- Riyo Mori (Miss Universe, 2007) auditioned for the role of Yaeko. The role went to Eriko Tamura instead, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
- TV Guide Online reports that Yaeko will be a love interest for one of the main characters. Others have speculated that Yaeko and Princess Keriyama are the same person, and that she will be a love interest for Hiro.
