Welcome to my obsession, Nick - it's good to have you aboard! - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:21, 17 January 2007 (EST)

I am an Idiot

I should check up on stuff more. I wasted my time writing a synopsis for unexpected when the absolutely articulate Admin is supposed to write it. Doi!

Hey, Japanimation. I mentioned this on the article talk page, but I just wanted to mention it here, too. It's not required that I write the synopses, it's just how it usually ends up getting done. :) If you're interested in writing a synopsis sometime just check out the previous ones for an idea of the level of detail and the format of the synopsis and then have fun. :) (Admin 22:22, 19 February 2007 (EST))
To go along with that: you are not an idiot. It was a pretty good synopsis ... maybe not as detailed as Admin's usually are, but it covered everything. Nice work. One thing to be careful of in episode summaries: we use an "in-world" Perspective for everything except Notes. That means you should avoid any references to the viewer, scenes, commercial breaks, episodes, and the like. Write like you live in the Heroes world and you're writing a newspaper article and you'll be spot on. Good work, though!--Hardvice (talk) 00:59, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Site translation

Hey, Nick. I saw your note on Admin's page about translations. There's information on site translation on the Main Page. Personally, I speak Albanian fluently, but I'm not spending my time translating up to 800 pages. Ugh! :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:40, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Hey there

Are you still online? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:04, 31 October 2007 (EDT)

Since you have the ability to do screencaps, you might want to check out the screencaps request page periodically to see if there's anything people are looking for. Don't forget to also make any screencaps standard size. Let me know if you have any questions. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:54, 4 November 2007 (EST)

Night owl

GO TO BED! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:17, 8 November 2007 (EST)

Nero and your DVD drive.

I left you a message on the discussion page of The Post Show, but I though this would be more direct. I have Nero on my computer[which I could bring over to your house] and I also have access to an External CD-RW drive. If you think you have use of either of those just tell me. I have time. --Japanimation 23:28, 10 November 2007 (EST)

  • Yeah, let's check it out and see if it works. Wanna come over tomorrow? ... By the way, to sign a message, you can just type four tildes, which look like this: ~~~~. You can also just hit the signature button. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:30, 10 November 2007 (EST)

Nice to meet you. You're very lucky to live so close to the now iconic Ryan Stewart. :) Do you still need help with Template:User infobox? You already have the user infobox on your user page, but maybe there's some option you don't yet understand? BTW, I just fixed your userpage so the text didn't float left off of my screen.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:48, 10 November 2007 (EST)

  • "Iconic"? I object! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:59, 10 November 2007 (EST)
    • Why are you objecting? You are an interviewing super-star, the pop icon of Heroes Wiki. ;)--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:08, 11 November 2007 (EST)
  • I was speaking about the Userbox, not User infobox page. Thats for the help though. If you want to hypothesize with me with the userboxes, be my guest.--Japanimation 23:51, 10 November 2007 (EST)
    • Great! I missed that in reading it over quickly. Template:Userbox hasn't really been used much at all here since most of that info. is being presented in Template:User infobox. On wikipedia, many users use the Userbox template to visually show things like their nationality at the top of their userpage, kind of like a banner, and I think we originally wanted to stray away from that. That's my guess as to why no one's used it since it was introduced in January. Is there an option you don't understand on the userbox template? It does do the flag colors well.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:08, 11 November 2007 (EST)
      • Hmm, no, I just want someone to help me hatch ideas. Other than that, I though it would be a neat idea to do them, and it's fun to work on a project on here by myself.--Japanimation 00:14, 11 November 2007 (EST)
        • Well, maybe I have one idea: the nationality stuff would be cool if you could shrink it down and make a way to insert it into the user infobox somehow instead of having to use it like a banner. Just a thought. It might be good for favorite color too.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:20, 11 November 2007 (EST)
          • They look very nice, and you've done a great job formatting them. We've never discouraged the use of the boxes, and I don't think we've ever said we wanted to stay away from using banners or proclaiming nationalities--in fact, I think it'd be kinda cool to know where our users come from. However, our users don't really use the boxes too much, but I'm not sure why. Maybe it's not promoted, maybe people just don't care very much. For me personally, it just doesn't interest me all that much. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:22, 11 November 2007 (EST)
            • Since a lot more people use the user infobox, adding a variable to that template would be a great idea so the banner shows at the top. I could update MediaWiki:Newarticletext, too. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:24, 11 November 2007 (EST)
              • Well, I just created myself a subpage to mess around with it. I have a few Ideas so if you want to you can check on it every so often.--Japanimation 00:27, 11 November 2007 (EST)
            • I agree with Ryan: you've done an awesome job on them and they look great. I don't personally use them because they became a bit ... overdone ... on wikipedia; people would have about a hundred of them and it started to look a bit silly. But I still think it's great that we have them; it's certainly a feature that people from other Wikis will recognize and appreciate.--Hardvice (talk) 00:31, 11 November 2007 (EST)
              • Like I was saying, they can be easily overdone. The good thing about adding it as an option is that you can add more than one option, perhaps an option to show it inside the infobox, and another option to show it as a banner (can you tell you that I prefer the former? ;)).--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:36, 11 November 2007 (EST)
                • Yeah, I can tell :D. I am going to work on this over the next few week. I really wish the markup wasn't so hard to mess around with. But I shall work around it.--Japanimation 00:39, 11 November 2007 (EST)
                  • Tell you what--you help me with my DVD drive, and I'll help you with the markup. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:42, 11 November 2007 (EST)

