Template Preparement

Hey! The page looks great! You can see here for the release dates of things! ~~IHHTalk 18:43, 25 November 2009 (EST)

  • Thanks Iheartheroes :) I already known your page, because I benefitted from it before :) Me and SVD have been preparing the Release and Arc Order page for a while now. With this template, what I'm planning is much more than what I've been & I'll be doing with release orders. It's 1-by-1 and step-by-step calculations of the in-universe timeline using each and every in-universe info possible :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 02:16, 26 November 2009 (EST)
    • Okay, I did the template how you had asked, and it is confusing. What do you think? I added the noinclude tage around it. Also, inside the Seasons where it says Pods, I couldn't get those to automatically collapse, but I'm still working on that. Also, I fixed one of your links in Pod One, Week 2. Don't Look Back, it said that the link had Week1 in it, so i changed it to Week2. You can change it back though...So let me know what you think! ~~IHHTalk 10:34, 27 November 2009 (EST)
      • IHH, you're definitely great. What you did is awesome, terrific :) and also beyond what I'd imagined you would do :)). I just thought you would give me a hand with all these format things (colspan, collapsible span<id=...> etc.) but you went far beyond and more than only creating the template you added all the volumes and the pods and some of the weeks AND the episodes, GNs etc.. Thank you SO VERY MUCH. By the way, about Don't Look Back, it was my mistake, I forgot to change week1 to week2, thank you for taking care of it. Plus also thank you soo much for adding me as your friend in your friend's page. You can use Image:Jan.jpg, if you think it's suitable there. It's a childhood photo of mine :) If you prefer something else, we can always choose another photo. You really made me happy tonight. I hope I can extend some of my happiness upto you. Cordially&Friendly, -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 16:00, 27 November 2009 (EST)
        • Well thanks very much, and I was just impressed by what you are doing, that I thought I would want to help you out a bit! So, you're welcome! With the iStories, how do you want them to be worded? "The Agent, Chaper 404"? That's what I was thinking but what about the one's with titles? Do you still want it "Slow Burn, Chapter 709"? ~~IHHTalk 18:17, 27 November 2009 (EST)
          • I finished all of the Episode weeks, but I still need iStories. Also, your code is V#/P#/Week#. But on Season Three I wasn't sure what to do. The way I have it (which can be changed) is for Volume Three, V3/P1/Week# and Volume Four, V4/P2/Week#. Is that okay? Also, with the code you gave me, I couldn't get it to work. But I assume that you might be able to do that? Anyways, there you go! Just let me know if you need any more help! ~~IHHTalk 21:21, 27 November 2009 (EST)
            • In order for me to do the inter and intra volumes/seasons, I need to know the V#/P#/Week# thing for them...Also, I chnged the templates but left your two down at the bottom. You can change it if you want, but by the way you reacted (or at least the way I took it) it sounded like you wanted mine as the lead template. But just some food for thought! Take care! ~~IHHTalk 23:34, 27 November 2009 (EST)
              • Hi, IHH, I couldn't write you immediately as we've a great time difference, I just woke up an hour ago, it's 9.10 a.m here, you would or sleeping or about to go to bed now :) I've put back the other template for now, because of two things. Because I'm going slowly and there're people who use that page and I don't wanna reveal them the names of the future episodes (it would be like spoiler to them). Because theye're still in the beginning of Heroes. - I've made a group, I'll explain you about that later. But I'll add your template, hiding the name of the upcoming episodes and volumes (tomorrow Don't Look Back airs for us, so upcoming in that sense) and after making also the pods collapsible. I think I can make it, at least I'll try. I hope I didn't offend you by changing the template, it's actually because I want to improve it and put it up again. By the way, about the nomenclature, I think we can use the ones in SVD's RAO page, where me & SVD worked together a while ago. Thank you very much again for everything you've done. By the way, what do you think about the timelines themselves. Is it good how it goes, are they clear enough, or should I do something to improve them? Friendly -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 02:25, 28 November 2009 (EST)
