Source/Explanation
Edgar's list names the ability "fire breathing". Also, the Bowmans are called "fire breathers" a number of times in Faction Zero.

is it constant?

like, every time they breath out, they breath out fire? I wouldn't imagine it, but if not I wouldn't see why they couldn't live normally. --mc_hammark 14:15, 29 September 2009 (EDT)

Fire exudation

  • This naming conventions gets confusing from time to time. The name Fire breathing sounds more related to Underwater breathing. So far, they have only been described to mostly, "Breath out fire" not "breathing it in". So, if they only breath out fire, the name should be related to Chlorine gas exudation, which is another ability that only breathes out something, but not realy breath it in. Anyone get what I am saying? --NiveKJ13 (talk2me) 15:08, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
    • Yeah, I get what you're saying, it's just out they breath fire (ie the exudate it not inhale it, like underwater breathing does). --mc_hammark 15:10, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
      • I took the courtesy to move the page.--NiveKJ13 (talk2me) 15:17, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
        • My single concern with this: was this ability named by someone in Heroes: Survival? Was it ever explicitly named by NBC or some other credible source? If any of those called this "fire breathing", then that's how it should stay. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 16:00, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
          • While I agree with what you said and the change, multiple people have called Chris, Gail, and Jennie fire breathers. So I guess that is the canon name for it, and it needs to be changed back.--Ratclaws 18:03, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
            • The page should be called "fire breathing" since that's the name we've been given. Even if this were named at Heroes Survival, the iStory has a higher canonicity than H:S. I'll move it back. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:18, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
            • But NivekJ13 isn't that ignoring real life examples, it really is extremely hard to confuse the two. Fire breathing Dragons for example and Underwater Breathing apparatuses. It just seems to me that fire breathing, in order for me to consider "Breathing it in" I have to think about it with some concentration, otherwise I just visualize exhaling fire. Same with underwater breathing. You can exhale underwater, but you can exhale fire, grammatically speaking of course. I'm not sure water breathing (exhaling) makes too much sense either in this case. But every time I hear fire breathing, I'm thinking of the exhalation not the inhalation.--Dman dustin 18:54, 29 September 2009 (EDT)

Fire Respiration or Flame Respiration

  • What about one of these, it sounds a little more formal than fire breathing. daevon 19:02, 29 September 2009 (EDT)

Blue fire?

Taking in consideration the lead image, can we say Jennie can breathe blue fire, similar to how Flint could throw blue fire? Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 20:35, 12 October 2009 (EDT)

Oral pyrokinesis

Nuff said. AltesUTC CH

  • Yeah, you're right. That's probably all that ever needs to be said about that ability name. Ever. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:26, 16 October 2009 (EDT)
    • No, I'm being serious. (Otherwise I would suggest Dragonkinesis lol.) It's basically the same as pyrokinesis: Meredith and others generate fire from their hands, and Bowmans produce it from their mouths. The only difference is the place where fire comes out. It's like Linderman and Ishi, one heals with hand, another with a kiss. AltesUTC CH
      • This does make sense.--Riddler 13:25, 16 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Nothing suggests the Bowman's can generate fire without exhaling it, the same way nothing suggests that Linderman couldn't heal with a kiss or Ishi with her hands. It's illogical. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 13:27, 16 October 2009 (EDT)
          • But Knox needed to absorb fear to become strong. Others don't. AltesUTC CH
            • Precisely the reason I always supported listing Knox as having enhanced strength, because it's enhanced by fear, and everyone else with super strength, cause it's super all the time, they just have to use it. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 13:39, 16 October 2009 (EDT)
              • Well, Knox has an AT, unlike others, but they too are listed with enhanced strength (although they too have some differences). Meredith, if you'd like, couldn't exhale fire, but they all generate it anyway. AltesUTC CH
  • The name of the power has been given as "fire breathing" multiple times in two different iStory volumes, written by two different digital writers. That's the name we should stick with, even if the power is similar to another power. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:27, 16 October 2009 (EDT)

Seen on show

Now that it has been confirmed that that was Chris we saw on the show, and he used fire breathing, shouldn't this be moved from evolutions abilities to the main category? And is there a picture of him using it we can use as the lead image?--Ratclaws 13:50, 16 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Can I ask where it was confirmed? --mc_hammark 13:59, 16 October 2009 (EDT)
    • RGS confirmed it. Daryl Crittenden has been seen on the show playing a fire breather, and a picture of him is used as Chris on the NBC website.--Ratclaws 14:09, 16 October 2009 (EDT)
      • Yes. Daryl Crittenden definitely portrays Chris Bowman. Since Chris is a confirmed evolved human who has the power to breath fire, and Chris breathed fire (in a close up shot!) in Ink, it can be said that this power has been used in an episode. We should update the picture and we should update the categorization. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:29, 16 October 2009 (EDT)

Pyrokinesis

I was just thinking maybe it's just Pyrokinesis. i think Flint and Meredith could also breathe out fire. I mean at season 2, while kissing Peter, Elle was able to emit electricity from his mouth? and sorry for the bad english.. :)

  • This has already been suggested above, but the problem is, there's nothing to support this theory, and Bowmans were explicitly named "fire breathers". AltesUTC CH

With the nose? And eyes?

