Shortly after Howie Kaplan's escape, Jason Pierce recalls having been Rachel Mills's partner for a few weeks. He notes that he hates the "mutants", that for him it is about fear, but that for Rachel it is the real thing. Jason notes to himself that seeing the look on Rachel's face when he found her on the floor the first time they met, he began seeing their mission as a war. He continues that he heard Rachel sleep-talking through motel room walls and while she napped on surveillance, and she whispered the names Leona, Angela, and Grandpa. Jason adds that he has seen soldiers broken by combat, but for Rachel, it appeared to him that war was all she knew and that she needed a friend.

Next, Jason recalls how Rachel risked everything to go after Claire Bennet, noting to himself that he would have followed Rachel anywhere and that is what makes today so hard. He is riding with Rachel down the highway in a rented car, the same evening as Howie Kaplan's escape. Rachel keeps quiet as she drives, not noticing as Jason glances at her. As they pass around the next curve in the road, Jason notices a motorcycle following them and getting closer.

As horns blare, something slams into the underside of the car, and then they wind up on a dirt road paralleling the highway. Jason notes that the rider isn't following, but Rachel says to wait a minute. She then drives the car into some brush in the woods and cuts the engine.

Jason and Rachel sit in silence for a while, watching the road they were driving on. Then Rachel catches Jason looking at her and asks what he was thinking. Jason says he was thinking about her, and then Rachel smiles and begins to turn away.

He says that none of that would help her, and Rachel asks if he is talking about PTSD again. Jason then says he is not and the motorcycle rolls into view.

Rachel draws her gun and prepares to leave the car, but Jason grabs her arm and stops her. He tells Rachel he saw her save Howie Kaplan, and she stays quiet. The motorcycle rider kills the engine, but stays watching them on her bike. Jason notes to himself that the rider is waiting like he told her to do, and Rachel looks at the rider and then down at his hand. Rachel tells Jason that he should know his hand will not stop her; and when Jason agrees, she deduces that the motorcycle rider is Jason's backup plan. Rachel asks whom she is, and Jason explains that the girl is Jason's sister, Janey, who is in Army Intelligence. He adds that Janey doesn't know about Rachel's condition, and is just there in case she tries to use her ability.

Rachel replies that she doesn't care if the rider sees, and is tired of keeping the secret. Jason responds that Rachel is lying and that she would die to keep her secret. Rachel replies that she might die, but would definitely kill for it. Jason responds that her comment is another lie, and explains how loyalty is Rachel's defining quality so she should let him take her in. However, Rachel interrupts Jason asking whom else he has told, and Jason realizes she is going to try and kill him. Jason then injects Rachel with a hypodermic needle and she collapses onto him. He stretches Rachel's body back onto the seat, and brushes a lock of hair off her cheek as the motorcycle rider walks up behind him.

The rider tells Jason she thinks he has a crush on her, and he realizes the rider isn't his sister. He turns his head and she pulls off her helmet. Jason notices the rider is about 19, blonde, and cute with a shy smile. He guesses she is just a college kid, but she looks to be wearing Janey's gear so he asks whom she is. The rider smiles sadly and replies that she's a friend of Rachel's. Then, she raises a hand and Jason begins seeing gray.

As Jason stretches Rachel back onto the seat next to him, he notices the rider walk up behind him. He thanks her for the back-up, saying it went really smoothly and calling her Janey. The rider then responds that Jason has a "real way with the ladies", and he realizes the rider isn't Janey. Jason then turns his head and see her pull off her helmet. He notices she looks about 19, blonde, and cute with a shy smile. Jason guesses she is just a college kid, but she looks to be wearing Janey's gear so he asks whom she is. Tired kids, rumpled parents, and slumping truck drivers are among those eating. After getting seating, Rachel glances at her menu and comments that the place is not very good. However, Jason says it is perfect. Rachel asks what it is perfect for, and Jason realizes she sees through him. Then, the restaurant door opens again and Rachel and Jason notice a tall, dark, and pretty woman enter wearing motorcycle leathers. Jason makes eye contact with the woman, but she doesn't seem to recognize him.

