Source/Explanation
The Haitian says that Samedi's "skin is impenetrable" (The Eclipse, Part 1).

Robert Keep

Should we be mentioning him as being one with this power? Yes, it was a deleted scene, but hey. Ricard Desi 00:07, 25 November 2008 (EST)

  • A note for the trivia section. --Matchu 00:07, 25 November 2008 (EST)

Does Michael Fitzgerald have this ability?

Sylar stated that he had enhanced strength and enhanced durability. Would this be similar to what Samedi has?--ACDC1989 06:11, 25 November 2008 (EST)

  • We have no instances of him withstanding anything a normal human could not, so no. (not for now at least.) Psilaq Remake 15:32, 26 November 2008 (EST)

Should this really be here right now?

We don't even have an image for this power, the only mention is by The Haitian. I thought that if we don't see a character use his/her ability, it should be listed as "unconfirmed"? The same thing as people like Albert Rossling, Paul Harding etc. We know their abilities but we haven't seen them use it so we don't have a separate page for the ability. Radicell 08:54, 26 November 2008 (EST)

  • You're mostly right, but for this one we have more than just a name. We have info. It's likely to be revealed in a near future episode. Just hang tight. Psilaq Remake 15:34, 26 November 2008 (EST)

Unconfirmed

  • How come this ability is already an article even though we havem't even actually seen it being used. This is just like Deoxygenation in the episode The Hard Part, it was mentioned, yet we didn't even make an article for it. --NiveKJ13 12:30, 28 November 2008 (EST)
    • I believe this is different to deoxygenation - we had not (to my knowledge) met the holder of that power, whereas we have met the holder of this power. Plus, it's highly likely we will see it soon.--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  12:33, 28 November 2008 (EST)

Questions!

Will this power be stopped by the eclipse and if so then why not just let out lots of bullets when he came near, or does angela want her collection back? What happens if a bullet or knife hit his skin? will the bullet ping off or will it stop or will it just break on contact with his skin? would a knife just bend or shatter?--345tom 17:17, 29 November 2008 (EST)

  • No one knows yet, we've not seen it used. Psilaq Remake 17:38, 29 November 2008 (EST)
    • As Psilaq said we haven't yet seen it on the show, but I'd say it's safe to assume it is similar to Superman's invulnerability. In the movie Superman Returns they try to inject Superman with a neele, but the needle bends against his skin. It create an indenture, but it cannot penetrate it. Likewise, when he is shot in the eye, the bullet is squashed on impact and it falls harmlessly to the ground. I imagine Samedi's power to be something like this. -- FlamingTomDude 2:57, 30 November 2008 (EST)
      • Not exactly like this, I agree with the needle example, but not the eye, his ability is impenetrable skin, unless his eye is closed, his eye would definitely be unprotected. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 11:18, 30 November 2008 (EST)

Ability Name Change?

Impenetrable skin does not seem to be a completely accurate description of this ability. It would not prevent breaking of bone or damage to muscles. Baron Semedi seemed to be completely uninjured after being slammed into the jeep by Nathan.

