Matthew vs. Matt Parkman, Jr.

There's no evidence that the Matthew of the future is the same as Matt Parkman, Jr. There's a reason Matthew doesn't have a last name, and that's because we don't know it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:16, 1 March 2009 (EST)

  • If someone wants the non-spoiler article for "Matt Parkman, Jr.", they're obviously looking for Matthew. - Josh (talk/contribs) 21:49, 1 March 2009 (EST)
    • We don't have a non-spoiler article about Matt Parkman, Jr. and we never have. Nor should we assume that Matthew's last name is Parkman or that he is a "Jr." -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:01, 1 March 2009 (EST)
      • It's not an assumption. It's a name a fan might use to refer to him. - Josh (talk/contribs) 22:05, 1 March 2009 (EST)
        • That might mean that we could make that a redirect, but not the article title. While it's probably right to assume that this baby is named after his father, there is no evidence in the show yet that he IS Matt Parkman's son. Even if he was, there's no evidence to say that he IS "Jr.". Jr., isn't always at the end of a similar name. For example, my name is Robert Ryan Smith (last name changed just in case there's a rule for it.) My father is Robert William Smith Jr. His father is Robert William Smith Sr. I am not a third (III) because my middle name is different. - This article should be titled Matt Parkman (II) or (baby) or something else.--Riddler 22:58, 11 March 2009 (EDT)
          • Opinions?--Riddler 21:08, 12 March 2009 (EDT)
  • Baby Matt IS Matthew from explosion future. The proof is that Janice was pregnant. It doesn't matter who the father is. Janice's baby is born. And you understand that nothing suggests that Janice was pregnant twice, thus giving birth to another baby.--Altes 05:56, 22 March 2009 (EDT)
  • Well, BTE finally confirmed that Matthew and Matt Jr. are the same kid. Should now Matthew's page be renamed to something like Matt Parkman, Jr. (explosion future)? --Altes 03:38, 31 March 2009 (EDT)

Not a Parkman?

You know, if you think that baby Matt and Matthew from explosion future aren't the same person, I have another question for you. How do we know Matt, Jr. is son of Matt and Janice? Maybe he was born to another Parkmans. Maybe to Matt, Sr.'s cousins. How do we know?--Altes 11:29, 22 March 2009 (EDT)

    • I agree, it is speculatory to say he is in fact any relation of Janice or Matt, unless it is stated somewhere, but since the next episode will be shown tomorrow, there isn't much point in changing it unless the episode states something else, as it has been like this for the past two weeks. I just kept forgetting to say something lol. --posted by Laughingdevilboy

      • Hmm, new spoilers say that baby Matt is really son of Matt and Janice, and he has a power.--Altes 12:14, 23 March 2009 (EDT)

Timeline discrepancies

Can I get someone to calculate this? Janice revealed her pregnancy in October, 2006, according to the timeline. Quin and Reed Baron are 18 months old, so, presuming Matt, Jr. is the same age, and the timeline is in early April, 2007, he would have had to be born in October, 2005! Taken that the actors ages may tbe different from the characters, the pregnancy was revealed about seven months ago. Assuming the baby was....six months old?, Janice would have had to be nine months pregnant when she first revealed she was pregnant! This doesn't make much sense to me, can someone please explain? -- Tristan0709 talk 03:57, 25 March 2009 (EDT)

  • Well let's face it, the continuity errors are just becoming more frequent. That or Matt Sr. has the new and amazing ability of super sperm. Note to self, make that page later.--Steely McBeam - (talk) 04:04, 25 March 2009 (EDT)

You say the Timeline is in early April, 2007, but how do you know this? Evidently, since Janice revealed her pregnancy in October 2006, the events of Cold Snap must take place at least 9 months after that; ie. July 2007. --Radicell 05:09, 25 March 2009 (EDT)

  • I was under the impression the title screen in 314 said Two Weeks Later: it's probably actually Two Months Later. Regardless, the present timeline would be late May, or, at most, early June. -- Tristan0709 talk 05:29, 25 March 2009 (EDT)
    • Could you specify when during the episode was this screentext seen? I must have missed it. If it really did display a message like that, we could finally sort out Timeline:Post-March 2007. --Radicell 06:34, 25 March 2009 (EDT)
      • I believe that the the "2 (or3) weeks later" note goes to the tidbit we saw at the Dual (end of volume 3) where Nathan is talking to the President....but A Clear and Present Danger happens nearly 2-3 months after the events of Dual, Tracy says something to the Govenor over the phone about the dates right before she is captured.--Anthony Gooch 07:17, 25 March 2009 (EDT)
        • Anthony's right. During the Tracy scene in 314, she says she hasn't spoken to Nathan in two months. I believed there was text, but apparently not. Her quote is "close to two months". -- Tristan0709 talk 01:29, 26 March 2009 (EDT)
        • It says at the end of Dual three weeks later, so 5 weeks later would be about the time Tracy was captured, taking into account I don't think she spoke to him in the 3 weeks leading up to him telling the president. --posted by Laughingdevilboy

Activating AND Deactivating?

