview rolling. I talked to NBC about it a week or two ago, I've just been too busy and haven't had the chance to setup the interview page and all so I asked them to just contact you directly since you do this enough that you probably have the whole thing down. :) (Admin 22:57, 19 March 2009 (EDT))
          • That works--thanks, Admin! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:41, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
            • Thanks for confirming that, Admin! It's great to finally have the chance to learn some more about this process.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:35, 22 March 2009 (EDT)
            • I've searched around the internet for some background on Tom Inkel, but I can't find any so I added my suggested questions the best I could. Good luck with the interview, Ryan (and please don't forget to ask for a photo). :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:56, 23 March 2009 (EDT)
  • Have you already heard back from Tom? I'm wondering if this photo might be a picture of him...--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:12, 29 March 2009 (EDT)
    • No, I haven't heard back from Tom. Believe me, when I do, I'll post the interview within an hour of checking the email. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:34, 29 March 2009 (EDT)

Questions about the iStory

  • In The Agent, Chapter 5, Rachel's story matches the events of Exposed very closely. Toward the end of both "Operation" iStories, there are 14 different endings, yet most do not make sense for the segueway into Red Eye, Part 1. Do you and the other writers have a specific pathway and ending to the stories? I liked what was done with The Agent, Chapter 5 where Rachel goes, "That's what could have happened, but what actually happened was..." --Heroes360 23:14, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
  • Who does the art for the character portraits in iStory? --Radicell 07:29, 20 March 2009 (EDT)
  • the character jason... he really dies in the istory, in the canon?--Manwithnoname 08:31, 20 March 2009 (EDT)
  • when they refer to the old contacts of evs dropper, u mean the players who interacted with him or the real characters who were sided with evs?--Manwithnoname 08:31, 20 March 2009 (EDT)
  • will these storylines ever be touched in the tv series?--Manwithnoname 08:31, 20 March 2009 (EDT)
  • will we ever see ricardo silva again? by the way what is his nationality?--Manwithnoname 08:31, 20 March 2009 (EDT)
  • did u ever think of wirting a heroes episode? if you did, u enjoyed it?--Manwithnoname 08:31, 20 March 2009 (EDT)
  • Is Anna's power the same as the Haitian's, or something different? Please be as definitive as possible. --Yamawhata? 00:02, 21 March 2009 (EDT)
  • Could Rachel one day be able to access an ability that more closely resembles Hiro's? Or is it a different power altogether?--Laudo
  • What did you use for inspiration for that dream sequence chapter?--Tarot 04:04, 22 March 2009 (EDT)
  • the hacker volts who is he? how does rachel know him?--Zoga78 04:10, 22 March 2009 (EDT)
  • Rachel's role in events throughout the iStory as well as the graphic novels has differed substantially from how non-readers see her on-screen. Assuming she eventually comes out on the show as a special, will there be any on-screen development leading up to that? Or will it just appear (to those who don't view the secondary sources) as an abrupt, unexplained change? -- Shade 17:23, 22 March 2009 (EDT)
  • How much interaction do you have with the show's producers and the graphic novel writers? To what extent do the three Heroes mediums mesh together, and to what extent do they exist separately? -- Shade 17:32, 22 March 2009 (EDT)
  • Are we likely to see more characters, such as Anna, or Janey, that have so far only existed offscreen on the show? -- Shade 17:32, 22 March 2009 (EDT)
  • Are there any other choose-your-adventure type stories you have written that we might be able to read? What are some of your other works? Do you also work on designing the iStory and Heroes Evolutions websites? Have you done any other work for Heroes?
  • Can you describe your writing process for making the iStory? Do you draft it by yourself? Is it difficult to think up so many "what-ifs" for ending the story? To what extent did Harrison Wilcox help you with writing the "Friend or Foe" volume? Should he be credited as co-writer? Is there a separate production company/producer for the iStory like there is for the graphic novels?
  • In "The Private", the story started having polling for participants to decide how the story moves forward. Would Rachel's story in "The Agent" be different if the audience had voted a different way in "The Private"? If yes, how so?
  • Also, regarding "The Private", would you say that the blue girl in the Biological Warefare facility in Iran had a form of Daphne's super speed? Did the man slowly bending the cage bars have a defective version of enhanced strength like Mohinder did?
  • In "Friend or Foe", do you know who portrayed the character of Ricardo Silva for the video that accompanied the story?
  • Can you tell us about where you were born and grew up, and how you got interested in writing?

Still to come

I still need to add some images Tom sent, and do some more formatting before the interview goes "public". That'll be later tonight. In the meantime, enjoy! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:27, 8 April 2009 (EDT)
