Wrong Alan?
I don't think this is the same Alan Carter. The one in this photo has this IMDb listing. The one we want has this IMDb listing and this NY Times listing.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:42, 28 December 2008 (EST)
- I think they're the same person (kind of like how James Storm and Jim Storm are both James Storm, and this Jim Storm is miscredited as being in Heroes--sometimes IMDb makes those kinds of mistakes). The Alan Carter pictured is definitely matched with this bio, which says that he is a producer and writer (and a whole lot of other things) with tons of credits. This IMDb guy only lists two credits, whereas this one lists many. The bio says that Alan produced TV's 100 Most Memorable Moments (which matches with this IMDb) and wrote The Soap Opera Awards (which sort of matches with the NY Times credits, which lists him as the editor). I have a feeling that when you have a producer/writer/editor/director who 1) has a very common first and last name, 2) is very prolific, 3) is a multi-hyphenate, and 4) does a lot of single shows, variety hours, awards ceremonies, and other odds and ends, that you're going to get a few multiple bios, none of which list everything....But I'm determined to get to the bottom of it and find out for sure if we've got the right guy. I'll send a message to he guy in the picture and I'll simply ask him whether he directed the Heroes show or not. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:41, 28 December 2008 (EST)
- Ok, the one for the bio does a lot of work for EW.com, so it should be easy enough to get a reply from him or someone else who works there.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:55, 28 December 2008 (EST)
- On second thought, there is no direct e-mail for Alan @ ew.com, but I guess you could write to the editor. According to EW.com, letters to the editor go to email "letters at ew.com" or via mail at "Entertainment Weekly, 1675 Broadway, New York, NY 10019". The site also says "correspondence should include the writer's full name, address, and home telephone, and may be edited for purposes of clarity or space"--so I assume the intention is for it to be printed correspondence for regarding magazine articles and I'm not sure if the question will get through that way... thus, writing to CBS2 at this link is likely the best way. That contact page has a 'Where are they now?' drop-down option which will likely help the question get answered quickly by a newsperson whose responsibility it is to answer such inquiries.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:16, 28 December 2008 (EST)
- Thanks for the suggestions. I have direct contact with Alan, though. I emailed him already. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:47, 28 December 2008 (EST)
- Ah, even better! :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:46, 28 December 2008 (EST)
- Yeah, it's the wrong guy. D'oh! I'll remove the picture now. I'm at a loss of how to find the "right" Alan. Too bad--the wrong one was pretty interesting! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:46, 28 December 2008 (EST)
- Well, he's been doing the CMT Awards annually for the past few years. Maybe someone listed in their contacts can help?--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:08, 29 December 2008 (EST)
