About
Born to two deaf parents, Louise was taught at a young age to speak properly by her aunt, who then introduced acting to Louise. Louise graduated from the University of North Carolina and later traveled to Los Angeles where she took acting classes. Fletcher received an Academy Award in 1975 for her portrayal of Nurse Ratched in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." On television, she is most prominently known for her portrayal as "Kai Winn Adami" in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She has also appeared in television shows such as ER, Joan of Arcadia, 7th Heaven, and The Practice. She has also had theatrical roles in Stephen King's Firestarter, Exorcist II.
