Story

It was a cold winter’s night, and the snow was falling softly on the ground around him. Arthur sat silently on a bench in the centre of the park, staring out into the wilderness. He bent down and placed his head in his hands.

“I……I……..” – Arthur

A man approached Arthur from the darkness.

“It’s a strange night to be out.” – Michael

Arthur raised his head and glanced at the man standing there.

“What do you want?” – Arthur

“I’ve come to make sure you’re not losing your focus.” – Michael

“I’m guessing ‘he’ sent you?” – Arthur

“Of course, just to make sure you’re on the right path.” – Michael

“Don’t worry; I’ll finish what I started.” – Arthur

“Excellent, listen Arthur, if you’re having trouble focusing on the objective try being spontaneous, let yourself go, know one has to know right?” - Michael

“Humph.” – Arthur

Michael grinned at Arthur then turned and walked away, back into the shadows. Arthur got to his feet and began walking in the opposite direction. The wind was howling and the snow seemed to be falling harder than ever. The sudden change in the weather had no effect on Arthur. He was trapped in a daze, what should he do? What could he do? He continued to walk through the park, when it came to him, he was just sitting there in the clearing. The snow was falling around him yet none of it seemed to touch him. Arthur turned off the path and headed into the clearing. The man just sat there, his eyes closed.

“That’s quite a talent you’ve got there.” – Arthur

“I consider it to be more of a gift than a talent.” – Max

“Either way…” – Arthur

“Can I help you with anything?” – Max

“To my regret, I think you can.” – Arthur

Arthur raised his hands and released a wave of energy. Max immediately opened his eyes and raised his hands. A wall of energy formed before him and reflected Arthur’s attack. He continued to release wave after wave of energy to no avail. Arthur ceased his attack and lowered his hands. The resulting shock wave flew outwards of the clearing and shook through the trees.

“That really is quite the gift.” – Arthur

“It is, although I do believe these gifts are not always given to the right people.” – Max

“If you’re referring to me I can assure you, I deserve my power!” – Arthur

Arthur raised his hands once more and shot out a huge wave of energy. Once again it was reflected by Max’s wall of energy. He raised his hand and telekinetically broke Max’s neck. There was a sudden crack, and Max fell to the floor with a thud.

“Couldn’t block that could you?” – Arthur

Arthur approached his body and began to reach out his hand, when he suddenly heard a familiar voice in the background.

“Arthur, what are you doing?” – Daniel

“Daniel, what are you doing here?” – Arthur

“I was just going for a …… wait, what the hell are you doing? Why did you attack that guy?” – Daniel

“He came at me, I had to defend myself, he was….” – Arthur

“Why are you lying, Arthur? I saw the whole thing.” – Daniel

Arthur telekinetically pulled Daniel to him and placed his hands on either side of his head.

“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” – Daniel

He was writhing in pain until he fell silent. He collapsed into a heap on the floor. Arthur stepped over him and looked down upon him with a glimmer in his eye.

“I’m sorry Daniel, but you saw too much” – Arthur

Arthur closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The snow was getting heavier by the minute. Arthur turned and walked away, leaving Daniel lying motionless in a heap on the ground.
