Source/Explanation
Hiro Nakamura calls his mother a healer (Our Father). Linda's notebook also explicitly lists Linderman's ability as "healing".

Funny

Linderman's ability is explicitly named "healing" in Linda's notebook (War Buddies, Part 7). I know GNs are near-canon sources, but nobody mentioned this before. AltesUTC CH 04:00, 24 December 2009 (EST)

  • Good eye. I'm sure no one mentioned it because no one remembered or caught on to it seeing how it was a small panel from a GN many moons ago. --OutbackZack 12:44, 24 December 2009 (EST)

Now see, here's the thing

If Jeremy was listed as "healing touch" in his AT, whether it was right or not, would that not imply that Linderman and Ishi's powers would also be listed (by the Company) as "healing touch"? --Ricard Desi (t,c) 10:00, 24 December 2009 (EST)

  • Could work like that, but we should get a new name for Jeremy's ability first. Also, see the section just above this one. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 10:02, 24 December 2009 (EST)
    • No, this is important, if Jeremy's was incorrectly listed as healing touch and this was based on the previous holders, Linderman and Ishi, then that's their ability's name, not healing. Jeremy's ability was incorrectly listed as healing touch, we all agreed it was different and should be split, so his article should be called Jeremy's ability! --mc_hammark 11:28, 24 December 2009 (EST)
      • God I hope not! If there's anything I hate more than abilities with names like Bliss and horror, its abilities just called by whoever holds them! e.g Joseph's ability -- Leckie -- Talk 11:48, 24 December 2009 (EST)
        • No, just until we decide on a name for it. --mc_hammark 11:52, 24 December 2009 (EST)
          • Aaah, I completely misunderstood what you were saying! :) -- Leckie -- Talk 11:55, 24 December 2009 (EST)
      • I completely agree, that's the way I understood this. P.S. the Company is a more reliable naming source than Linda. --Skullman1392 14:21, 24 December 2009 (EST)
        • That's not always considered. We had this same debate when the company gave a different name for Ando's ability than the one from Hiro. However, the one from Hiro was used, because it game from an episode as oppose from a GN.--OutbackZack 15:19, 24 December 2009 (EST)
    • Argg... I love how when we solve one issue, a thousand others take it's place :\. Anyway, the only issue with switching Linderman's ability to healing touch is that there's still a motion to switch Jeremy's ability to that, and we just decided that they have separate abilities. Perplexing....--PJDEP - Need further explanation? 15:52, 24 December 2009 (EST)
      • But Jeremy's ability can't be healing touch. Here's a metaphor, instead of drawing the shape of the car, draw the shape of the space around the car. Coming away from the "what did they call it?" question, look at what they have said it is not. Noah has said it's not healing touch, so that removes it as an option. --mc_hammark 15:58, 24 December 2009 (EST)
        • The argument makes sense. If the Company thought Jeremy's power was the same as Linderman's, and they called it "healing touch", then the Company name for Linderman's and Ishi's power is "healing touch." However, both Healing and Healing Touch have been used, in episodes, as names for the power. Therefore, both names are equally valid, and it's just about which one we prefer. There's no rule that says that we have to use the names given to us by the Company, after all. Of course, if Jeremy's ability is called Healing touch, then we have to use healing for this one (being the only other name of equal rank). If Jeremy's ability is called something else, then we can pick between them. I suggest we leave it as healing until the Jeremy situation is resolved, and then swap it if needs be later on. Swm 09:29, 25 December 2009 (EST)
          • If the company named Liderman's ability as "Healing Touch" then I bet that they named Ishi's ability as "Healing Kiss", let's just leave it as Healing. --Darkfiremaster13 00:32, 26 December 2009 (EST)
            • That's ridiculously speculative to say what The Company would have named her ability. She still used touch, right? Only she touched with her lips, not her hands. It is still viable to say that she would have a healing touch, she simply uses it in a different way than Linderman. --Skullman1392 03:08, 26 December 2009 (EST)
              • Yeah we can say that she also touched with her lips, but the company put a descriptive name on Jeremy's ability on how he used it so I guess they also put one on Ishi if they ever made one. And beside when you kissed someone you can't tell that you just touch them right? Let's keep Healing and say that Linderman manifested it through touch and Ishi manifested through kiss --Darkfiremaster13 00:21, 27 December 2009 (EST)
      • I believe we did not actually decide they are separate, but split them so that, until we could come to a conclusion, "Jeremy's ability" would still be a correct name for it in the meantime. They may not be distinct abilities. It's just a precautionary measure. --Ricard Desi (t,c) 04:12, 26 December 2009 (EST)

Let's Leave It as Healing

The "touch" on Jeremy's assignment tracker was a descriptive name, let me explain my side:

  1. Linderman was basically shown to heal trough touch, but he was shown to heal a flower without touching it. His hand was moving in circles on one side of the flower, if he was rubbing it with his hands like the others was saying the stem will move on the direction were the hand are moving. It was clearly that he can heal even from a certain distance without touching it.
  2. I said this above Ishi was shown healing through kiss, if the company put a descriptive name on Jeremy's ability on his assignment tracker there was a possibility that they also put "kiss" on her ability if they ever show her assignment tracker. And besides when you kiss someone you can't just say that you only touch them, right?

--Darkfiremaster13 00:38, 1 January 2010 (EST)

  • Unless I'm mistaken, Linderman held the flower briefly before moving his hand in circles around it. I think he healed it when he made contact, and waved his hand for dramatic effect as the plant healed. Also, touching doesn't have to be by hand, any sort of body-to-body contact would be considered as a touch, so Ishi's kisses would still count. However, I do think that it should be kept as healing. Assuming that Linderman/Ishi's ability is called healing touch because Jeremy's supposedly original ability was called that is logical, but still a little sketchy. Apparently Linderman's ability was simply called healing in a GN, and although episode content overrides what the GN's say, I feel like we should stay with the more directly named power.--PJDEP - Need further explanation? 01:32, 1 January 2010 (EST)
    • Linderman looked at the plant and waved his hand, he didn't touched it. On the touch, the company put it on Jeremy on how he use his ability so I'm guessing they would also put the kiss on Ishi. But thanks on agreeing that it should be kept as healing. --Darkfiremaster13 03:05, 1 January 2010 (EST)
      • Watch it again, Linderman touched the leaf before healing it, he kinda rubbed it. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 10:44, 1 January 2010 (EST)
        • Sorry my mistake he do touch the leaf of the flower --Darkfiremaster13 02:20, 2 January 2010 (EST)

Name change

I removed the tag because Jeremy's ability doesn't seem to be changing from healing touch anytime soon. So unless we decide to merge the abilities, "healing touch" is out as a name.--PJDEP - Need further explanation? 15:26, 11 January 2010 (EST)

Beyond the grave

I honestly believe that it is impossible that Ishi healed Hiro at the end of Pass/Fail because, well, she's dead. I know Hiro's tumor miraculously disappeared but I think Ishi "revival" was symbolic, not actual. Can we remove this?--PJDEP - Need further explanation? 22:32, 18 January 2010 (EST)

  • We don't know if it's gone. If anything they could have used some of the time Hiro had no pulse, and therefore dead, to extract it. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 07:37, 19 January 2010 (EST)
