Simulacratic mimicry is the ability to replicate the abilities and other characteristics of other evolved humans.
Characters
- Liam Johnson is the only known person to possess this ability.
Limits
Liam Johnson
Initially, Liam's ability manifested in the sense that he could replicate only the abilities of other evolved humans, similar to the way Ability replication works. Once replicated, Liam gained full access to the ability, whilst the original possessor suffered no change to his power, and he can only hold one ability at a time, losing access to the previous one when a new one was replicated. Unlike the later aspects of his power, Liam's copy of an ability allowed him access to every aspect of that ability, even the multiple power acquistion aspects of an ability such as power absorption.
Liam initially suffered health problems from the usage of too many acquired powers too often, specifically after he absorbed more than one ability. He was warned that the usage of too many abilities in a short space of time could lead to severe brain trauma, thus he used powers with care and restrain. However this changed after meeting Faye Nixon, from which point he has used many different abilities often, and yet suffered no ill will, indicating that his body has adapted to holding multiple abilities safely.
Later, his ability developed to the point where he could replicate other aspects of evolved humans. To this date these have included:
- Specific talents or aptitudes (Example: Matt Bignell's video gaming aptitude)
- Physical appearance [notably different from his shape shifting ability] (Example: Bianca Bartlett's eye colour and shape)
- Specific emotions or emotional states (Example: Lee Worthington's jovial state)
- Personality traits (Example: Robert Ware's attentive perfectionism)
- Anatomical properties (Example: Aaron Thornbury's high testosterone levels)
- Body chemistry (Example: Rachael Frost's sleep inducing nature)
It is as of yet unclear as to the limits of what he can and can't copy. Seemingly, any aspect of a human's anatomical working, including but not limited to the aforementioned above can be replicated and accessed by Liam.
Similarly to the ability replication aspect, replicated properties only remain in Liam's possession in limits. He can seemingly copy as many aspects as he wishes, but loses access to previously copied aspects when he copies new ones. Some aspects appear to "rent more space" than others- such as large personality traits like optimism, and the copying of one can "clean out" other smaller aspects. Additionaly, left unchecked, Liam will lose access to all aspects, with the exception of their abilities, over time regardless, the period of time varying. There is no one aspect he has been able to hold permanantly to this date.
The copying of aspects, unlike the ability replication part of his power, has also been seen to be impure. Every copy varies and differs slighly from the original- often blending with his natural self to create hybrid states of personality. Some copies, such as Robert Ware's perfectionism have metamorphed into a state close to OCD, quite different to the original, whereas others are less so potent. Some changes are so minor the difference from the original isn't noticable- however Liam has claimed a change always occurs.
With the initial ability replication, Liam needed physical contact to be able to replicate abilties. However, once his ability evolved he was able to copy aspects without touch, by being in close proximity to the source. He later found that he could use the method to replicate abilties, discovering that he no longer needed the physical touch.
