description is possible

Note: The highlighted row represents the level of the source used to determine technopathy's name.
Source/Explanation
"Technopathy" is explicitly named in Micah's tip on the Assignment Tracker Map.

Manipulate Technology or Electronics

I read the article, and I believe the word "technology" is inappropriate. Micah has so far only worked with electronic equipment. Unless we have an indication that he could at the very least fix a mechanical watch, I think we shouldn't be so very broad. -- Cuardin 23:16, 6 January 2007 (EST)

I think that's a good move. Technology is the application of science, which Micah is not manipulating. He manipulates individual electronic devices. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:36, 6 January 2007 (EST)

Examples of Micah's Power

I disagree that there has only been one case of Micah's technopathy. Now, Micah is described as an extraordinarilly smart kid, but I believe that when he is rebuilding his computer in Genesis, that goes beyond simply being "smart". --Cuardin 14:26, 17 December 2006 (EST)

I agree - my bad that I omitted it. (It's been so long since I've seen Genesis!) I think you were right to place the reference in the notes, though, since it's definitely not an overt example of power exertion. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:12, 17 December 2006 (EST)

Hana

How is Hana's power related to this? I am putting a see also category at the bottom of each page -Zeckalpha 19:51, 25 February 2007 (EST)

  • Why do we need a "See Also" section when there's a navbar with links to all the powers just below it? Other than the fact that both affect technology, is there any reason to presume that Hana's and Micah's powers are any more related than, say, Matt's and the Haitian's?--Hardvice (talk) 22:00, 25 February 2007 (EST)
    • Good point, but I find the descriptions of both of these powers too similar. In the show/comics their powers are more different than the articles describe them as being. I don't know how to make the necessary changes that make them more distinct. -Zeckalpha 22:05, 25 February 2007 (EST)
      • We have corresponding notes on empathic mimicry and power theft somewhat distinguishing the two "acquisions" (thought that was more relevant when they were called "power mimicry" and "power absorption"). I don't think it would hurt to have a note on technopathy and EDT (or whatever we call it) saying something to the effect of, "Technopathy should not be confused with electronic data trasception, Hana's power to wirelessly transmit and receive electronic communication". — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:28, 26 February 2007 (EST)

Drainage

Did Micah appear drained from using his power or did he just want to go home? I didn't "get" that the power was draining at all. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:07, 16 May 2007 (EDT)

  • I'm still not buying that Micah was "drained" after using his power. I got that he was bored, and that he wanted to go home, but not that the power drained him. I would say that line is pretty speculative and possibly wrong. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:20, 11 June 2007 (EDT)
  • It looked to me like he felt "drained" and combined with Candace's response that's how I interpreted it, but I agree it's debatable and I don't think it would hurt the article to take it out. (Admin 17:35, 11 June 2007 (EDT))
    • Right, I see where y'all are coming from. My wife firmly believes it drains the user. It's certainly possible, I just think it's a big jump to make. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:51, 11 June 2007 (EDT)
      • has anyone noticed how Matt has bled from his nose, what twice now? and Alejandro is exerting himself when fixing Maya's victims. why wouldnt Micah, a little boy, be strained from using his power to not just affect the computer in front of him, but computers all over that network? he may have not been bleeding from his nose, but i think he was drained.--DawnTreader 03:46, 31 October 2007 (EDT)
      • I see where you're going with this. My take on it is that it could just be an anomaly on the part of the writers, however, if he appears drained after a second use of his power sometime in the future, then I think it's safe to say that dealing with something that powerful would be draining. After all, he was manipulating all of the districts voting machines from just one source. Dracomaster4 06:44, 10 October 2008 (EDT)

Peter Petrelli

In the last episode of season one, Peter is been seen on the square nearby Micah, so doesn't Peter also posess this power? (If he didn't died)--Lothario 03:44, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

  • Very possibly, but he has never exhibited the power. Until he does, we do not assume he has absorbed the power. However, it is listed as one of the powers to which he has been exposed. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 05:35, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

Use of power without direct contact

In the season finale for season two would I be right to assume that Micah used his power without direct contact with the object. The scene where he and his mother are going down the street and he says that he told the traffic light to change.--Iceman 12:51, 5 December 2007 (EST)

