The new comic generally doesn't show up until about 2 or 3 AM CST.--Hardvice (talk) 02:51, 9 January 2007 (EST)

AOTW discussion

In a week where there might be no GN and no new episode (which I don't think will happen until the summer), I think we ought to discuss a new AOTW before before we go ahead and start marking up an article for the main page. Just sort of to get some feedback and bounce around different ideas - that way it's a group concesus, rather than just one person's idea of what's best. :) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 06:16, 9 January 2007 (EST)

New episodes

  • Since we've changed how we do AOTW since the last new Heroes episode, what's the plan for this new episode? The episode articles already have code in them that helps generate the appropriate AOTW when it's transcluded. I do like that approach at least with the episodes since it means you only have to edit the main article instead of the article and the AOTW template. So once Episode:Godsend is ready for AOTW maybe we can just replace the content in Template:aotw with {{:Episode:Godsend}}. We could of course change the {{aotw}} on the main page, but I think doing the 2 level transclusion I mentioned before would be good in case we ever need to lock the main page. • Sounds about right to me. Lemme see if I can work up a more main-page friendly version of the sidebar that we can stick inside some <includeonly> tags. IIRC, that was the main complaint about the formatting of the AOTW before the switch, so a slimmed-down one would be ... advantageous.--Hardvice (talk) 16:53, 22 January 2007 (EST)
      • Okay, it's working. Check out the Sandbox. When an episode is transcluded, it produces a small sidebar, and when it isn't it produces a full-sized one. I had to change the {{{image}}} variable to accept raw filenames instead of links to get it to work, but that's really just an added benefit IMO.--Hardvice (talk) 17:35, 22 January 2007 (EST)
        • It looks nice. And I much prefer the updated image call - it's more consistent with the most of the infoboxes we have now. Nice work. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:38, 22 January 2007 (EST)
          • It also means if we have to make changes later (resizing the image, thumbnailing it, or whatever), we can make the change to the template and not each individual article. Any opinions on what to display on the slimmed-down sidebar? I'm still feeding it all the variables, so we can add or remove stuff very easily. Right now, I'm showing title, image, ep. number, airdate, prev, and next.--Hardvice (talk) 17:41, 22 January 2007 (EST)