  • The Haitian clearly stated that, "His skin is impenetrable...". And in additional, in the deleted scene where Sylar killed Robert Keep, he said, "It really is impenetrable, isn't it?" and "Forgive me, I haven't been clear, I want your skin..." --NiveKJ13 12:17, 2 December 2008 (EST)
    • and please put your sign by clicking the Signature button in the tabs.--NiveKJ13 12:18, 2 December 2008 (EST)
  • We have a canon source. Also, his skin is most likely impenetrable by anything INCLUDING strong concussive force. If the force can't penetrate the skin, then said force can't do anything to anything below the skin. (Does this make sense to anyone but me?) Psilaq Remake 17:09, 2 December 2008 (EST)
    • You know, I don't mind the current name, but Invulnerability is just as canon, and it does have a nicer ring to it. Just saying.--Piemanmoo 17:43, 2 December 2008 (EST)
      • Yeah. I agree. Impenetrable skin doesn't really explain how he got up like nothing happened after he got sent flying at a car at high velocities. Someone without Samedi's ability would be bloodied up pretty bad. And probably dead. So yeah, maybe Invulnerability is better.
  • How exactly is "Invulnerability" canon?, I already said in my past comment the statements that mentioned that its "Impenetrable skin", which makes it obviously much more canon than "invulnerability".--NiveKJ13 11:53, 3 December 2008 (EST)
  • Invulnerablility is canon because Peter said to the Haitian about the eclipse "Samedi's ablility is gone too. He's not invulnerable anymore" plus anything Sylar said in the Robert Keep scene isn't canon or we need to list Kaito on Accelerated Probability.--DToccs 6:57, 4 December 2008 (EST)
    • He wasn't naming the ability, he was using a common adjective. You could say that during the eclipse, Claire wasn't invulnerable either, but that wouldn't mean her ability is invulnerability. --Ricard Desi 16:55, 3 December 2008 (EST)
  • Well, the Haitian also stated that "His skin is impenetrable..." which makes it much more canon than what Peter said coz he actually explained the whole ability. The case is closed anyways coz "Impenetrable skin" is whats written in his AT diagram.--NiveKJ13 17:31, 3 December 2008 (EST)
    • anyways, the AT diagram of the ability's out already, it is "Impenetrable skin". --NiveKJ13 11:53, 3 December 2008 (EST)

Sylar/Robert Keep

Sylar took Keep's ability by telekinetically removing his brain through his mouth and nose. (Given the numerous problems with this scene, it's best it was never aired.) ebrown2112 10:05, 10 December 2008 (EST)

  • That happened in a deleted scene, and thus isn't canon. If he had the power, he wouldn't have been hurt by the rental car employee. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 13:16, 10 December 2008 (EST)

Powers Description Fallacy

Wouldn't a power described simply as "Impenetrable Skin" imply that the internal organs would still be severely damaged due to objects impacting the body at high velocity (or in the case of Nathan Petrelli flying Baron Samedi into the car, the body impacting a large object at high velocity)? I think a better description of Samedi's power would be "Impenetrable Body". --Psych31mwo 13:44, 28 February 2009

  • The Haitian said that Samedi's skin was impenetrable in the eclipse part 1/2 (?). As the haitian was with the company he would know the proper names. --IronyUTC CH 14:12, 28 February 2009 (EST)
    • Just a note but see the discussion above, the AT diagram explicitly said and other points --IronyUTC CH 14:13, 28 February 2009 (EST) (Sorry I didn't realise it was there)
    • You know, I kind of thought the same thing, that even if his skin were impenetrable, that doesn't mean his internal organs are. But then it kind of clicked for me when I thought of his skin as more of a suit of armor or a helmet for the entire body. It's not just that the skin can't be penetrated, it's that it also protects the rest of his body. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:28, 28 February 2009 (EST)
      • If the force can't go through the skin, it can't go inside to damage. Hence, impenetrable skin works. Even if it didn't, it was on his AT. -- Psilaq R.- \m/ -_- \m/- 14:39, 28 February 2009 (EST)
        • Sorry, RGS, I didn't read your previous comment. -- Psilaq R.- \m/ -_- \m/- 14:40, 28 February 2009 (EST)
            • Actually, yes, force can be transmitted to the inside to cause damage to internal organs *if they are susceptible to damage*. Case in point, boxers receiving brain damage due to repeated head injury. For example, if you had a steel sphere encasing a fragile object (let's say, an egg) if you drop that steel sphere from even a few feet, the egg inside will break but the steel sphere will remain intact. That interior egg is your everday vital (and fragile) organ... I still stand by my earlier statements. ~~Psych31mwo
              • That's how it works in real life. With impenetrable skin, the user's skin blocks out the force that would get to the organs otherwise. Bottom line, the name is fine, we should leave it as it is. -- Psilaq R.- \m/ -_- \m/- 15:11, 28 February 2009 (EST)