Jason then tells Rachel he needs to tell her something and he needs her not to freak out. Rachel smiles and says she will not promise, and puts her hands under the table. Then, Jason tells her he saw her save Howie Kaplan, and that if she tries to what she did there in the restaurant, everyone will see her. Rachel replies that Jason set her up, and he replies that he isn't taking any chances. He adds that he promised Danko that this would go smoothly, but Rachel softly replies that he hasn't told Danko. She adds that if Danko had been told he would have come himself with a SWAT team and hope she tried to make a break for it so he could kill her. Jason then asks Rachel to turn herself in willingly, but Rachel tells him she thinks Danko will kill her after making her suffer. Jason replies that he thinks she is wrong, and Rachel responds that is cause he is not like Danko or her. She then asks who he has told, but Jason says it is not important. Rachel then gets up and faces the door.

Jason then replies that she is one of them, and begins to ask politely for her to sit back down. However, the woman in motorcycle leathers then gets up off a stool at the counter and begins to approach them with a military-grade taser in her hands. Jason explains to Rachel that the woman is his sister, that she isn't of one of them, but is a pro. Rachel asks what Janey knows, and Jason says she knows Rachel is coming with them peacefully. He adds that Rachel can trust her, and there's no other way out of this in front of all these witnesses.

Jason glances at the family whose dinner he messed up and notices they are staring back at him too blankly. Then, the youngest, an eight-year-old girl, falls from her chair onto the floor and drool trickles out of her mouth shocking him. Rachel and Jason notice that everyone in the room suddenly appear like they are asleep on their feet, and Janey's taser hits the floor with a thud. Jason asks Rachel what she did, but someone else answers from behind him. He hears the voice say Rachel didn't do anything and that is what makes his people so wrong.

Then, Jason spins around and sees a girl standing there. He guesses she is in her late teens, and notices she appears blonde, and wears a college sweatshirt turned inside out. The girl tells Rachel to come with her, saying she is a friend. Meanwhile, Jason reaches towards his sister. He threatens to do something to the girl if his sister is hurt, calling the girl a freak. The girl then cries out Rachel's name and Jason half-turns before getting shot.

Jason thinks it hurts more than he ever imagined, and finds his hands on his chest. He notices the bleeding starting slowly, and comments to Rachel that she really did it. Rachel replies that she told him she would. Jason then notices that Rachel is crying; and decides he wants to tell her what he really thinks, but now he can't recall what that was. Then, Jason's view fades to black.

|...and she stops and responds to Jason. She asks Jason if she is a freak now, and Jason tells her that she betrayed him. He adds that she was working for them the whole time, but Rachel says it is not by choice. Jason continues that choice has nothing to do with it, and that Rachel was born one of them. She replies that she is working with Jason and their organization because she hates these powers. Jason responds that Rachel keeps hers a secret and helps terrorists escape.

Jason then notices people around them staring. He notes to himself that their voices have been low, but the intensity of their conversation is likely drawing attention. Jason also sees the woman in the motorcycle leathers sitting on a counter stool watching them.

Rachel continues their discussion, saying that Howie Kaplan was just a scared kid. Jason replies that Howie wasn't the only one. He asks about her helping Eric Doyle's escape, and whether Rachel read his file. Then, Jason notices Rachel lower her eyes for the first time, and he asks for her to let him take her in quietly. He continues by placing a hypodermic needle on the table and asking Rachel to inject herself. Jason says he will carry her out, pretending she is sick, and swears on his life that she will be taken care of. However, Rachel responds that it is an empty promise since he has been a dead man since he got involved. The only question is whether it is her or Danko that kills him. Jason then tells Rachel that is enough, and picks the hypodermic needle back up. Rachel then reaches for her pistol under her jacket, but gets shocked by a taser held by the woman in motorcycle leathers.

Rachel convulses and collapses onto the table, her pistol landing between them. A nearby customer screams, and the woman tells her to remain calm as they are federal agents. Jason then thanks the woman, calling her Janey. She notes that Rachel had him, but Jason just smiles and says that he knew she had it under control. Jason and Janey then each grab one of Rachel's arms, and they carry her outside and across the parking lot. Nearing the rental car, Jason tells Janey to get Rachel in the back seat and he will inject her. Rachel then comes to and says she knew he called Danko. However, Jason responds that Janey is his sister and works for U.S. Army Intelligence, adding that she gets to do lots of dirty stuff in her unit.

