Should we have a page for Molly's parents? They are certainly extremely minor characters, but there is a lot of theory that surrounds them and the reason they were killed. Necessary or not? Ryangibsonstewart 02:06, 27 November 2006 (EST)

  • I think we should at least have a page for Molly's father since he was the one that was frozen and had his head opened... so clearly Sylar believed he had powers of some kind. At some point his name is going to come up...
    • Sure enough, it did. When Mohinder talks on the phone he mentions James Walker in LA who was killed 9 days ago. (Admin 23:07, 4 December 2006 (EST))
      • Anyone have any theories on why we haven't seen her in a while? --Riddler 16:03, 26 January 2007 (EST)
        • In one of the interviews they said that they just need to decide how to work her into the plot, but that she will be back because afterall she was very important to Sylar at one point. Don't remember which interview it was, but if someone's got a link then great. I thought it was one of the ones at at wizarduniverse.com. (Admin 16:23, 26 January 2007 (EST))

Age

Molly is 11 when she appears. Five years later she will be 16, so in episodes after .07%, she will be played by a different actress. Could she be Sparrow? --AverageMan 19:21, 25 April 2007 (EDT)

  • Do what now? Only Five Years Gone is set five years in the future, and Adair Tishler is credited for the episodes after that. If you're asking if Molly Walker could be the "Sparrow" in Graphic Novel:String Theory (and possibly in Five Years Gone), then yes, it's possible, but that Sparrow is more likely Sparrow Redhouse from the list, about whom the writers have teased from time to time.--Hardvice (talk) 19:28, 25 April 2007 (EDT)
  • Assuming Sparrow from String Theory is Sparrow Redhouse, then I'd say no, they aren't the same. Sparrow was mentioned on the list, which was created when Molly is known as Molly. If Molly ever changed her name, it wouldn't have been until sometime after the list was created (and destroyed). — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:39, 25 April 2007 (EDT)
  • Plus, everyone knows that Molly is just Claire from a different timeline. Same thing with Peter being Sylar.--Piemanmoo 20:06, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

Hard Part Spoiler

I would argue that it's hardly a spoiler when NBC publicizes it in the previews for the next episode, but c'est la vie. --Ted C 22:20, 30 April 2007 (EDT)

  • Many people do not watch them. They're spoilers for the next episode and information doesn't hit the main articles until the episode itself has aired. (Admin 22:24, 30 April 2007 (EDT))
  • Well, to be fair, the preview never said that she had a power, only that she was the only one who could stop Sylar. This could mean anything: they could be using her for bait, she may have some unknown connection to him, or perhaps she's the motivation to stop Sylar. The idea of a power, however, seems the most likely scenario. --Paronine 22:35, 30 April 2007 (EDT)
  • Of course, the exact same note is perfectly acceptable if it merely notes that Future Hiro mentions her as one of the evolved humans he helped Bennet rescue in Five Years Gone.--Hardvice (talk) 22:36, 30 April 2007 (EDT)
  • I think they pretty much said it, and if you don't realize by now that Molly has a power then, just wow. But Paronine, I don't think there going to use an eleven year old girl as bait, and lots of people have a motivation to him. Jason Garrick 19:25, 1 May 2007 (EDT)
    • I feel like I should get this made into a rubber stamp, but just because something is obvious doesn't mean it's confirmed. And we don't include unconfirmed info in articles. That said, Future Hiro does confirm that Molly Walker is one of the evolved humans he rescued.--Hardvice (talk) 19:55, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

Power Name

So... Clairvoyance? Location? Enhanced Location? Human GPS? Let the games begin... — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:05, 7 May 2007 (EDT)

