Psycho is a 1960 suspense/horror film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and was originally inspired by the crimes of Wisconsin serial killer Ed Gein. The film depicts an encounter between a secretary who is in hiding after embezzling from her employer, and lonely and profoundly disturbed hotel proprietor.
About
Unexpected
Mohinder and Sylar (masquerading as Zane Taylor) stay the night in a motel in rural Bozeman, Montana while visiting Dale, an evolved human with enhanced hearing.
Notes
- The establishing shot of the motel is very similar to the establishing shot of the Bates Motel in Psycho, including the "Vacancy" sign outside.
- Both motels contain mentally disturbed killers.
- Sylar and Mohinder check into rooms 22 and 23, respectively. Marion checks into room 1.
- Some have found Sylar (especially as Gabriel Gray) and Norman Bates (especially as Anthony Perkins's portrayal) to be similar in appearance: both have an unassuming look and a simple haircut. They both appear to be in their early-to-mid-20s. They are both tall, slender, and handsome. The relationships they have with their mothers are similar as well--their dysfunctional relationships help motivate Sylar and Norman to murder.
