The Company's assignment tracker on Jesse states his ability is "sound manipulation" (The Butterfly Effect..

Rename

  • I think the common name for this ability is sonic scream.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:51, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
    • Actaully, on the nbc site it says he can do other kinds of things, like mimic and distort sounds. It also calls him a sound manipulator, so I think we should go with sound manipulation or something similar.--BardinessBoy 17:58, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
      • I'd rather go with something based on NBC's text than "sonic scream", but that's mostly my personal opinion. (Admin 20:47, 14 July 2008 (EDT))
        • Agreed, Admin. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:55, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
          • Actually, I just read the character reference for Echo and it explicitly says "Echo is a sound manipulator." I think that's rather clear support for "sound manipulation" if we're going to go by NBC.com's content.--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:43, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
            • I'd definitely agree with that. (Admin 21:45, 14 July 2008 (EDT))
              • "Make it so, #1" --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 07/14/2008 22:49 (EST)
                • here, here!!! this meeting is ajourned. :P Shoyru1177 21:33, 15 July 2008 (EDT)

Examples

Could someone get the examples gallery updated with all of the examples? I think all of the Constriction ones are up.--Bob (talk) 16:08, 27 July 2008 (EDT)

  • I'm not sure that when Echo is dancing with Gina (it seems he's producing the music) or when he whistles their theme song constitute examples of his ability, but I've added the other examples from the GN. Also, since YouTube quality isn't that good, could someone add the other examples from the webisodes?--Referos 14:46, 29 July 2008 (EDT)
  • I've uploaded and edited some examples into the gallery from One of Us, One of Them. How does it look? Dracomaster4 11:05, 7 October 2008 (EDT)

The list of examples on this page needs to be pared down to 12. --Ted C 13:12, 20 October 2008 (EDT)

Peter

Are we positive that peter has absorbed this power? He only used it while in Jesse's body, and though most likely he did absorb it, I don't recall him using the ability while out of Jesse's body. Did I miss something? Dracomaster4 04:09, 9 October 2008 (EDT)

He hasn't used it yet in his normal body, though he obviously knows about the power and how to activate it. But personally I'm not really fussed over the technicalities in this case :P Photolysis 06:44, 9 October 2008 (EDT)

Sylar

Did I miss anything or was a consensus reached on the possible Sylar use of this ability in Viewpoints? Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 12:31, 4 January 2009 (EST)

  • No consensus was ever reached. It remains a mystery what power he used in Viewpoints. See the discussion at Graphic Novel talk:Viewpoints#Sound Manipulation?. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:55, 4 January 2009 (EST)
    • No consensus? Sylar screamed (the "roar" sound effect), next thing we know, Dennis is a smoking skeleton. In Sting of Injustice, Jesse (who Sylar got the power from) could blast flesh of a human body. Besides, Sylar lost all his old powers, and hasn't had the time to rack up a high body count of victims with abilities that he stole. Sound manipulation is the only power he has that can blast flesh of a body. User:Remiel DeCarta 4:42, 5 January 2009 (EST)
      • When did Jesse blast the flesh of a human body? (my mistake re-read your comment) After re looking at The Sting of Injustice I have to agree with User:Remiel DeCarta in one frame you clearly see Jesse using he ability to rip the flesh off a body.