  • I was thinking something along the lines of omniscience. Locational omniscience? Something like that.--Ice Vision 23:16, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
    • I vote for human GPS. It's not clairvoyance, she simply knows where people are (not what they are doing); and location isn't an ability, it's a place.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:24, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
      • Oh. I was kidding about the human GPS. And the others I listed because those were the ones that are listed elsewhere on the site. I don't think any of them are very good. (Although, location is the noun form of locate, so technically it does describe her power.) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:38, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
        • Human GPS would be a cool power, but only if it could tell you were the nearest decent Chinese restaurant is (which Molly, sadly, appears not to be able to do).--Hardvice (talk) 23:59, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
          • She could probably tell you where that Chinese restaurant is, provided you showed her a picture of it.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:08, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
            • Use what Bennett called it - the Walker Tracking System.--Anchovyman 00:40, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
              • Yeah, but Bennet thinks she's some kind of machine.--Hardvice (talk) 00:42, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
  • There's "psycholocation". Within the ESP crowd, that's used to describe the psychic ability to find lost objects. I've never heard it applied to people, but I can't think of a reason it couldn't be.
    • I'm not sure if you would call that ability "psychic" though. We don't really know the exact details on how Molly's ability works. Locational means based on location; the act of locating; state of being located. Omniscience means having complete or unlimited knowledge, awareness, or understanding; perceiving all things. So, locational omniscience would mean something like "Knowing all about location".--Ice Vision 23:35, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
      • The ability is psychic to the extent that she finds the people with her mind. "Omniscience" is just such a loaded term, though--even modified by "locational". I'd rather see something like "locational awareness" that doesn't, y'know, come quite as close to implying godhood.--Hardvice (talk) 23:49, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
        • I understand. Maybe you take intuitive aptitude and tweak it so it fits Molly's power?--Ice Vision 23:57, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
          • Yeah, psychic implies that she knows a future location and omniscience is too godly (don't like either).--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:08, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
  • How about "Human Cerebro" after Professor X's machine in X-men? Disney42 23:37, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
    • Okay, I'm just glad nobody has said anything like "locokinesis" yet. Phew. "Locational awareness" is sounding best to me so far. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:46, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
      • I like locational awareness. I third the notion to go with that name.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:53, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
        • My vote goes with Clairvoyance --Piemanmoo 01:10, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
          • I'm not big on outright vetoing a power name, but I'm going to have to say I am strongly opposed to "clairvoyance". It literally means "clear seeing" and suggests knowledge beyond just knowing the location. It suggests awareness and a near omniscience about a subject. Molly does not know anything about the people other than where they are. Clairvoyance is not the word to describe her power. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:16, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
            • I agree that "clairvoyance" is too loaded and too broad a description of what she does. She's not even really a "remote viewer" in the traditional sense because we don't even actually know that she sees the location of the person in question ... the name of the place might just come to her (more like long-range, limited telepathy than clairvoyance).--Hardvice (talk) 01:21, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
            • What about "telepathic location" ? --Xmuskrat 01:45, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
              • We don't really know if it's telepathic, either.--Hardvice (talk) 01:59, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
              • My Vote is for "Personal Remote Viewing"--Patrick 06:15, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
                • I think being somewhat consistent with our present names is important. What has been described is the ability of: enhanced location or intuative tracking. Better yet, since human beings don't have an inate power of 'location' (like we do have strength and hearing and speed, why not drop the enhanced qualifier altogether, and say Molly Walker has the power of Location? Either than or intuative tracking seem the most concise that I've seen so far. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 05/8/2007 08:04 (EST)
                  • We don't have any consistency to our present names, other than that we try to use names given in canon sources (which is why we're stuck with induced radioactivity etc.). I don't quite understand "enhanced location" since I don't have any kind of "location" to begin with (unlike speed, hearing, or strength). "Intuitive tracking" sounds nice, but are we sure she's using intuition? "Location" is okay, I guess...— RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:09, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
  • We don't have confirmation of what she can trace. It can be only Evolved humans, only normal humans, or she can trace anything she wants. The name of her power will consist of what she can trace. --Densus 08:17, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
  • Ok, things are getting really messy here. :) Anyway, Molly herself says that "They ask me where people are, and I find them. I just think about them, and then I know where they are." I think that for now, it is safe to assume that her ability is limited to locating people, evolved or otherwise. With that in mind, I feel that the best name would be Psycholocation (i.e. she uses her mind to locate people). I don't feel that this power needs an 'Intuitive' or 'Enhanced' prefix. Also, what she does is 'Location' not 'Tracking', though she is part of a tracking system. Simply using the word 'Location' is a bit too ambiguous.--Havoc 09:57, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
    • Psycholocation sounds good to me. --Densus 09:05, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
      • It occurs to me that her power is actually a form of "divination" or "dowsing". I'm currently working my through the JREF Encyclopedia for a more precise term. --Ted C 09:58, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
        • This is probably a lame suggestion, but how about "Mental (human) tracking"? It kinda describes what she does: Tracks people with her mind. Or maybe just "people finding"Heroe!(talk) (contribs) Random Page! 11:16, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
  • I think her ability is "remote viewing" or "clairvoyance". These two titles have definitely been used more in literature, video games, television, etc.

