Could "Evsdropr" be an anagram? --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 22:53, 26 March 2008 (EDT)

  • Could be, but there's no reason to believe so, especially since the letter clues were given out of order and had to be put together, so any anagram of "evsdropr" could have been figured out just as easily as the actual user name. I think it's probably just a quick way of saying "eavesdropper". :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:10, 26 March 2008 (EDT)
    • That's cool that the user name's been confirmed. Should we put the steps used to find the username on this new article? Hana's puzzles used to go on her website so we were using that article to store the solutions. This new person doesn't have a website.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:28, 26 March 2008 (EDT)
      • Yeah, I think that's a good idea. If we keep finding out more about evsdropr but never learn the identity of the user, we'll probably make a page just for him/her. However, I have a feeling we'll learn this person's identity pretty soon, and it'll be somebody we already know. In the meantime, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't put the steps to figure out the name on this page, just in a new section at the bottom or something. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:38, 26 March 2008 (EDT)

Donna

Here are the lyrics to the Ritchie Valens song:

Oh, Donna, Oh, Donna Oh, Donna, Oh, Donna

I had a girl Donna was her name Since she left me I've never been the same 'cause I love my girl Donna, where can you be? Where can you be?

Now that you're gone I'm left all alone All by myself To wander and roam 'cause I love my girl Donna, where can you be? Where can you be?

Well, darlin', now that you're gone I don't know what I'll do All the time and all my love for yo-ou-ou

I had a girl Donna was her name Since she left me I've never been the same 'cause I love my girl Donna, where can you be? Where can you be?

Oh, Donna, Oh, Donna Oh, Donna, Oh, Donna

Peoria County

There's a Hanna City in Peoria. Wikipedia--Bob (talk) 18:07, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

  • And check it out-- there's a Knox County adjacent to northwestern Peoria. :P --NellaBishop 22:59, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
  • Here's a list of all the villages in Peoria County: Bartonville, Bellevue, Brimfield, Dunlap, Glasford, Hanna City, Kingston Mines, Mapleton, Norwood, Peoria Heights, Princeville. Any of those in some form could be a last name (Barton, Dunlap, Kingston, Maple, Prince, etc), but only Hanna jumps out as a potential first name. On another line of thought, is it too obvious to think that the name Donna (from the previous clue) might point at Donna Dorn, who happens to live in Chicago, not so far from Peoria County? No villages named Dornville or anything helpful like that (though Norwood does contain the letters Dorn within it, at least). Am I stretching? --Maelwys 11:30, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
  • He's called Kingston Mines. --DocM 12:18, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
    • Why Kingston Mines? If you go by the previous clues, the name should have 8 letters and include only the letters previously given.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:08, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
      • The clue about being eight letters refers to "evsdropr", not the person's real identity. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:45, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
        • I was joking. Why would someone call their kid "Kingston Mines"? --DocM 16:50, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
  • On ew.com there is an article on the new webcomics (see http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20189783,00.html). The picture they are using introduces a new character named Donna Dunlap. I think this may be our mystery person :) Disney42 09:58, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
    • LOL. Hmm... lets see... first name fits the first clue perfectly... second name fits the second clue perfectly... nope, can't be her. Too obvious. ;-)
    • Still doesn't explain who is the person on the phone... --Looky 10:36, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
      • True, but at least we know who 'Donna' is. Maybe evsdropr will be shown on a later pane of that comic! Here's to hoping... Disney42 11:07, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

Paul E Sylar

The first thing I thought, when I saw the phone-pic of Evsdropr, was our old friend Paul E. Sylar from In His Own Image and One Giant Leap.

Here they are, side-by-side. The shadowy picture also reminds me of some of the old Nosferatu/Sylar inferences. I'm gonna do a little Nosferatu image surfing, and see if they have any that match that same pose....will post if I find anything. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 04/10/2008 14:35 (EST) .

I'm a small village located in Peoria County, Illinois.

So evs sent out two text messages on the same day? One said "I'm a small village located in Peoria County, Illinois." and the other said the same thing but with a missing apostrophe in "I'm"? Odd. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:57, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