                • Almost 3.5 hours of trial and at the end it worked!! You can see the Sandbox for what I did. If you hadn't prepared the template I couldn't do it. Thank you IHH, Friendly -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 06:09, 28 November 2009 (EST)
                  • Plus 1 more hour to improve it. But I still have few details to fix. :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 06:57, 28 November 2009 (EST)
                    • I think the work you guys are doing here is great. If you wouldn't mind I'd like to help out. I'll start on a page in my userspace working on the dates from 2009 backwards. I'll also come up with a theoretical timeline to see if the dates add up. - Jenx222 | U / T / C 09:12, 28 November 2009 (EST)
                      • Of course Jenx, you could give out a hand, thank you very much. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 11:02, 28 November 2009 (EST)
                        • You didn't offend me at all! I was just testing it out and I did find a mistake! I hadn't closed it up, so everything else on the page was centered! But you're welcome! The other one where you got it to work, I like it but is there any possible way not to have the words "Volume One" twice? Or "Pod One" twice? To where on the verticle sides it is just the weeks? I will respond back about the group thing when I have more time and yes, I think I was asleep! So for Volumes 3 and 4, just take out the P1's and P2's? Also do you want me to do the same on Volume Two since there is only one pod? Also, I'm still confused on the iStory headlines...Thanks Can (or do you prefer Jan?)! ~~IHHTalk 12:28, 28 November 2009 (EST)
  • I started on the iStories (the ones without titles). What do you think? Do you want me to do the same thing to the ones with titles? Also, I still need the V#/P# for inbetween times...thanks! ~~IHHTalk 13:04, 28 November 2009 (EST)
    • Normally I prefer Can, but you can call me both, I don't mind it. Can is my real name, and though I prefer it, it has the disadventage to be read like <ken> like in "I can" :)). How should I call you, is IHH ok? And about the V1, P1 thing, I think it's possible. I'll do it as soon as possible. I'll remove the ones on the left. I didn't understand what you asked by To where on the verticle sides it is just the weeks? By the way, you don't need to go and do all of the Volume 2 and the iStories, because there's still a lot of time until I reach there and their names are already there in SVD's page. What about the pages themselves, I highlighted the newbies (new infos) for each page :) Don't forget to consider about the group, it's both fun and helpful & makes u more addiected to Heroes :)) I've a horrible headache, I hope it goes away. Take care buddy :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 15:20, 28 November 2009 (EST)
      • It was easy lol :) I removed the ones on the left already. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 15:30, 28 November 2009 (EST)
        • I don't like the dark blue week colours.. But I was so angry (the laughing angry) when I tried to save my work, you had four edits! I had all five volumes filled in! lol! I'll do the rest once we pick out a colour! Can you do a blue-green colour? Because you can't read what week it is on the template with this dark blue..
          • Actually, I didn't like this colour neither. That's why I am just downloading Gimp :) With photoshop my pc gets slow. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 16:24, 28 November 2009 (EST)
            • Shouldn't we be focusing on actually calculating the timeline rather than how the template looks, lol. I've started a page and I'm in the process of verifying volume 3 dates. Feel free to take the data and add it to the template :P - Jenx222 | U / T / C 16:31, 28 November 2009 (EST)
              • Jenx, have you actually looked on the pages that this template link to (the blue ones obviously)? Because we can't do volume three until we go through all of V1 and V2. Start at the premire. Week 1. Then go to the next week available. See how the timeline grows as the links go by? That is what we are doing and Can had come to Ryan looking for help with the template not the timeline and I am helping him with the template. So V3 isn't even ready to be thought about. But anyways, what colour do you think it should be Can? (Also, IHH is fine. I don't really care!) ~~IHHTalk 16:38, 28 November 2009 (EST)
                • I like that colour a whole lot better! I saw it and was wow-ed! But don't worry about the edit conflict thing! Like I said it made me laugh! I don't get angry easily, so that little thing didn't bother me at all! ~~IHHTalk 16:40, 28 November 2009 (EST)
                • Wow, looks like our mind is kindda simultaneous and similar. I'd just written you this but couldn't publish because of edit conflict :)))

