Password 2

Isn't is the password Lac Long Quan? Good job Hardvice for this page, I like how it turned out.--Bob 22:55, 11 April 2007 (EDT)

  • Yeah, password 2 comes from the Lonestar File, not from Brian. And thanks!--Hardvice (talk) 23:10, 11 April 2007 (EDT)
    • Yeah, I knew we could derive it from the Lonestar File, but since Brian is the guy who put the logic bomb in the voting software, you'd think he would have made that backdoor notable. Hm.--Bob 23:13, 11 April 2007 (EDT)
      • Well, he claims he's planning to sell it, so my guess is he wouldn't risk someone finding it out ... which is why we had to get it elsewhere.--Hardvice (talk) 23:29, 11 April 2007 (EDT)

Good move

I like the detail that this page allows us. Little things like the JPG hint, or including the full sonnet are really nice on this page. They would've been too crowded on Hana's website. Good call! — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:29, 11 April 2007 (EDT)

  • Now if somebody could explain the number series to me ... here's how it's supposed to work:
Read Aloud is | Gives
6 One "6" 16
16 One "1", One "6" 1116
1116 Three "1", One "6" 3116
3116 One "3", Two "1", One "6" 132116
132116 One "1", One "3", One "2", Two "1", One "6" 1113122116
1113122116 Three "1", One "3", One "1", Two "2", Two "1", One "6" 311311222116

Not "31131216", which is the correct answer. WTF?--Hardvice (talk) 23:47, 11 April 2007 (EDT)

  • If you work backwards from "31131216", all you get is a ton of 6's eventually. So yeah, I have no idea.--Bob 23:53, 11 April 2007 (EDT)
  • I think I've seen different rules when it comes to this puzzle, but for this one it appears you work left to right and each time you come to a digit you've not seen before you count all instances of it in the entire string, not just adjacent ones. (Admin 00:12, 12 April 2007 (EDT))
    • Well then wouldn't it be 31132216? — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:22, 12 April 2007 (EDT)
      • 132116 -> 3 ones, 1 three, one 2, one 6 (31131216) "Read aloud" column of row 5 of Hardvice's chart is incorrect, which messes up any subsequent ones. (Admin 00:26, 12 April 2007 (EDT))