Just then, a girl's voice says hello to Janey and the three of them look up at the girl, who is standing by the car. Jason notes to himself that she appears to be late teens and blonde. He notices her wearing a college sweatshirt inside out. Janey tells the girl to step away from the car, but the girl ignores her and says she is there to pick up a friend. Janey then responds that she is sure that her friend will be out in a minute, and demands she step away from the car.

Then, the girl says that her friend is "her", pointing at Rachel, and Jason tells Janey to run. But Janey doesn't listen and she asks the girl to turn around and put her hands on the car. Next, Janey reaches for her gun and the girl raises a hand. Then, Jason's view of the world blends into wall of gray.

Jason then explains that Janey doesn't work with them, but is in Army Intelligence, assigned to the Asymmetrical Warfare Group in Fort Meade. Rachel comments that Janey's people, whom she calls the "anti-terrorist terrorists", frighten her, and asks why Janey is following them. Jason then adds that Janey is his sister, and Rachel wonders aloud if this is what his family does in its spare time. Jason responds that his sister is doing him a favor, and Rachel asks what sort of favor she is doing.

|...and she replies that will be fine. However, in that moment, he catches Rachel staring into his eyes and realizes that she knows. Then, there's a soft pop and a flash and Jason is left riding in the car alone. He leans towards the wheel as the car swerves into the guardrail and screeches to a halt. He watches the motorcycle rider pass him on her motorcycle, then searches for any sign of Rachel around the car but does not see her. Jason then gets out of the car and stands on the traffic-browned grass next to the highway. After some trucks pass by, he yells that he knows she will not run and needs to know whom else he has told; but he only gets silence in reply.

Jason makes his way to the treeline and watches for Janey to come back, when he hears Rachel talk from behind him. She asks Jason when he found out, and he turns around. He sees that Rachel is not aiming at him, but he raises his hands anyway in case Janey is watching. Then, Jason tells Rachel that he saw her fall off the roof with Howie and was watching from down below when she teleported with him. Rachel remains quiet, so Jason continues by asking if that was the first time.

Rachel responds, not with an answer, but with her own question. She asks Jason why he called his sister instead of Danko, and he explains that Danko knows there is a mole. Next, he adds that he told Danko that he would take care of the situation, and that he did not want any accidents. Rachel replies that she isn't a mole, but Jason doesn't let up. He tells Rachel he saw her rescue one of the "freaks", and she asks if "freaks" means her too. Jason doesn't deny it, saying Rachel has called them worse. He tells Rachel that he will stand up for Rachel, and that Danko likes her. Jason then begins saying how she should try to prove to Danko that she isn't dangerous, when she shoots Jason.

Jason covers his chest with his hands as bleeding slowly begins. He thinks how it hurts more than he ever thought it would, then collapses onto his knees. Jason remarks that Rachel really did it, and then he hears the rumble of a motorcycle engine approach. He whispers hoarsely for Janey to run, that Rachel will kill her. Then, a nearby female voice says that Jason is right and everything fades to black.

She asks him who else knows, then clarifies asking if Danko knows. Jason responds that he told Danko only that an agent had been compromised and he was going to take care of it. He continues that she is a great agent, and she do the right think by letting him bring her in to take care of the situation. Rachel replies that it's a stupid plan, and asks Jason how he knows she will not run or kill him. He responds that this was not his plan, but that Janey will know if she tries anything. Rachel then notes that there is currently a tractor trailer between their car and Janey, and the car swerves as Jason and Rachel begin a fight.