Sorry IHH, for the conflict edits...I suggest you to use a program called Notepad++ for these kind of long pages or templates. It really eases a lot of things and also especially the risk of not being published because of edit conflict. At least it saved me a many times :)) About the iStories again, I'll go to SVD's page and see how theye're named there. Hope you're not angry with me. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 16:45, 28 November 2009 (EST)

  • Can! I'm not angry with you! At all! I t takes alot for me to get angry! And I looked at SVD's page but it didn't really help. The Season Four information I did all of it, so it's not what you guys have done...but on my original template, I had the unnamed iStories put on there like this "The Agnet, Chapter 404" but I was just testing it and din't know what you wanted to do with the named ones... ~~IHHTalk 17:46, 28 November 2009 (EST)
    • The page was getting too lon so I seperated it into the four seasons' pages(templates). And the links to every other page is on the bottom of each page. I did not move the PP though. ~~IHHTalk 19:24, 28 November 2009 (EST)
      • Okay, when I made the season templates, they all had spaces in between them, so at the bottom of each one (except Season Four) it is missing a "|}" and then it is the noinclude tag for the Usage and such and then that is where the other "|}" the closing one is for that page. But on the top of all (Except PP) is a "|}" to close up the one that goes before it. That way there is no spaces inbetween them on the finalized drafts. So on the individual pages, there is a "|}" at the top. It has to be there! Also, for the Intravolumes and Interseasons. I did Season One (and plan to do the rest) with '''{{nbl|User:Janrodrigo/Timeline Calculations/Intravolume1.1/Week#/Title|Title}}''' or Intra 1.2 and I decided with the extra Intervolume inbetween V3 and V4, I did the other like this, leaving out seasons completely, '''{{nbl|User:Janrodrigo/Timeline Calculations/Intervolume#/Week#/Title|Title}}'''. Is that okay? Take Care! ~~IHHTalk 23:30, 28 November 2009 (EST)
        • About the titles they're ok. About the pages, do you intend to unify them at the end? Take care:) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 05:36, 29 November 2009 (EST)
          • About that |} thing, I think that we've still a problem, look at Week 1, at Genesis and all the others. The pages became a part of the template now. I think, it needs another |} at the bottom of each template. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 05:41, 29 November 2009 (EST)
            • Ok, IHH, I worked with that. And now, we don't need the extra |}'s at the top! It works also fine without them, I just needed to remove the duplicate code at the beginning of the template and fix few things. And now it's fine:) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 06:00, 29 November 2009 (EST)
              • Well good! I'm glad that it works because that was going to get tricky! Lol! I finished all of the inter's and intra's but I still need to know how to do the named iStories.......Also, should the page that has the timeline for each episode/GN/HE, should it have a link to the page on this site? ~~IHHTalk 10:29, 29 November 2009 (EST)
                • What is the purpose of the ext's? To be extended on the timeline page? If so, why after (actually starting with) Zach's blog post on Week 1 of Pod One of Season One un-extend the PP? ~~IHHTalk 10:37, 29 November 2009 (EST)
                  • To keep it the same, I did the titled iStories the same as the untitled ones. "The Agent, Chapter 404" and "Slow Burn, Chapter 704". Is that okay? ~~IHHTalk 11:05, 29 November 2009 (EST)

About the iStories, I actually forgot a lot of them - especially the old ones, how they were named or numbered etc. - I'll have to look back at them. So until then, please do as you like. Them seem alright until now :)

The ext's as you'd thought are for the time pages. I started to collapse them after Zach's post because, I actually intended to also use them as a navigational elemnt. Say it better, I want that if anyone is reviewing the entire timeline, I want him/her to be able to see the differences and proofs of every event in the timeline - and also the inconsistencies and the alternate timelines - just by navigating thanks to the template. That's what I intend actually for this template. And as the observer advances through the "released things (e.g episode, Gn etc.)" in the template I want to collapse the ones in the up, so that they don't hold a lot of space on the top -and bottom. But the observer may want to go back in the template and as s/he reaches for example the beginnings of S1, PP would automatically open up, so that he could have a sight a how he arrived there. I hope I'm clear :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 22:53, 29 November 2009 (EST)

If all the links lead to Jan's user pages, shouldn't this be a user template?--Catalyst · Talk · HL 19:52, 28 November 2009 (EST)
