The "man at the bar," or the "mysterious man at the bar" as he is currently often called, is an assistant to Mr. Bennet. He has the power to manipulate other peoples' minds, at least to the point of making them forget all or part of their memories and blocking the powers of mind readers. He wears a chain with The Symbol.

The mysterious man was first seen when officer Matt Parkman was at a bar reading people's thoughts. As Matt looked at the man, he heard nothing but silence.

The man also accompanied Mr. Bennet after he kidnapped Matt in order to perform tests on him. The man appeared to be there to keep Matt out of Mr. Bennet's thoughts, with only partial success. Mr. Bennet told the man to "go deep and clean him out." The result of this is that Matt wakes up on his couch last remembering being at the bar and assuming that he just had to much to drink.

The mysterious man also wiped all of Brody's memories in his hospital room after Claire crashed Brody's car.
