Character History
Silas Grey has a checkered past to say the least; very cunning and charming as a child, and rich from birth, he was bound to get into trouble. In fact, it was this that led him to his life of vampirism. He was born approximately in 1553, to Gregory and Miranda Grey (or perhaps Hortense Grey, depending on who's telling the story); his siblings, "Zed" (Zedediah), Lydia and Tandy Grey envied the fact that their parents saw him as the prodigy of the family (especially because he was the youngest of the four of them; Zed the oldest, and Lydia and Tandy being twins). He grew up with the best treatment from his parents and grandparents, getting the best education, the best clothes, and the attention of all the women in their little village (who thought him adorable).
His intelligence allowed him to excel greatly in school, where he was the pride of the class, out-mathing and out-languaging anyone who dared to cross wits with him. His high intelligence (but rash judgment), his good looks, his pride and his daredevil attitude almost made what happened next...too easy.
At fifteen he would have been considered a man back then, and this only inflated his ego worse than it already was. He went out to live on his own with a couple of school friends, until he was about 26 (during which time he wrote and published many books and literary works anonymously); numerous women stayed with him during this time, but he never married any of them. One day, however, he, with his bad-influence friends, Jacques and Harrold (who agreed to share a house with him until they could afford their own) made their way to a brothel, where Grey met Marie-Linnette "Quintette" LaRoque (so surnamed for her love of having sex with multiple partners, male or female, at a time). The two hit it off quickly, and before they knew it, she had invited Silas and his friends to "enjoy her company". Intrigued by the girl's beauty and wit, they agreed and in the heat of the love-making, "Quintette" was consumed with her lust (as female vampires often are, even when mating with those of their own kind) and went into a rage, killing Silas' friends and leaving him nearly dead in the process.
From there, he would grow and mature in his mindset. He underwent numerous psychological breakdowns, torn between his self-loathing for the fact that he was only barely human, and his hunger for the blood of the living. After numerous months of trying to resist the urge, he soon gave in to killing human prey. After a while, though, it was no longer just a force of necessity that drove him to bloodshed; he enjoyed it. He would lure young women (or men, if women were scarce) with his charm and witty cunning, and in the midst of their love-making or drawn-out sex-play (or even just while the victim was distracted) he would lunge on them and kill them as Quintette tried to do to him.
Evolved Human [1]Abilities
His true ability is the power to negate the inner instincts of subjects, but his most recent and most powerful abilities stem from the fact that he is, in fact, a vampire. His strength, speed, senses, intelligence, endurance (both durability and stamina) are all superhuman in proportion, he is capable of turning into a bat, a swarm of bats, a wolf or a mist, he can communicate with dogs, bats and vermin, his sustenance on blood is all that allows him to withstand sunlight, and he is virtually immortal (including longevity of life, the ability to rapidly regenerate from injury and the inability to die from drowning, suffocation, starvation or dehydration). He also has an aversion to holy symbols, and an allergy to holy water, garlic and silver. He cannot enter a house without being invited and cannot cross flowing streams of water. He used to rely on the presence of his coffin, but he has become less and less dependent on it to survive (he still sleeps in it, but harming it will only make him feel slightly nauseated until he gets a new one)
