Welcome!

Welcome to my obsession, Nick - it's good to have you aboard! - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:21, 17 January 2007 (EST)

I am an Idiot

I should check up on stuff more. I wasted my time writing a synopsis for unexpected when the absolutely articulate Admin is supposed to write it. Doi!

Hey, Japanimation14. I mentioned this on the article talk page, but I just wanted to mention it here, too. It's not required that I write the synopses, it's just how it usually ends up getting done. :) If you're interested in writing a synopsis sometime just check out the previous ones for an idea of the level of detail and the format of the synopsis and then have fun. :) (Admin 22:22, 19 February 2007 (EST))
To go along with that: you are not an idiot. It was a pretty good synopsis ... maybe not as detailed as Admin's usually are, but it covered everything. Nice work. One thing to be careful of in episode summaries: we use an "in-world" Perspective for everything except Notes. That means you should avoid any references to the viewer, scenes, commercial breaks, episodes, and the like. Write like you live in the Heroes world and you're writing a newspaper article and you'll be spot on. Good work, though!--Hardvice (talk) 00:59, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Site translation

Hey, Nick. I saw your note on Admin's page about translations. There's information on site translation on the Main Page. Personally, I speak Albanian fluently, but I'm not spending my time translating up to 800 pages. Ugh! :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:40, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Hey there

Are you still online? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:04, 31 October 2007 (EDT)

Screencaps

Since you have the ability to do screencaps, you might want to check out the screencaps request page periodically to see if there's anything people are looking for. Don't forget to also make any screencaps standard size. Let me know if you have any questions. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:54, 4 November 2007 (EST)

Nero and your DVD drive.

I left you a message on the discussion page of The Post Show, but I though this would be more direct. I have Nero on my computer[which I could bring over to your house] and I also have access to an External CD-RW drive. If you think you have use of either of those just tell me. I have time. --Japanimation14 23:28, 10 November 2007 (EST)

  • Yeah, let's check it out and see if it works. Wanna come over tomorrow? ... By the way, to sign a message, you can just type four tildes, which look like this: ~~~~. You can also just hit the signature button. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:30, 10 November 2007 (EST)

Hello!

Nice to meet you. You're very lucky to live so close to the now iconic Ryan Stewart. :) Do you still need help with Template:User infobox? You already have the user infobox on your user page, but maybe there's some option you don't yet understand? BTW, I just fixed your userpage so the text didn't float left off of my screen.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:48, 10 November 2007 (EST)

  • "Iconic"? I object! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:59, 10 November 2007 (EST)
    • Why are you objecting? You are an interviewing super-star, the pop icon of Heroes Wiki. ;)--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:08, 11 November 2007 (EST)
  • I was speaking about the Userbox, not User infobox page. Thats for the help though. If you want to hypothesize with me with the userboxes, be my guest.--Japanimation14 23:51, 10 November 2007 (EST)
    • Great! I missed that in reading it over quickly. Template:Userbox hasn't really been used much at all here since most of that info. is being presented in Template:User infobox. On wikipedia, many users use the Userbox template to visually show things like their nationality at the top of their userpage, kind of like a banner, and I think we originally wanted to stray away from that. That's my guess as to why no one's used it since it was introduced in January. Is there an option you don't understand on the userbox template? It does do the flag colors well.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:08, 11 November 2007 (EST)
      • Hmm, no, I just want someone to help me hatch ideas. Other than that, I though it would be a neat idea to do them, and it's fun to work on a project on here by myself.--Japanimation14 00:14, 11 November 2007 (EST)
        • Well, maybe I have one idea: the nationality stuff would be cool if you could shrink it down and make a way to insert it into the user infobox somehow instead of having to use it like a banner. Just a thought. It might be good for favorite color too.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:20, 11 November 2007 (EST)
          • They look very nice, and you've done a great job formatting them. We've never discouraged the use of the boxes, and I don't think we've ever said we wanted to stay away from using banners or proclaiming nationalities--in fact, I think it'd be kinda cool to know where our users come from. However, our users don't really use the boxes too much, but I'm not sure why. Maybe it's not promoted, maybe people just don't care very much. For me personally, it just doesn't interest me all that much. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:22, 11 November 2007 (EST)
            • Since a lot more people use the user infobox, adding a variable to that template would be a great idea so the banner shows at the top. I could update MediaWiki:Newarticletext, too. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:24, 11 November 2007 (EST)
              • Well, I just created myself a subpage to mess around with it. I have a few Ideas so if you want to you can check on it every so often.--Japanimation14 00:27, 11 November 2007 (EST)
            • I agree with Ryan: you've done an awesome job on them and they look great. I don't personally use them because they became a bit ... overdone ... on wikipedia; people would have about a hundred of them and it started to look a bit silly. But I still think it's great that we have them; it's certainly a feature that people from other Wikis will recognize and appreciate.--Hardvice (talk) 00:31, 11 November 2007 (EST)
              • Like I was saying, they can be easily overdone. The good thing about adding it as an option is that you can add more than one option, perhaps an option to show it inside the infobox, and another option to show it as a banner (can you tell you that I prefer the former? ;)).--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:36, 11 November 2007 (EST)
                • Yeah, I can tell :D. I am going to work on this over the next few week. I really wish the markup wasn't so hard to mess around with. But I shall work around it.--Japanimation14 00:39, 11 November 2007 (EST)
                  • Tell you what--you help me with my DVD drive, and I'll help you with the markup. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:42, 11 November 2007 (EST)

Aaah, The old "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" situation. I stuck a userbox in the infobox under the name. Now, I'll need to make the box smaller and make it so the userbox isn't affected by the bold formatting on the inside of the box. Fun fun fun! Meh, it's not such a big deal. The Empire State Building wasn't built in a day.--Japanimation14 00:48, 11 November 2007 (EST)

Thank you

I hereby award you this medal in gratitude of fixing my DVD drive, and just being frickin' awesome! Thanks, man! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:40, 11 November 2007 (EST)