Aaah, The old "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" situation. I stuck a userbox in the infobox under the name. Now, I'll need to make the box smaller and make it so the userbox isn't affected by the bold formatting on the inside of the box. Fun fun fun! Meh, it's not such a big deal. The Empire State Building wasn't built in a day.--Japanimation 00:48, 11 November 2007 (EST)

Thank you

I hereby award you this medal in gratitude of fixing my DVD drive, and just being frickin' awesome! Thanks, man! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:40, 11 November 2007 (EST)

  • Thanks again! You're a real lifesaver! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:17, 18 November 2007 (EST)
    • I'm running out of awards to present to you, so I'll give you some pills instead. :) Thanks for doing those YouTube videos! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:09, 29 November 2007 (EST)

Extra reading... case you want. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:47, 29 November 2007 (EST)

Sig template, autosig

Hey, that's one hefty sig template. It looks great, but it takes up at least 6 lines in my edit window, so I edited Ryan's talk page and converted it to template form ({{User:Japanimation/sig}}). Before you do more talk page commenting, you might want to create an "autosig". An autosig template is an extra signature subpage which you use in order to insert a "sig" template call instead of the actual signature when you click the signature button. The instructions for doing so are here. Let me know if you don't understand.--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:01, 29 November 2007 (EST)

  • Are you coming over on Saturday? I'll help you out with an autosig if you'd like. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:06, 29 November 2007 (EST)
  • Looks like you got it fixed, except that it's backwards. I wonder if you might be Russian. j/k ;)--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:06, 30 November 2007 (EST)
    • Let See if this works like it should...--  Japanimation          My Talk   01:12, 30 November 2007 (EST)
      • Cool, that's better. Next up is learning to indent using asterisks (*). :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:16, 30 November 2007 (EST)
        • Hey! Take that back ;p I use asterisks the way I want to :D....Up and down, up and down. It gives a talk page character XD--  Japanimation          My Talk   01:20, 30 November 2007 (EST)
          • Going back down is okay, just as long as the thread is at least a few levels deep. Otherwise, it makes the convo. hard to follow, imho, especially when you're trying to find an old discussion in a lengthy archive.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:27, 30 November 2007 (EST)
            • Yeah, I am as unique as wiki markup. speaking of wiki markup, I am assuming, the moz in the formatting for the radius stuff is tied to mozilla. because it doesn't render in IE7(which I use at school, those dastardly fiends)--  Japanimation          My Talk   13:45, 30 November 2007 (EST)
              • We've almost got the moz format patched for IE. Take a look at Hardvice's user page.--MiamiVolts (talk) 13:54, 30 November 2007 (EST)
                • I've never liked using Internet Explorer, but that is a welcome addition for me, espcially for when I am using other PC's. It's rendering pretty well for me on IE7. :)--  Japanimation          My Talk   13:56, 30 November 2007 (EST)

  • If you want to get rid of the 14 in your username, just ask Admin on his talk page. He has to edit the database to do it, but it has been done several times before. There's not any repercussions that I know of.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:05, 30 November 2007 (EST)

  • Nice code. Did you borrow it from my signature? (It's okay if you did, I don't mind or anything, just curious. If you didn't, I apologise.)--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  14:16, 30 November 2007 (EST)
    • Actually, I did :D, I referenced yours the most basically because I liked the layout. If you look at my created sigs page, The grey one is based directly off of yours.--  Japanimation          My Talk   18:41, 30 November 2007 (EST)

  • Remember to update the article name for your signature in Special:Preferences so it points to your new username. (Admin 22:52, 1 December 2007 (EST))
    • Also, you need to search for all references/links to "Japanimation14" and change them to "Japanimation" in case someone else wants to use that id in the future, and cause Admin intends to delete the redirects from your old sig to the new one. I'll try and help you some with this tommorrow, if you need the help, but now I'm getting some sleep. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:37, 1 December 2007 (EST)
      • Ok, the old references/links should be updated now.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:09, 2 December 2007 (EST)
    • Also if you haven't done so already, make sure to log out and log back in using your new username instead of your old one. (Admin 00:09, 2 December 2007 (EST))
      • Thanks for all the help guys! I appreciate it!--  Japanimation          My Talk   15:18, 2 December 2007 (EST)

RIP, Sony Vaio

Mike says it's my motherboard. Yikes. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:01, 17 April 2008 (EDT)

  • Yikes indeed. Could be pricey to replace if you go with an unused/new model.--MiamiVolts (talk) 13:59, 17 April 2008 (EDT)
    • Ouch, that is really a shame. One would hope that he is wrong but such is life. --  Japanimation          My Talk   02:12, 18 April 2008 (EDT)

Check it out...

Miiroes -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:39, 21 April 2008 (EDT)

Japanese text

Hey, can you translate the Japanese characters on Image:Lasvegasniki com.jpg? I tried translating myself, but I got as far as translating the individual characters (ku re ji tsu to ka <one> do wo <open> <better?> su ru ku ri tsu ku) and got stuck. Thanks.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:39, 26 September 2008 (EDT)

  • Heh. Japanimation is not Japanese and does not speak any other language (except maybe a little Italian). Sorry! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:06, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
    • First things first. This was a funny mistake on the part of MiamiVolts. Secondly. I can speak decent spanish on almost the conversational level...I know a little french and like Ryan said Italian...--  Japanimation          My Talk   17:58, 17 December 2008 (EST)
      • I've heard you speak some pretty mean Pig Latin... :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:03, 17 December 2008 (EST)
        • I should add that to my repertoire then ;D--  Japanimation          My Talk   18:06, 17 December 2008 (EST)

  • Japanimation is my neighbor and a good friend of mine. He's out of town right now and doesn't check HW all that often, but I'll let him know you left a message when he returns. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:42, 20 December 2008 (EST)