The most obvious is Hanna City, even though it has one more "n" than Hana does. --Psiphiorg 03:11, 17 April 2008 (EDT)
After looking at the list on WP, I'd narrow it down to the following that could be names: Edwards, Laura, Hanna City, Dunlap, Cramers, Smithville, and Holmes Center (most of these could be common last names). Something about Komatsu Dressen strikes my attention; Komatsu translates to small pine, so I don't know the relevance of this. My two cents.--Bob (talk) 04:19, 17 April 2008 (EDT)
I'd suggest you check out the most recent graphic novel... ;-) --Maelwys 07:44, 17 April 2008 (EDT)
What about it? It still doesn't reveal who evsdropr is.--Bob (talk) 08:44, 17 April 2008 (EDT)
True, but I believe it does provide the answers to these two clues. First clue was a reference to the song 'Donna'. Second clue was a reference to a village in Illinois. The subject of the GN was 'Donna Dunlap'. So her first name fits the first clue. And since Dunlap is a village in Illinois... her second name fits the second clue. As a result, I don't think that there's any further information to be gained from these two clues. If she's not evs (which it seems she's not, since she talked on the phone with him/her) then it would appear that she was at least the person that the clues were trying to point us towards. Or she'll 'become' evs sometime in the future, who knows. --Maelwys 09:37, 17 April 2008 (EDT)
Right, but I think the continuing mystery really is that evsdropr said "I'm a small village...". If evs is not Dunlap, then who is this message referring to? It's either a more mysterious clue than originally thought, or it's a poorly chosen pronoun. My vote goes for the latter. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:50, 17 April 2008 (EDT)
evs didnt do that when the message was first sent i tried to add a note field and i had just started to contribute so it didnt work. the apostrophe was also me [blushes]. Sorry to cause confusion everyone [blushes again]. Shoyru1177 (talk) 06:41, June 20, 2008
According to the history it was added by Heroes360 Saying "There were two messages". -Lөvөl 11:35, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
Please fix it back to how it was. There were two messages sent. See here at Heroes-Clues, here at HeroesARG, and here at 9thWonders. Plus, I got both messages so I know two were sent. Do you guys get the SMS messages? -- Heroes360 16:39, 20 June 2008 (EDT)

May 28 Message

It looks like the scary puzzle-messages aren't going anywhere any time soon. I think I've solved it, but am unsure if it would be too spoilery to post. :-P --Blacklash 15:33, 28 May 2008 (EDT)

  • We post all puzzle solutions we can, so if you think you have it solved you could discuss it here. If you definitely have it solved then I think it would be ok for the actual Evsdropr's messages page. (Admin 15:36, 28 May 2008 (EDT))
    • Okay. Here's what I got. If you read only the odd-numbered (e.g. 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th...) letters, you get "Sabine hazel sabine hazel sabine hazel" (the name of the agent thrice). If you look at the even-numbered letters (2nd, 4th, 6th...), you get "If anything happens to me check Julien." I don't suppose we know of any characters named Julien as of now? --Blacklash 15:45, 28 May 2008 (EDT)
      • Nice. You know, I'm not sure exactly what to do with that. I know a lot of puzzles get documented somewhere, but I don't keep up with Evolutions too much so I don't know where this would get documented. I'm sure someone else would know, though. (Admin 15:49, 28 May 2008 (EDT))
        • Nice solve. I think it would go on Evsdropr's messages since the puzzle was posted there. We've added similar puzzle solutions to Hana's website for puzzles mentioned there. I'll add it now.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:55, 28 May 2008 (EDT)
          • Who's to say it's not "Julie N."? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:13, 28 May 2008 (EDT)
          • Possible spoiler...After reading the dream submission by Julie, it's TOTALLY about next week's graphic novel. Jason Badower said he was doing some research on Australia. Hooray! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:56, 28 May 2008 (EDT)
            • Eh, thanks for the confirmation. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:03, 28 May 2008 (EDT)
              • Wait, wait...it's actually Julien, not Julie N. I just got an email from Joe Tolerico. I'll upload in a minute... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:09, 28 May 2008 (EDT)
            • The spoilerphobe couldn't resist here, and I can totally see why Badower wanted the next GN, despite his already full life. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 02:43, 29 May 2008 (EDT)

At the bottom of this page currently is text talking about evs sending a message to you if you sent him/her a message on 9thwonders.com about solving the message from Sabine. I sent in the decoded message and never received anything from evs. Did everyone else receive this message? I'm not saying it didn't happen, I was just wondering if this was one instance or am I the only one that didn't receive a message? -- Heroes360 20:13, 12 June 2008 (EDT)

  • I'm not sure if the bot for evsdropr on 9thwonders is still set up for that. The time for that puzzle has passed, I think. I still have the message on 9thwonders if you want me to try and forward it to you there.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:42, 12 June 2008 (EDT)
    • Bot? I'm pretty sure the evsdropr profile is maintained by a crew member, and almost exclusively by one just member... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:59, 12 June 2008 (EDT)
      • Is it? Then the messages are probably sent as he (assuming it's Joe) gets time to do so, and he'll probably not be sending replies for old puzzles. I could be wrong, though.--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:13, 12 June 2008 (EDT)
        • Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a real person as well. As far as the time for the puzzle passing, I sent it the same day the puzzle came out and never received anything. I'm still bugging evsdropr on the 9thWonder boards to send me the same message as well (it seems strange to me that there we be an exclusive case where Evs contacted only one person, though I think it is still worthy of talking about in the wiki). I think the wording should be changed from "Upon sending the solution to evsdropr via private message on the 9thwonders.com website, evsdropr replies:" to "Upon sending the solution to evsdropr via private message on the 9thwonders.com website, evsdropr replied to Volts:" as that was the only case I have heard of evsdropr replying. In your defense MiamiVolts (assuming you're the same person as Volts, lol), you did seem to be the one that tried to contact Evs the most with the Sabine riddle solution. -- Heroes360 16:37, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
          • Yeah, I'm the same person. If you want to attribute it to my 9thwonders.com profile, I'm okay with either. If you want to see exactly what I sent and was replied, private message me on 9thwonders.com and I'll forward it to you.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:53, 20 June 2008 (EDT)

