Character History

Fight or Flight

At the Dawsons' home, Micah shows Monica a copy of 9th Wonders!, Issue #10. He points to St. Joan on the cover, and tells Monica that Joan has a power similar to hers: she is a muscle mimic--a copycat.

The Line

When Peter and Caitlin find themselves in Times Square (in the future), the picture of St. Joan from the cover of 9th Wonders!, Issue #10 can be seen on a billboard behind them.

Four Months Ago...

On Micah's 11th birthday, his cake is decorated with the 9th Wonders! cover depicting St. Joan.

Truth and Consequences

When Monica disguises herself in a black hood to break into someone's house and retrieve Micah's comics and D.L.'s medal, Micah claims that she is St. Joan. Later, when hiding from a group of arsonists by bracing herself against a ceiling, Monica is revealed when the St. Joan issue of 9th Wonders! falls from the backpack.

The Eclipse, Part 2

When Hiro and Ando look through the various 9th Wonder's comics at Sam's Comics in Lawrence, Kansas there is a St. Joan comic visible.

Graphic Novel:Rebellion, Part 1

Monica, dressed as St. Joan in a hooded top and sneakers and carrying a crossbow, fights crime in New Orleans with the help of her cousin Micah. Micah refers to her as "Saint Joan".

Dennis Collins has a St. Joan poster in his room.

Project Reborn

While imprisoned in the Eternal Fortress, Tommy Clark has memories of several issues of 9th Wonders!, including one with St. Joan on the cover.


  • Micah identifies St. Joan as having the power of muscle mimicry.
  • It is unknown whether Joan exists, or whether she is simply Isaac's creation. It should be noted, however, that most characters from 9th Wonders! exist outside of the comic book as well.
  • St. Joan is pictured on the cover of 9th Wonders! wielding a kris dagger and a crossbow. A similar kris is seen in the Company's vault in Powerless.
  • According to the weekly trivia game at, St. Joan is Monica.
  • The subtitle of Rebellion, Part 7 is The Liberation of St. Joan.
