Sigmund Freud was an Austrian physician who is sometimes referenced on Heroes.

Freud is famed for his theories of the unconscious mind and his idea of repression. He pioneered the practice of psychoanalysis through dialogue between a patient and a psychoanalyst. Freud is also well known for his ideas on sexual desire, free association, transference, and the interpretation of dreams.

In Chennai, India, Mohinder and Nirand discuss the dreams Mohinder has been having, including finding out about his sister. Nirand says that children often bury information in their subconsciouses; he says Freud would say same thing.

Later, when Mohinder insists he has seen a boy in his dreams, Nirand insists that Freud would tell him the boy is merely a manifestation of Mohinder's subconscious.

Then, in a dream, Mohinder sees Nirand tell Chandra the same thing: Freud would tell Chandra that the boy is just part his subconscious.

Cautionary Tales

Echoing Freud's Electra complex theory, Sandra tells Noah that "girls tend to find boys just like their dads."

Graphic Novel:Pieces of Me

Ryan Covington falls to what should have been his death. Surviving, Ryan says that he believes that Freud was an idiot. Sanjog Iyer gives Ryan information about dreams.

Heroes Evolutions

Bridget Bailey writes an email to Mohinder telling him that her ability seems to manifest that which she most fears it will. She wonders what Freud would make of that.