  • That's the first instance I can think of where he didn't have physical contact with the electronics...unless he was telling the cell phone to tell the traffic lights to change, which I doubt. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:48, 5 December 2007 (EST)
  • I'm betting it's similar to Hana's gift. He seems to need close proximity to interact with machines to do specific things, like cross-reference information on Niki and Tracy. However, just changing a light may be a small thing in the program much like an on off switch. With his analogy of talking to machines, theoretically/and comically, he may have just yelled out the window to the traffic light. Dracomaster4 06:48, 10 October 2008 (EDT)

Lead Image

I prefer the old lead image we had, Image:Powers_micah.jpg. The new one doesn't show anything the old one doesn't--they both are images of Micah touching a device. However, what I really liked about the phone was that it actually said "Out of Order", so it showed that Micah could still talk to machines that aren't working. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:16, 18 December 2007 (EST)

  • Yeah, I agree, and there appears to be some weird mutation thingy on the phone. His power looks like it's polluting it or something. --Ice Vision (talk)
    • Mutation thingy? I don't see it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:50, 18 December 2007 (EST)
      • I don't know what it is. It's next to the number pad. The color is darker. --Ice Vision (talk)
        • Oh, I just took it as a...darker color. In any case, I still think it's a better lead image than the one we currently have on the page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:57, 18 December 2007 (EST)
          • Yeah, you're probably right. I just thought it looked weird and cool.--Ice Vision (talk) 23:00, 18 December 2007 (EST)
            • You may be right about the out of order thing, but shouldn't we have one with his face so you can see his eyes closed?--Riddler 23:06, 18 December 2007 (EST)
              • If it's a choice between eyes closed (which he doesn't always do) and making out of order technology work, I'd choose the latter. His eyes are closed enough in the gallery. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:26, 18 December 2007 (EST)
                • I'm betting that darker color is his reflection...seems to be his hair color and style. Dracomaster4 06:51, 10 October 2008 (EDT)
  • I agree. I wanted to update the lead image to something more recent, but then I realized that they're not much different and the old one had an "Out Of Order" sign next to it, which mde his ability a bit clearer. --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 23:38, 18 December 2007 (EST)

Monica's cell phone

I don't think Micah was doing any talking to Monica's cell phone in Powerless. I believe he was just telling Niki's cell phone to do the work and find Monica's phone, which was emitting a tiny GPS signal. From Micah:

Monica has a cell phone, and the battery emits a tiny GPS signal, which I can use to try and get her position. Basically, I told your cell phone to find her cell phone and show me where it is.

I don't think we need to have the info about Micah being able to use the cell phone grid because he says he's using the cell phones, and we know he can now speak to machines without touching them, like he did with the traffic lights. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:24, 15 January 2008 (EST)

Limits

  • Just out of curiosity, what is "non-physical contact"? Wouldn't "with or without physical contact" be less oxymoronic?--Hardvice (talk) 17:09, 15 January 2008 (EST)
  • Yeah, that does make more sense. Jason Garrick 21:42, 15 January 2008 (EST)

Naming Conventions

It sys that this is named Semi-canonly, because it was explicitly listed in Micah's Assignment Tracker tip. Thing is shouldn't that be upgraded to canonly listed, as it was listed in the show as "Technopathy" in Nathan's files? -- Leckie -- Talk 15:53, 27 December 2009 (EST)

  • Is it? The images we have here don't show that, are you sure it said "technopathy"? --Ricard Desi (t,c) 16:39, 27 December 2009 (EST)
    • I'm about 99.8% sure that it was listed as Technopathy. I'll watch Dual again and find out -- Leckie -- Talk 16:47, 27 December 2009 (EST)
      • Looks like I was wrong :( Urgh to be 99.8% sure, only to find out that that .2% was what you should've gone with! -- Leckie -- Talk 17:25, 27 December 2009 (EST)

Cyberpathy

EPIC said that Myles Stevens has the power of cyberpathy. The question is: are technopathy and cyberpathy the same thing? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:43, 4 October 2015 (EDT)