In the last GN is show jennie breathing blue fire with your NOSE! Ok, it's "ordinary", but later she to see his parents thinking get out of Carnival, appear she "crying" blue fire, i guess... What do you think? Gabrielense 11:04, 3 November 2009 (EST)

  • Great. It's "facial pyrokinesis" now, lol =) AltesUTC CH
    • Well, out the nose makes sense, because in one of the iStory's Gail talks about warming up her lungs to breath fire. The eyes... that makes no sense at all.--Ratclaws 12:31, 3 November 2009 (EST)
      • Lauren in the episode Once Upon a Time in Texas, said that she missed her nephew's barmitzva because of a guy who could breath fire out of his nose. --mc_hammark 12:44, 3 November 2009 (EST)
        • On really make a bite sense... The nose have a connection with our eyes, find on the web by the "eye-nose connection"... But the writers really read about this? And why they put this on a novel? It was really needed? Gabrielense 12:51, 3 November 2009 (EST)
          • It's true, some people can drink milk and then shoot it out of their eyes, it's crazy bizarre. I think there's a video in youtube. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 14:02, 3 November 2009 (EST)

Examples

Is this section necessary? I mean, is gallery not enough? Because other pages don't have lists of who and when uses abilities. AltesUTC CH 08:56, 9 December 2009 (EST)

  • I think the reason we started the examples is because it was in the Istory first, but was not seen until the Slow Burn arc, so there wasn't a gallery. I still think these should be noted because with powers like telekinesis we can get screenshots of these examples, but not for firebreathing. --mc_hammark 11:31, 9 December 2009 (EST)

I think its actually just pyrokinesis

I know the topic has been discussed above, but last night Chris made a fireball. On his hand. Last time I checked I didn't have a mouth on my hand. Unless I'm Deidara (naruto references ftw). So before I start a commotion I thought I'd put this out here. What are everyone else views? --Jason Garrick 13:13, 26 January 2010 (EST)

  • Still kinda nowhere, but I think I saw someone pointing out that when he appeared, he already had the fireball in his hand, so he could have exhaled it in his hand and held it there. I don't know if this is true, I saw the episode only once. Someone also pointed out that it could simply be something he can do, like Jennie's fire through her nose and eyes. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 13:16, 26 January 2010 (EST)
    • What about Fire manipulation?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 13:19, 26 January 2010 (EST)
      • That's simply a two word name for pyrokinesis. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 13:21, 26 January 2010 (EST)
        • So, we merge it?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 13:22, 26 January 2010 (EST)
          • No, we don't know where the flames came from, and saying he could create it in his hand is speculation. Also, being able to control the thing you create is likely with abilities. --mc_hammark 13:27, 26 January 2010 (EST)
            • I just double checked because I have all the eps on itunes. He blows it from his mouth. So I guess it stays. --Jason Garrick 15:17, 26 January 2010 (EST)
              • It could be a sfx mistake, but it looked like he already had a fireball in his hand when he brought it up to his mouth. In any case, isn't pyrokinesis just producing and controlling fire, whether it be from the hand or mouth? - Hive 15:01, 27 January 2010 (EST)
                • I think pyrokinesis literally means "heat movement", but in Heroes it refers to creating fire in your hand, and propelling it from there.--PJDEP - Need further explanation? 15:04, 27 January 2010 (EST)

Coincidence?

I haven't read all the iStories, but is it supposed to be just a coincidence that both Gail and Chris developed the same ability? --Laudo 14:08, 13 February 2010 (EST)

  • As far as I remember we don't know when either manifested, but I remember that Chris mentioned setting one of his ex-girlfriends hair on fire, so I'd imagine that it would be their abilities that brought and kept them together. But I would say it is rare for a whole family to have the same ability. Unless Mrs Parkman had telepathy :) --mc_hammark 17:18, 13 February 2010 (EST)
    • But there is baby Touch and Go. :P --OutbackZack 18:44, 13 February 2010 (EST)
      • I was talking about Maury's Mrs parkman. XD --mc_hammark 18:46, 13 February 2010 (EST)