Power Name Redux

In an effort to clean up the discussion, I've extracted the name nominees from the thread:

  • Clairvoyance (1)
  • Location
  • Enhanced Location
  • Human GPS
  • Human Lojack
  • Omniscience
  • Locational omniscience
  • Psycholocation (2)
  • Locational awareness (3)
  • Human Cerebro
  • Remote viewing
  • Telepathic location
  • Intuitive tracking
  • Divination
  • Dowsing
  • Mental tracking (2)
  • People finding
  • Telelocation (3)
  • Remote detection

I'd also recommend that we not develop an actual Power page for what she does until we know more about it. We're likely to learn more in the next episode. --Ted C 10:11, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

  • It will be pretty lame to name her power "Human Cerebro"... Anyway, I would choose "Telepathic location" or "Psycholocation". --Densus 10:26, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
  • I'm personally leaning toward "Divination", but then, I suggested it. --Ted C 10:27, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
    • I'm not a big fan of "divination" simply because we don't know how she comes about finding the locations. I agree with you though, Ted, that we shouldn't really start an article. We don't have an image (which is a minor inconvenience), and we haven't even seen her use her power (which is a major obstacle). Somebody started an article called psycholocation which seems a bit ... loaded to me. I'm not sure how we can have an article on a power that doesn't really exist yet. There are no examples, and we're just guessing at the limits. Anything that can be said in an article can be said in one line on the powers page. I'm all for deleting the page until we learn more.
    • Divination implies the power is supplied from a divine source. Simply Psycholocation describes it accurately, and simplistically with one word. I created a power page earlier this morning for it. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 05/8/2007 11:11 (EST)
      • OK, I can accept that objection. --
      • Come on guys, don't get all "delet-ie" on this. Thompson told Mohinder that she has the power to find Sylar, and that the virus is now preventing her from using the power. We know she has used it, otherwise, Thompson, nor her would know she has the power, or know anything about its characteristics. let the page grow as we learn more in the future. We shouldn't be going backwards, but forwards here. Molly's been waiting a long time to be listed with her power, and it was confirmed and explained last night. We don't know the full extent of alot of the powers we have cataloged, but we show and document for each of them what we have been revealed; and Molly's power shouldn't be postponed or side-lined. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 05/8/2007 11:17 (EST)
        • I'm not suggesting deleting it, although I was against actually creating it before we knew much about it. I'm still not fond of "psycholocation" though; it sounds like the ability to find crazy people. --Ted C 11:49, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
        • "Delet-ie"--I like that. :) I'm not suggesting we have the full extent of the power known before we make the page. I am suggesting we know more than one or two sentences about it first--at least something more than can be listed on the powers glossary. I don't think it's wrong to wait until she actually uses the power. And I'm definitely suggesting (urging? pleading?) that we get a new name for it than "psycholocation". — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:52, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
  • Strangely, I'm starting to like "clairvoyance", especially after looking up the definition: "the power or faculty of discerning objects not present to the senses". --Ted C 11:49, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
    • So I found a few powers that could be altered/disected/combined or tossed for a salad to come up with a power.

Cross-dimensional awareness Ability to detect actions and events in other dimensions. This is occasionally used in comics as an awareness of the fourth wall between the characters and the artist or audience. (wikipedia list of comicbook superpowers)

Innate capability Ability to naturally have skills and/or knowledge typically earned through learning. (taken form same location)

Now I think "Innate locational awareness" (using these two precedents) would be my best guess. or maybe something like "innate geocentric lacational awareness" --maybe that is too long, and denies the people only theory so "innate geocentric personal location awareness" --- but then that applies the possessor knows where oneself is anywhere in the world (like a homing pigeon) Well hope this helps you guys Guy 12:25, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

so i found echolocation which makes me lean to "geocentric psycholocation"

Echolocation Main article: Echolocation Ability to determine location of items in the environment by use of reflected sound waves, whether generated by the character or ambient sound, (Also known as Sonar Sense).

"Geocentric Psycholocation Ability to determine location of items in the WORLD by use of mental capacity, thought, or knowledge." (Hypothetical Definition)

We may yet get some kind of official name for this power in the next episode, of course. It might be prudent to just wait a week and see. --Ted C 12:30, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

Power sensing Ability to sense or recognize superhuman powers.

This is like Caliban and Callisto in the Xmen universe --- only they can only track other superhumans.

  • What about "Detection"? FlyingMan 14:01, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
    • To me at least, "detection" implies passivity -- like automatically detecting people as they approach --- while "location" implies activity -- like actively looking for someone.--Hardvice (talk) 14:04, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
  • We don't need to rush to name the power. Molly's article says all we know about it already, that she has the ability to "find people". With so little information so far an article for the power itself would be mostly empty anyway at this point. We should wait until we know more about it before we worry too much about the naming. We're not racing to give it a name, we want to make sure we know what we're talking about before we claim what her power should be called. (Admin 14:17, 8 May 2007 (EDT))
    • This makes the most sense so far. We're falling all over ourselves trying to label the ability. I personally think that after it becomes clarified, whatever it ends being, the name should be unambiguous enough that it can't be confused with, I dunno.. the little boy who can think about any discarded paper napkin in the world and know where it is. --Glue 16:41, May 8, 2007 (EST)
      • Not that it matters now, but James Kyson Lee (who plays Ando), refers to Molly's ability as like human GPS and one of the stunt coordinators says it's like human lojack in the commentary.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:42, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

