New Seasonal Gallery Example
Was thinking yesterday about how alot of the example galleries are getting really big...and how we've solved the problem somewhat by creating a secondary page for many of the powers which list the seasonal examples. However, with many of the galleries, it is still a pretty large display; and ever growing. My thoughts in creating this format; is to come up with a new standard format for listing seasonal galleries; where the prior seasons are included but are defaulted to hidden; and only the current season is defaulted to expanded. With this format; you don't have to scroll several pages if you don't want to to get to the current season; and you can exapnd or collapse whichever season you are interested in.
What do you guys think about adopting this type of a standard; so that we start regaining and making a little better use of page-space? `--HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 11/12/2008 09:17 (EST)
- No comments....we'll I'm gonna move this exampled one over into the mainpage; and see if how folks like it. If it is well received, I think it is something that would be good to do for all of the large seasonal gallery pages (many of the power pages would be good candidates); if not, we can always roll it back. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 11/13/2008 10:00 (EST)
- I think it's very nice and very clean...but one of the things I like about the gallery pages (like examples of lightning or The Company's guns/Gallery) is that they're a full gallery of every example. I will often browse the page and stumble upon a picture, and example, an event, whatever--something that I've forgotten from long ago. I think collapsible tables for the previous seasons is a good idea when we start getting into the eighth or ninth season of telekinesis examples. I don't think we need to implement it right now, though. The point of a gallery page is to show everything. If we didn't have the gallery pages, then I would definitely be in favor of using this method on the powers pages...but I would like to avoid making users click too many times to get the information they want. I'm certainly not opposed to this method, I just don't think we need it right now. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:24, 13 November 2008 (EST)
- Any problem with me going through the galleries, and implementing the collapsible season code; but setting the default to be exapanded on all of them? That way, folks who don't want to see prior seasons, could hide them; and in the future if we want to start turing earlier seasons to hidden, the codes already there and in place...we just flip a few switches. (since it is all fresh on my mind right now). --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 11/13/2008 10:31 (EST)
- Actually, that's not a bad idea... However, we'll want to make sure the page still looks like it has headings. Give me a minute to fix up this page a bit. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:51, 13 November 2008 (EST)
I just took the ImageNav template and did this to it...(here). My ultimate goal is a new template that will use collapsible sections to be able to make a quicker one-point resource for finding all episode or images pages...but that one is gonna take a while to finish. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 11/12/2008 11:19 (EST)
- I replied here. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:31, 13 November 2008 (EST)
