John Rhys-Davies is the narrator of the mini-series Sword Saint.

About

John Rhys-Davies is a Welsh actor who was raised in many different places including Africa, England, and Wales. He graduated from the University of East Anglia and refined his craft in London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. He has appeared in dozens of TV shows. His multiple episode roles include playing a hologram of Leonardo da Vinci in Star Trek: Voyager (1997), "Prof. Maximilian Arturo" in Sliders (1995-1997), three separate characters in Murder, She Wrote (1988-1994), and "Agent Michael Malone" in The Untouchables (1993-1994). He has also appeared in many Hollywood blockbusters including the Indiana Jones series as "Sallah" (1981-1989), The Lord of the Rings series as "Gimli" (2001-2003), and The Lost World series as "Professor Challenger" (1992).

Besides his work acting and narrating, John Rhys-Davis is also a writer and associate producer. He wrote episodes The Exodus: Part 1 and Part 2 of Sliders (1997), and he co-wrote and acted in the independent film Tusks (1990). For the animation, The Legend of Sasquatch (2006), John was both the voice of Ranger Steve and an associate producer.

  • In 1981, John Rhys-Davies was nominated for an Emmy in the category Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or a Special for his acting in the television mini-series, Shogun (1980).
  • In 2007, The Legend of Sasquatch won an award from the International Family Film Festival in the category Best Feature Film - Animation.
  • John was also nominated and won several awards for acting ensemble for the Lord of the Rings film series: Screen Actors Guild Awards (nominated 2002 for Fellowship of the Ring, 2003 for The Two Towers; won 2004 for The Return of the King)
