:Since we fans and viewers don't have the script on hand (unfortunately), the next/secondary source would be those who do have access to the script.  In other words, the writers, the cast, NBC-ers and such folks who'd be in the know/loop.  Still, if Heroes Wiki's guidelines for what makes acceptable content are like Wikipedia's (and I don't know if they are), then wouldn't published/citable/verifiable statements (or other secondary sources on record) have the most authority/weight on dividing fact from speculation?

Alonzo or Alonso?

So it's been mentioned on other sites that Quesada and Alonso are named for Marvel editors Joe Quesada and Axel Alonso. Since his name is never seen on screen, is this reason enough to move the article? It's neat trivia, if true.--Hardvice (talk) 01:12, 11 March 2007 (EST)

Hi. I think the reference to these Marvel Comics/X-Men editors is more likely deliberate than coincidental. So it makes sense that Alonso would then be the intended spelling of the agent's name too. On the other hand, creative intentions aside, wouldn't the character's official name be what actually makes it into the final script?
Since we fans and viewers don't have the script on hand (unfortunately), the next/secondary source would be those who do have access to the script.
At the moment, I believe we have the official NBC Heroes website using the Alonzo spelling. I'd assume this was "more correct" unless we have another official source that contradicts or otherwise trumps it.
Maybe for now, at the least, an Agent Alonso entry redirecting to Agent Alonzo could be made. And a Note/Trivia bit on the character page mentioning the agent's namesake.

Hmm. Well, now I'm torn. The NBC site is the closest we have to an "official" spelling, but then again, the captions have proven very, very, very unreliable (labeling D.L. as "Mr. Bennet's cleaner" and spelling Niki with ekkkkstra k's and such). If that's really the only "official" source, then I'm tempted to say we may as well spell it however we like.--Hardvice (talk) 05:58, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
I hear you on the NBC site's less-than-infallible record. That's why I think Agent Alonso would at least be an acceptable enough spelling to make a redirect page out of it. Personally, I just find it's less messy if as a rule we stick to what's on record. Otherwise, anything could be disputed as "subjectively correct". But, again, that's just me being used to Wikipedia standards. --Mercury McKinnon 06:25, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
I wasn't aware of the Marvel/X-Men reference before, but when these guys were introduced, I thought it odd that their names were so specific. The reference is the perfect fit. I personally think we should respell his name Alonso ... and maybe move NBC.com from official to unofficial. :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:30, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
The NBC site isn't the only official source. Anywhere that a member of the creative team/other authoritative source goes on record is official in my book. So venues like the Beaming Beeman blog, Behind the Eclipse (on ComicBookResources.com), magazines, talk shows, message boards, podcasts, conventions -- anywhere a source can speak and be quoted are all fair game.
In fact, Behind the Eclipse -- and currently Beaming Beeman as well -- are actively soliciting mail-in questions from fans. So one could actually try to have this spelling question cleared up. On Behind the Eclipse, in particular, they may be more sympathetic to this question since (1) it relates to comics, and (2) I've read the 'Pan Green'/'Pam Green' question posed and answered there. --Mercury McKinnon 13:01, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
Thanks for trying to proactively find answers.... As a matter of clarification, outside sources are not official sources. What's aired on TV is the only official source, and the graphic novels are a pretty close second. (Though, in the last GN, Hana's last name was misspelled "Gittelman" -- I don't suggest, of course, that we go and change her last name or say she has an alias or secondary spelling or anything.) Outside sources are somewhat reliable, and should be considered only if there is no other source. In the case of Alonso/Alonzo, it's tough to say, simply because there is no onscreen spelling. And since it's a reference, that could be taken as the "official source". Like Hardvice, I'm torn. I have my opinion, but it would really be acceptable either way we do it. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:51, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