I have the episode recorded via DVR, but after watching it again, I never saw a moment where the baby turned something OFF. Only turned it on. If this is true, shouldn't his ability just be called 'Activation'?

And if he CAN deactivate things, then he can just deactivate everyone's ability, rendering the show plotless. LimaBean 20:30, 25 March 2009 (EDT)

  • Except that first of all, he's an infant. He can't even begin to understand the totality of the world he's in or analyze the consequences. He's a blank slate. Secondly, he would probably only deactivate the abilities of villians. However, he is clearly in no position to do anything like that. --Barbedknives 19:33, 25 March 2009
    • Baby Matt turned off the television. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:07, 25 March 2009 (EDT)
      • I agree and completely understand that he can most likely deactivate powers. In fact I'm the one who submitted the theory. I'm just saying that I don't think Baby Matt will be come this all powerful threat and start negating powers. Although it would be quite hilarious to see Matt go on a crawling spree and totally pwn Sylar. I'd imagine it would be quite humiliating for him. --Barbedknives 20:11, 25 March 2009
        • He deactivated the TV on the scene after Hiro and Ando discovered he has powers. If you watch closely on the last part of the scene, he touched the TV again and it turned off.--NiveKJ13 (talk2me) 22:15, 27 March 2009 (EDT)

(Re)Animation

i think this ability should be called animation, he is simply not activating it , he is animating it ( such as the toy plane)

Name

I swear, the writers do stuff like this solely for the purpose of annoying us. -- Tristan0709 talk 02:22, 3 April 2009 (EDT)

Agreed : ) Lol Gabriel Bishop 12:34, 6 April 2009 (EDT)

on a side note, baby Matt is adorable (I've always wanted to say that, lol) :P - Rocky

The youngest one, Matt Jr. or Baby-Claire?

I think that the youngest evolved human ever seen is really Baby-Claire. In several episodes (Company Man, Our Father and GN Hell's Angel) she is seen evidently younger that Matt Jr. by the time she had already survived the fire at Meredith's apartment. Although she is not seen regenerating, isn't the knowledge of his ability worked once before enough to label her as evolved human by the time she was given to Noah at Deveaux's rooftop? Plus, even the Company believed she had a power or would develop one over time, and that's why she was given to Noah. TheCharlesOne 03:00, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

  • She has always been suspected of possibly having an ability--being the child of two known evolved humans puts you on that imaginary list. But until the person manifests a power, they are not considered to be an evolved human. Penny is a great example of a person who is the child of two evolved humans, but is human herself. The genetic code for developing an ability is not a certainty. It's an indicator. Elle's First Assignment demonstrates this really well--Claire was to be watched, but her power was not known, and it wasn't even a sure thing that she would even exhibit a power. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 03:27, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

Sylar ain't the only killer in the Parkman household!

Hey, if Hiro dies from his tumour, baby matt has commited manslaughter, did anyone else think about this? --mc_hammark 08:58, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I don't, if baby matt DIDN'T "activate" Hiro, then he could be dead already, because he would have either been killed or taken in by Danko's Team. --Isaac Mendez 09:33, 6 November 2009 (EST)
    • Plus, I don't think Matt Jr. has much control of his ability. So when he touched Hiro, it was an accident and not be considered manslaughter.--Catalyst · Talk · HL 09:35, 6 November 2009 (EST)
      • Guys, please... when are you gonna read the interview with Masi Oka and accept it isn't baby Matt's fault Hiro's power broke? AltesUTC CH
        • We're just joking. We know it's not broken because of Baby Matt, just that it was Baby Matt which caused the ability to return to be broken. --mc_hammark 14:46, 6 November 2009 (EST)

Really his son?

Do we know for certain that Matt Jr. is actually Sr.'s son? Was there a statement from the writers or something?--PJDEP 15:56, 7 December 2009 (EST)

  • Matt Jr. having powers sort of sealed it pretty well. We can assume pretty well that Matt is the father. --Ricard Desi (t,c) 22:31, 7 December 2009 (EST)

Re-activating Powers

Arthur told Peter that his powers were gone for good, but Baby Matt reactivated Hiro's stolen powers. Is this a continuity error or was Arthur wrong about his own ability?--Boycool42 20:11, 9 March 2010 (EST)

  • I think Arthur was either wrong or lying.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 20:24, 9 March 2010 (EST)
    • That would tie in with the super-empathic mimicry thing the writers said.--Boycool42 20:31, 9 March 2010 (EST)
      • There's also the fact that he wasn't taking into account other powers, simply stating to Peter that his empathic mimicry was gone, and he wasn't naturally going to get it back. --mc_hammark 11:26, 10 March 2010 (EST)