I think an exercise in patience is the best method. There's no indication of her ability aside from what she said, which is "they tell me to find someone, and I can find them". If this is our only information, then I think something simple like psycholocation is fine. Personally, I don't see the need for complex phrases to describe something. Common terms like "telepathy" are fine for Heroes, even if in the "real" world, it describes the ability to hear thoughts and project them as well. The article explains the ability and its limits, not the name. Bennet calls it a tracking system, she says she can find where people are by thinking about them. Put the pieces together with word anatomy, and that's fine by me.--Bob 21:34, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

I agree it's very early here; speculating is fun. I suggest calling Molly's power findability, both as a respectful nod to the original term, and the fact it's a fun play on words: "find + ability". Sounds like she may be a human Google of sorts. :) --Torley 02:40, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

  • +1 for psycholocation. -- FrenchFlo (talk)    &nb sp;   03:30, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
    • Someone on a forum suggested "telelocation" Heroe!(talk) (contribs) Random Page! 20:27, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
    • Telelocation means she has to use a computer or a television, something with a screen. No ? -- FrenchFlo (talk)        10:16, 10 May 2007 (EDT)
      • No, tele- means distant. I like telelocation too; it just sounds cool.--MiamiVolts (talk) 10:29, 10 May 2007 (EDT)
        • Yeah, I like telelocation. I don't think we should start the page until after Landslide airs, but it seems like telelocation is a pretty good contender. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:37, 10 May 2007 (EDT)
          • Atleast it doesn't sound like "the power to detect crazy people." --Ted C 13:04, 10 May 2007 (EDT)
            • Tele-tubbies are crazy. Ha. ::Back to studying:: --Bob 13:06, 10 May 2007 (EDT)
              • On the page for Niki, it says, "Potential Power: Enhanced Strength.", maybe we could do "Potential power: Psycholocation"?
                • The potential power for Niki is because the power is called "enhanced strength", however given Niki/Jessica's split nature it's unclear whether it should be attributed only to Jessica or whether Niki has access to it. With Molly on the other hand we KNOW she has the power, we just haven't decided on a good name for it. That being said, I'm not a fan of psycholocation in the first place. I think it sounds funny and gives the impression that you're locating crazy people. Hopefully we'll learn more in the episode tonight and be able to name her power accordingly. (Admin 19:20, 14 May 2007 (EDT))
                  • I added it as telelocation to portal:Powers because we need to come up with something. It's got a lot of "votes" (or whatever), and it seems like a pretty non-controversial name that's also an okay description. It can be changed if that's what we decide. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:57, 15 May 2007 (EDT)
                    • After last night, it seems that the best would be clairvoyance, becasue apparently she can see what people are doing as well. Heroe!(talk) (contribs) 09:38, 15 May 2007 (EDT)
                      • I'm comfortable with that. --Ted C 09:39, 15 May 2007 (EDT)

Should I go ahead and create the page as Clairvoyance? --Ted C 10:46, 15 May 2007 (EDT)

Protection from the Bogeyman

What's with the drawing of a yellow star that Molly gave Mohinder? The one where she says, "It'll project you... from the bogeyman." So is it a new aspect of her power? Or just the fantasy of a little girl? Being able to nullify powers by proxy would be an incredible useful power.--Havoc 09:57, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

  • More than likely the fact that she's a little girl who survived a serious trauma.--Bob 21:27, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
    • That's what I think too. But, there is a significance in the star. The star resembles a sheriff star, which you can connect to a police officer. Matt Parkman protected Molly from Sylar and saved her life.--Ice Vision 12:20, 11 May 2007 (EDT)

Minor character?

Wouldn't she be more of a supporting character now, since she's obviously gonna play a very important part in the last 2 episodes? Heroe!(talk) (contribs) Random Page! 22:38, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

I totally invented Mollys character.

Haha, back when I was inventing my own characters, I came up with a character who could find other Heroes, but in a bit of a different sense. In the long run, I changed it to "Sense others with evolved abilities" (which adds on to her being blind.)

I just thought it was cool someone had a power similar. :D--Riddler 20:55, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

  • When "Parasite" first aired, after seeing Linderman reveal to Nathan that he knew about him and Peter and Claire, and "all those others out there", I thought Linderman had this power. FlyingMan 22:58, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
  • Hehe, I had the same idea for a comic I was making, now I'll have to come up with something else.

--Pearse 10:53, 10 May 2007 (EDT)