Logic Problem 7/2/08

I have solved the logic problem emailed on July 2, but I can't describe well how I got the answer except to scan my grid that I made. Bottom line, the passenger flight in on runway 3, therefore the flight should be ok. Anyone who would like to pass that along to evsdropr it would be appreciated! Disney42 19:20, 2 July 2008 (EDT)

Full solution: Runway 1 (north) electronics, DC9, flight 639 Runway 2 heavy machinery, A300, flight 128 Runway 3 passengers, 737, flight 555 Runway 4 mail, MD80, flight 227 Runway 5 (south) seafood, A320, flight 91

Disney42 19:28, 2 July 2008 (EDT)

  • Odd. I got Runway 1 as the passenger plane. Shoyru1177 15:33, 3 July 2008 (EDT)
    • I have my grid that I made, but it's in PDF format. If anyone knows how to switch it to an acceptable form for the wiki, I'll post my solution grid on my personal page. Also, if someone can fix the formatting of the solution above it was supposed to be 5 rows not 5 boxes :( Anyhow, either way, Shoyru or mine, it still gives the same answer to evs which is 'have at it'! :)Disney42 19:48, 4 July 2008 (EDT)

Age?

Evs said:

I am one year younger than Ben Franklin was when he retired from printing.

Then the article explained:

Benjamin Franklin retired from printing at 42, so 41 is the answer to the first riddle.

The meaning of the first riddle is unknown.

Am I missing something? Isn't the meaning of the first riddle evs's age?--Referos 15:42, 10 July 2008 (EDT)

  • Not necessarily. The puzzle solution ended up being about evsdropr's username, not evsdropr him/herself.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:47, 10 July 2008 (EDT)

Split

I think this page needs splitting as it is the 4th biggest page.--Skywalkerrbf 10:04, 24 August 2008 (EDT)

  • I would love for this page to be split. But I recommend something like "Evsdropr's messages" and "Evsdropr's posts" or something. -- Lulu (talk) 23:20, 27 August 2008 (EDT)
    • There hasn't been much talk on this subject, so I'll remove the split nomination. However, we should probably move Liza Messer's messages off this page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:54, 15 October 2008 (EDT)
      • Sounds good. The size isn't going to be an issue anymore, due to the evs saga being over. As for the new page, I'd set it up but I've been too busy lately too keep up with the ARG, so I'd feel more comfortable if someone who's following more closely did it. -- Lulu (talk) 16:37, 17 October 2008 (EDT)

Sign up without cell phone?

A while ago my e-mail address changed, so I haven't got the latest updates. I now can't sign up as they require a cell phone number, which I don't have, so does anyone know if there is a way to sign up without one? -Lөvөl 15:47, 27 August 2008 (EDT)

  • I signed with a random cell phone number, like 5555-5555, and it worked.--Referos 15:49, 27 August 2008 (EDT)
    • Huh, I hope the person you sent the cell phone texts to doesn't get too annoyed...555 numbers are normally reserved for Hollywood use, sometimes repeated numbers like that go to cab companies.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:53, 27 August 2008 (EDT)
      • Most 555 numbers were reserved for fictional use, if any of them worked they would normally go to the phone company. I guess I can just use a fake number, I think it is kind of dumb that you have to have one to sign up. -Lөvөl 16:08, 27 August 2008 (EDT)

New message 10/31

So there's a new message tonight:

Dear Heroes Evolutions Fan,

We're pleased to give you advance notice of a new chapter in Heroes Evolutions, to be formally announced next week. While many of the characters will be familiar to you from the show and Evolutions, the game format will be something new and fun. It's time for you to step out of the shadows and take your place in the Heroes Universe!

You can expect to be contacted about twice a week as part of the game. Feel free to update your contact preferences at any time:

http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/evolutions/evolutions_signUp.shtml

It's definitely not a message from Evs, and not a message from Liza or Fallon or anybody else within the show. I don't think it should be included on this page. I will, however, add it to the main page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:52, 31 October 2008 (EDT)

  • Oh, sorry, I just saw this. I'll undo my edit. -- Lulu (talk) 09:05, 2 November 2008 (EST)
    • I'd like to put this and the few new messages (11/19, 12/3, 12/8) somewhere on the iStory page. Does anyone have any objections? I don't have to be the one to do it either if someone else wants to, but obviously keeping them on the Evs Dropper page isn't a good idea. ---Heroes360 15:06, 8 December 2008 (EST)
