{{blurb}}Scrolling intro text tells us that "a seemingly random group of individuals has emerged with what can only be described as 'special abilities.'" And that "these individuals will not only save the world, but change it forever." From here we make the rounds on the show's rather large ensemble cast: there's Peter Petrelli (a surprisingly upbeat Milo Ventimiglia), a nurse who has dreams that he can fly; his skeptical brother Nathan (Adrian Pasdar), who's running for office; Niki Sanders (Ali Larter), a Vegas webcam stripper who catches her own reflection moving; her prodigy son Micah (Noah Gray-Cabey); Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere), a Texas cheerleader who finds she's literally unbreakable; Isaac Mendez (Santiago Cabrera), a junkie artist whose paintings reveal the future; and Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), a corporate drone who thinks he can move space and time. Tying them all together is Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), a professor in India whose controversial theories about evolution have drawn the attention of a mysterious figure (known only as "Horn Rimmed Glasses" in the script). It seems said beliefs also led to his father's death and, fearing for his life, he flees to New York to seek out one of the evolutionary leaps he's been tracking. There, undercover as a cab driver, he stumbles upon Peter, who's now convinced himself he can fly and is willing to literally take the leap to prove it. We also begin to see the various connections between our "special" people, such as the daughter of one of Peter's patients (Tawny Cypress) is dating Isaac, one of Hiro's friends is a regular "viewer" of Niki and in the pilot's final big reveal - who "Horn Rimmed Glasses" actually is. Oh, and did I mention this all is happening during a solar eclipse?{{blurbclose}}

Information Update edit

2005-May 2006June 2006July 2006Aug.-Sept. 2006Overview

2005

  1. It all starts when Tim Kring (1, I) decides to write a story about everyday people, discovering their extraordinary abilities. He develops different ideas and forms a story.
  2. He calls his story by the name Heroes.
  3. Tim Kring presents his ideas and the plot for the first episode to NBC, where he has been working for a long time.
    • NBC, the National Broadcasting Company is an American television network. Its headquarters is in the GE building in New York City’s Rockefeller Centre. It was formed first in 1926. Now it is owned by the NBC Universal Incorporation.
    • NBC Universal Inc. itself is a media and entertainment company formed by the merger of NBC and Vivendi Universal Entertainment. Now 80% of NBC Universal is owned by General Electric, the remaining 20% is owned by Vivendi.
    • NBC Universal products are: NBC, NBC Universal Studios, NBC Universal Television Group, NBC News, USA, CNBC, MSNBC cable TV, NBC.com, MSNBC.com, iVillage, Bravo, qubo, SendMeRSS, Telemundo Television Studios, The Weather Channel.

  6. Tim Kring and NBC start to form the crew (4) and the cast (5).
  7. Tim Sale (II) joins the crew as the Artistic Consultant. Therefore, we have
  8. Tim Sale's website (6) which will also provide us with upcoming information.
  9. Dennis Hammer (III) joins the crew as an Executive Producer.

December 2, 2005

  • A network draft of Heroes' pilot is written by Tim Kring. The chapter covers are painted by Tim Sale and it is copy righted by NBC. It is composed of four chapters and is to be released much later.

January 2006

January 12

HEROES (NBC) - "Crossing Jordan" creator Tim Kring has been given the go-ahead to produce a two-hour pilot for the drama project, about a group of seemingly everyday people who discover that they have superpowers. Kring will write and executive produce the drama, which is set up at NBC Universal Television.

February 2006

February 10

  1. David Semel (IV) joins the crew as the Director of the pilot.

  3. According to the Futon Critic; Greg Grunberg (3), Santiago Cabrera (4), Tawny Cypress (5), Masi Oka (6) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (7) also join the cast of Heroes.

February 17

March 3

  1. The production of the show is decided to be realised by NBC Universal Media Studios (9) in association with Tailwind Productions (10), a film production company founded by Tim Kring.
  2. An interview with Tim Kring reveals the following:
"It's about very ordinary people all over the world who literally discover that they have special powers, and it's their dealing with that. The superheroes, er, ordinary people include;
  • a 30-year-old male nurse who believes he can fly;
  • a 28-year-old junkie who has the ability to paint images of the future;
  • a 33-year-old Las Vegas showgirl who can do incredible things with mirrors;
  • a 24-year-old Japanese comic-book geek who literally makes time stand still;
  • a 31-year-old inmate who can transport himself through walls; and
  • a 17-year-old cheerleader who defies death at every turn."

"Not only are they discovering what having superpowers means to them but also the larger picture of where their superpowers come from. Eventually their superpowers draw them together when they try to evade the series’ antagonist who wants to harness their super-DNA for himself."

"It’s pretty grounded in reality. Part of what makes it really feel very real is that these people’s lives should mirror your own; you should be able to see your ordinary life reflected on screen. It’s a big interconnected saga. They’re all drawn together towards a destiny of saving the world. And it’s extremely serialized.”

  2. Lori Motyer (VII) joins the crew as the Co-producer.

March 7

A prison inmate (Leonard Roberts, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) mysteriously finds himself waking up outside of his cell. A gifted artist (Santiago Cabrera, Empire), whose drug addiction is destroying his life and the relationship with his girlfriend (Tawny Cypress, Third Watch), can paint the future. A down-on-his-luck beat cop (Greg Grunberg, Alias) can hear people's thoughts, including the secrets of a captured terrorist. In Japan, a young man (Masi Oka, Scrubs) develops a way to stop time through sheer will power. Their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world. Heroes is executive produced by creator/writer Tim Kring (Crossing Jordan), Dennis Hammer (Crossing Jordan), and David Semel (House), who also directed the pilot. The drama is from NBC Universal Television Studio.

Overview I

Heroes is created Tim Kring. But, for taking a shape it needed a crew and a cast and for spreading out to the world it needed media organisations and/or companies. Only through these Heroes could be Heroes - an interconnecting saga.
"Heroes Creation" can further be divided into four:

  • People or Companies, the ones directly creating or being directly involved with the Heroes Universe,
  • Official Media, subsidiary of the first one; the media that is officially related to Heroes,
  • Unofficial Media, all the other Heroes fansites, blogs etc... providing us information and
  • Unrelated Media all the other media that is not directly with Heroes, but that provides us with information and content.
