Future Merge

If Linderman turns out to be Austin, would we merge them, or keep them separate? Heroe!(talk) 23:42, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

  • If they wind up being the same person, then typically they'd be merged and Austin would redirect to Mr. Linderman. (Admin 00:02, 2 April 2007 (EDT))
That's everything I can think of. By the way, according to Jason Badower, Austin's ID will be obvious in War Buddies, Part 4, but won't be officially revealed until War Buddies, Part 5. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:23, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
  • But we'll have to wait until it is confirmed, even if the likeness is obvious. -Lөvөl 01:14, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
  • We need some Galleries for Austin and Dallas:). -Lөvөl 12:43, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
  • For the Graphic Novel occurrences (once Austin and Dallas's identities are confirmed), should we rename them but credit them as "Austin" and "Dallas" still? I would imagine that we refer to them in the code names for the first few War Buddies until it's revealed who they are.--Bob 08:42, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
  • I certainly don't want to go through and change every time it says "Austin" or "Dallas". Ugh. That's what redirects are for. Besides, I would be mildly opposed to that change even if somebody did want to go back and retroactively change every time it says their code name. Even if Austin does end up being Linderman or somebody, "Austin" would still be correct. Not only that, we know him as Austin in those graphic novels. Before we knew Jessica's name, we referred to her as "Niki's reflection" or "her alter ego" or some other euphemism--we didn't go back and change every instance to be "more correct". I believe leaving previous mentions of "Austin" and "Dallas" is just fine. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:22, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
  • Ditto. We'd merge the articles, but leave the links, and the redirects would handle everything. If subsequent references to "Austin" came up, either linking to "[[Austin]]" or "[[Mr. Linderman|Austin]]" would work (and there's no reason to prefer one over the other). I think we could probably even leave "Austin's father", "Austin's home", and "Austin's mother" as-is until we have a reason to change them ... so long as their only context is in relation to War Buddies, they are accurate descriptions, even if we subsequently find out that Austin is Tawny Kitaen or whoever. Now, if Linderman (or Tawny Kitaen) refers to his/her parents, or his/her childhood home, then that would be a different story. I'd be particularly careful about changing "Austin's home" to "Mr. Linderman's home" (or Tawny Kitaen's home) since that makes it sound like they presently live there.--Hardvice (talk) 14:58, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
  • Good point about changing the names of the articles. However, if Austin does end up being Tawny Kitaen, I will forever wonder why she didn't use her power to heal the ailing Whitesnake. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:21, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
