Nana Dawson is the doyenne of her Katrina-ravaged family. She is given Micah's care while Nikki tends to some business.

- 8/16 -- Nichelle Nichols tells TV Guide that "Nana is tough and undaunted and--like the blues--she just keeps rising to the occasion." The woman, in "financial straits", moves into her flood-ravished house after her daughter dies, and cares for her two grandchildren, one of whom is Monica. When asked if Nana has a special ability, Nichols said, "Well, that remains to be seen, now doesn't it?" Additionally, Nana is the great-aunt of Micah Sanders. Since Nana probably isn't related to Niki, that would make Nana the sister or sister-in-law of Paulette Hawkins.
- 8/14 -- TV Guide reports that Nichelle Nichols will play the part of Nana, Monica's grandmother from New Orleans.
- 8/10 -- TrekMovie.com reports that Nichelle Nichols will be on Heroes for five or six episodes.
- 7/18 -- Buddy TV reports that Nana will debut in Lizards.