Rachel's and Jason's rental car then winds up on two tires and crashes across a ditch. Then, then roll down a steep hill and into the forest. The car collapses one of the dark trees onto it, and they come to a halt. Jason turns his head to face the driver's seat and spots Rachel slumped over the collapsed air bag. He notices blood on the side of her forehead, and his hypodermic needle in her thigh. Jason comments aloud that he got her, then listens as Janey's motorcycle rides down the slope. He sees his sister get off the bike, and rush towards him shouting for him to say something. Jason replies a hello, and she notes that he is bleeding and begins getting him out of the vehicle. While helping Jason get out, Janey asks him what happened. He explains that she got tired of talking, and his sister responds that he knows how to pick them. Janey then asks whom she was, and if he can stand up. Jason doesn't answer, but he gets out, takes a deep breath, and turns towards his sister. He sees Janey's dark-haired, dark-eyed, icy expression and begins to tease her about it, when he notices someone about thirty feet away watching them. Jason glances at the onlooker, seeing her as a blonde girl, looking to be in her teens. He tells Janey they have company, and Janey begins to turn around with her hand under her jacket. Then, the girl raises a hand and Jason notices everything become gray and empty.

All cases (II)
The next morning, Rachel awakens in an abandoned hunting cabin where she has spent the night with the girl that helped her. Jason's death is on Rachel's mind as she sits down at the cabin's dusty table. She recalls shooting Jason, and how he was so confident she wouldn't shoot even when she told him she would. She tries to rationalize the death since he tried to take her in, but begins wondering how could she be this way and him not see it.

The girl then interrupts Rachel's thoughts, asking if Rachel knew "him" a long time from her bunk. Rachel replies, asking whom the girl is referring to, and then lowers her face into her hands and begins crying. The girl responds that it is okay, and that this is the worst part. The girl continues that this is the transition, when Rachel becomes who she is in her head, and when others know who she is without her being scared.

Rachel then thinks that the U.S. government must want her for killing her partner, and realizes the only reason she is alive is because of this teenager she just met. Feeling relieved, she thanks the girl for being there to help her, and the girl replies that it is not a problem and begins recalling to Rachel a time when Claire told her something. Rachel interrupts the girl, saying that she has history with Claire. The girl responds that she knows about that, and Rachel notes that the girl knows a lot but she doesn't know the girl's name.

The girl says she didn't think Rachel would ever ask, and comments that they knew she would come around. Rachel then asks whom she is referring to, but the girl says she can't talk about that because that is how they got in trouble with Howie. The girl adds that Rachel really saved them when she helped Howie escape.

Next, the girl joins Rachel at the cabin's table and asks if she has heard about LAWR. Rachel replies that the government picked up some chatter about it, and the girl explains that she is the A in LAWR and that her name is Anna. The girl adds that she helps Ellen, but can't talk about that part. She then tells Rachel that Rachel has to go back to her organization, and Rachel responds if Anna is kidding. Anna says that REBEL told her that they need Rachel there now since things are so dangerous. Rachel then says that they could kill her on sight, and Anna says she is sorry but doesn't think Rebel would ask if it wasn't safe. Rachel thinks Anna's comment sounded almost like a question, but doesn't reply. Then, Anna says that she has a big test tonight she has to get to and Rachel agrees to leave with her.

Before they leave, Anna notes that Jason's sister, Janey, works for a special U.S. Army unit that plays dirty, and that REBEL thinks she might hunt for her brother's killer. Rachel replies that it will be okay, and jokes that she hasn't met an Army girl that could arm-wrestle. Then, Rachel says for them to get Anna to her test.

* The optimal path is following what actually happens, which in chapter 7 of The Agent is confirmed to be an option where Rachel shoots Jason in the restaurant. Options and 1A.2A and 1B.1 correspond to this, though Option 1A.2A appears to be optimal since it allows Jason to check out the rider and in all other respects is the same.
* The final page of this chapter again has a flash image of Rachel's desk. However, in this chapter, several pill bottles are now sitting on Rachel's desk under a pen. One of the bottles is opened on its side with some unknown pills spilling out of it and onto the desk.
* As in the third chapter of The Agent, this chapter again has backgrounds containing several items colored inside a circle of the same single color. It is unknown whether these items have any significance to the story. The items include a yellow exclamation mark, a set of blue notes, a red-colored brain, and a green-colored fist.

This page notes the different possible versions of chapter 6 of The Agent.

All cases (I)

Options (I)

The player is then given the option to choose Jason's next action.

 • As in the third chapter of The Agent, this chapter again has backgrounds containing several items colored inside a circle of the same single color. It is unknown whether these items have any significance to the story. The items include a yellow exclamation mark, a set of blue notes, a red-colored brain, and a green-colored fist.
