John Rhys-Davies is a Welsh actor who was raised in many different places including Africa, England, and Wales. He graduated from the University of East Anglia and refined his craft in London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. He has appeared in dozens of TV shows. His multiple episode roles include playing a hologram of Leonardo da Vinci in Star Trek: Voyager (1997), Prof. Maximilian Arturo in Sliders (1997), Murder, She Wrote, and The Untouchables. He has also appeared in many Hollywood blockbusters including the Indiana Jones series as "Sallah", The Lord of the Rings series as "Gimli", and The Lost World series as "Professor Challenger".
